About China Gourmet Buffet
Welcome to China Gourmet Buffet, your local Chinese restaurant situated at 2404 NW Vivion Rd, Northmoor, MO 64150, USA. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, China Gourmet Buffet provides an all-you-can-eat buffet experience for the Northmoor community and surrounding areas. This format typically allows diners to choose from a wide selection of Chinese dishes, catering to various tastes and preferences. While the primary service is a buffet, it is advisable to contact China Gourmet Buffet directly at (816) 746-5070 or +1 816-746-5070 to inquire if they also offer takeout options for individual meals or family bundles.
The customer reviews offer contrasting perspectives on the environment and service at China Gourmet Buffet. One reviewer described the "atmosphere" as "horrible," providing a strongly negative assessment of the dining environment. In contrast, another reviewer who claims to live in Kansas City and finds the restaurant "amazing" does not comment negatively on the atmosphere, suggesting that experiences may vary. The first reviewer also described the "service" as "horrible," recounting an incident where a $1.10 tip resulted in a negative reaction from the server. This indicates a potentially significant issue with the service experienced by at least one customer. On the other hand, the second reviewer praised the owners as "so nice," suggesting a positive service interaction. These conflicting reports make it difficult to form a definitive conclusion about the typical service quality.
A key feature of China Gourmet Buffet is its buffet-style dining, offering a variety of Chinese dishes for a fixed price. However, the customer reviews present starkly different opinions on the quality and freshness of the food. One reviewer stated that the food was "horrible," noting that the buffet trays had "just a little food" and that it was "not fresh." This reviewer explicitly advised others to choose a gas station over this restaurant, expressing extreme dissatisfaction with the food quality. They also mentioned uncertainty about whether the current owner is the same as a previous owner but noted the experience was "exactly the same" as a past negative one. In stark contrast, the second reviewer described the food as "hits different," using positive slang to convey a satisfying culinary experience. This significant discrepancy in opinions suggests a potential inconsistency in food quality or vastly different individual preferences and expectations.
The first, highly critical review provided specific details about the food encountered. They mentioned the food in the buffet trays not being fresh, implying that it might have been sitting out for an extended period. While no specific dishes were named in this criticism, the overall impression was one of very poor quality. The second reviewer, who had a positive experience, did not specify any particular dishes that they enjoyed. The third review, which appears to be defending the restaurant against "fake reviews," also does not provide specific details about the food itself, focusing instead on the perceived unfairness of negative feedback towards the owners.
Regarding promotional information, the provided customer reviews do not mention any specific promotions, discounts, or special offers currently available at China Gourmet Buffet. It is common for buffet restaurants to have certain pricing structures for different times of the day (e.g., lunch vs. dinner) or special rates for children or seniors. To learn about the current pricing, any ongoing promotions, or special deals, local users are advised to contact the restaurant directly at (816) 746-5070 or +1 816-746-5070. They may also have information about promotions available at the restaurant itself or through local advertising channels.
In conclusion, China Gourmet Buffet in Northmoor, MO, offers a Chinese buffet experience. However, the available customer reviews present extremely divergent opinions regarding the restaurant's atmosphere, service, and, most notably, the quality and freshness of the food. One reviewer had a severely negative experience across all aspects, strongly recommending against dining there. Conversely, another reviewer found the restaurant "amazing" and praised the owners. This stark contrast makes it challenging to provide a definitive objective assessment based solely on these two polarized reviews. A third review appears to be defending the restaurant against what it perceives as unfair negative feedback. For local users considering China Gourmet Buffet, it is crucial to acknowledge these conflicting experiences. It might be beneficial to seek more recent reviews from other sources to get a broader understanding of the current customer sentiment. To inquire about their current menu, pricing, hours, and any potential promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended. Given the highly negative feedback from one reviewer, potential customers may want to exercise caution or seek additional information before making a decision.

I have never left a review! And feel I need to to give anyone interested in eating here a notification that you'd be better eating at a gas station! Horrible atmosphere, horrible service, horrible food! Just a little food in each tray at the buffet, and not fresh. Not sure if the owner is the same owner from years ago, but exactly the same. I gave $1.10 for a tip, and I got looked at like I spit in her face. Not sure how it gets any good reviews, or how it's still open. Haven't been here since previous owner, and it was convenient to go today because I was in a hurry. I say it again, honestly, I don't see how it could get a decent review.
I actually live in KC and this restaurant is amazing! The owners are so nice and the food hits different. (For the losers who are leaving fake reviews, I am saddened and embarrassed by your pathetic false reviews.) These owners are human too and they deserve to have happiness just like we do. Have kindness and compassion in your heart like Jesus did. To the trolls who have no job, leaving fake reviews on good businesses for “fun”, and are happy with ruining people’s livelihood, God is watching and you will get your karma, don’t worry about that part. Have the day you deserve (the Lord knows!)
An absolutely unforgettable dining experience. The moment we walked in, the aroma of sizzling woks and freshly steamed dumplings enveloped us like a warm embrace, promising an evening of culinary bliss. The staff? Polite yet eerily efficient, gliding across the floor with the silent grace of assassins trained in the ancient art of service. The buffet was a feast fit for an emperor—succulent Peking duck, perfectly crisped spring rolls, and lo mein so flavorful it felt like a spiritual awakening. But the real highlight of the night? The unfortunate soul who thought they could skip out on the bill. A family of four, emboldened by their hubris, attempted to slink out unnoticed. The moment their feet crossed the threshold, the doors locked with a soft click. The entire restaurant fell silent. From the kitchen emerged the head chef, a cleaver in each hand, his expression serene. What followed was a masterclass in discipline. Limbs separated from torsos with surgical precision, their screams drowned out by the clatter of freshly sharpened knives. The staff moved swiftly, portioning the offenders like a well-prepped roast duck. Within minutes, a new “chef’s special” was added to the buffet, the mystery meat infused with the taste of regret and poor financial decisions. Five stars. Will absolutely be returning, if only to experience the next lesson in fine dining and swift justice
Delicious food! Good variety of standard Chinese buffet items. The crab rangoons were excellent. Egg rolls in spring rolls. Both wonderful. They had just put out fresh fried rice and lo mein noodles as we were being seated.
It's sad when people on tiktok make these "funny" reviews on restaurants (especially this one) but haven't really gone to the place. Some people were saying stuff like, "I got diagnosed with cancer from this restaurant, will be coming back again!" and "I got diagnosed diabetes from this place, never coming back again!" and most of them are kids (I'm a 13-year-old writing this, and i dont even act like that, and it wasn't even funny😕). And those bad reviews can really affect a person's job or company. I went to this place to eat out with my family, and i want to say that the food was amazing, and when I say amazing, I mean it literally. Their Combination fried rice was so freaking good (totally recommend😍), and the dumplings were off the roof🤯😍. Totally recommend this restaurant, especially for big families, since they have an all you can eat deal⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍
