About China Garden

Welcome to China Garden, a Chinese restaurant situated at 8740 W 135th St in Overland Park, Kansas. You can contact them at (913) 685-8686 or via their mobile number at +1 913-685-8686 for inquiries or to place an order. As a local Chinese restaurant, China Garden aims to provide a diverse menu of Chinese cuisine to cater to the tastes of the Overland Park community. Based on customer feedback, China Garden offers a combination of flavorful dishes and affordable pricing, making it a potentially attractive option for those seeking value and taste.

Upon arrival, customers can expect to be greeted promptly. One reviewer specifically mentioned being "pleasantly greeted immediately," indicating a welcoming and efficient initial interaction with the staff. This positive first impression can contribute significantly to the overall dining experience, whether you choose to dine in or pick up a takeout order.

The quality of the food at China Garden has received positive remarks, particularly for certain dishes. The Szechuan chicken was highlighted as being "spicy and full of flavor," suggesting that those who enjoy bold and well-seasoned dishes will find this option appealing. The Hot & Sour soup was also praised for being "well balanced," indicating a harmonious blend of the key flavor profiles that characterize this popular soup.

For those looking for a midday meal, China Garden offers a lunch serving that is considered "plenty" by at least one customer. This suggests that the lunch specials provide a generous portion size, offering good value for the price. This could make China Garden a convenient and satisfying option for lunch breaks or casual daytime dining.

In terms of the restaurant's environment, customer feedback suggests that the atmosphere "leans towards take out." This implies that while there is seating available for those who prefer to dine in, the primary focus or ambiance of the establishment might be more geared towards the convenience of ordering food to go. However, it is also explicitly mentioned that "there's plenty of seating to dine in if that's your preference," providing flexibility for customers who wish to eat their meal at the restaurant.

One of the recurring positive aspects mentioned in the reviews is the pricing at China Garden, which is described as "great" and "decent." Customers feel that they receive a "decent amount for what you pay for," reinforcing the perception of good value for money. This affordability, coupled with the generally positive feedback on the flavor and portion sizes of some dishes, makes China Garden an attractive option for budget-conscious diners.

However, not all aspects of the menu have received universal praise. One customer specifically advised against ordering the egg drop soup, stating that it has been "consistently bad." They noted an "off taste" in the soup during their last few orders. This negative feedback indicates a potential issue with the preparation or quality control of this particular item, and it is important for potential customers to be aware of this inconsistency.

Despite the criticism regarding the egg drop soup, the staff at China Garden consistently receive positive feedback. Employees are described as "great and super nice," contributing to a pleasant customer service experience. The friendly demeanor of the staff appears to be a significant factor in customer satisfaction, with one reviewer stating that they would "still come back because of the decent pricing" despite the issue with the egg drop soup. This highlights the importance of good customer service in fostering customer loyalty.

In summary, China Garden in Overland Park offers a mix of positive attributes and areas for potential improvement. Customers can expect a pleasant greeting and friendly service from the staff. Certain dishes, such as the Szechuan chicken and Hot & Sour soup, are praised for their flavor, and the lunch servings are considered generous. The pricing is generally viewed as affordable, offering good value for the portion sizes. While the atmosphere leans towards takeout, dine-in is readily available with ample seating. However, potential customers should be aware of reported inconsistencies in the quality of the egg drop soup. Overall, for those seeking flavorful Chinese cuisine at reasonable prices with the option of takeout or dine-in, and who are willing to potentially avoid certain menu items based on feedback, China Garden remains a viable option in the Overland Park area.

We were pleasantly greeted immediately. The food was great! The Szechuan chicken was spicy and full of flavor! The Hot & Sour soup was well balanced. The lunch serving was plenty. The atmosphere leans towards take out, however, there's plenty of seating to dine in if that's your preference.

The pricing is great, the food is okay (you do get a decent amount for what you pay for). Egg drop soup has been consistently bad, don't get it. I'm not sure why but the last few times I've gotten it, it has had an off taste to it. Employees are great and super nice, I'll still come back because of the decent pricing.

I ordered the vegetables chow mein and it was not at all what I thought would be. Normally at any other restaurant chow mein would have noodles of some sort. But what I received was a container of vegetables and was to put over rice???the listing said chow mein (no chewy noodles). Why even put it on the menue? Don't get me wrong the vegetables are good, and what my husband got he enjoyed but it seems ridiculous that you put on the menue chow mein but there are no noodles

Good standard Chinese take-out fare. Food was ready fast. Mandarin chicken was more traditional style, served with brown sauce and bean sprouts, not orange peel. Sweet and sour chicken was crispy. Egg foo young came loaded with veggies.
