China Garden Restaurant

We absolutely enjoyed our supper of garlic chicken and beef with string beans. Both were so flavorful and savory. To be honest, two people could share a supper entree and be well satisfied. We try to find GOOD Chinese when we go out of town because we have to go out of town to get GOOD Chinese. This is GOOD Chinese.

I started going to China Garden since 1994. Back then the food was great. Over the years the taste of the food has changed so I stopped going. Every now and then I try again and the food is just not good. Today November 17, 2023 I tried again and was totally disappointed in my food. I ordered the lunch menu and had Sweet and sour shrimp. I wanted to try the pork fried rice again and asked for that instead of plain fried rice. The up charge for pork was $5. I specified no eggs or bean sprouts and light onions in the rice. When my order arrived the rice had eggs and bean sprouts so it had to go back. When my order came back, it looked good however was full of large pieces of onions. Can I say the taste of the rice was lacking and I was totally DISAPPOINTED!!! The pork pieces were dry and tasteless. Not like I remember. This was so disappointing. Needless to say, I’m done. That’s my last try with China Garden. A waste of my money. The total cost of my lunch was $21.77.

I Ordered a hot and sour soup and got thickened water, we order foods from other cultures to enjoy and experience their ingredients and indulge in their authentic recipes and flavors. This soup is my favorite I’ve ordered this soup for years! I as a consumer and New Yorker born and raised pay for authentic meals not lack, luster and mediocrity! Soup was not spicy as it authentic recipe states and calls for, they cut out major ingredients like the wood ear and portobello mushrooms…What else are you cutting out of your recipes…The price of food is based off of the ingredients not just the labor…I feel robbed.

We had Sake & crab rangoon to start. The waitress brought us wontons. I ordered a chicken egg roll & the ginger pineapple chicken and shrimp with brown rice. Everything was very good.

The food in service were great. We didn’t have to wait long for our food to come out. I went with two individuals with special needs and a very nice couple paid our meal.
