About China Garden
China Garden is a Chinese restaurant located at 2131 Charbonier Rd in Florissant, Missouri, 63031. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, China Garden primarily functions as a takeout facility. According to customer reviews, while there are "a few chairs and tables," the establishment is "essentially pick up and go." This suggests that while a limited dine-in option might exist, the focus is heavily on providing food for customers to take away and enjoy elsewhere. They can be contacted at (314) 839-9903 or their mobile number +1 314-839-9903 for placing orders.
One reviewer described the menu as "pretty standard with most Americanized Chinese dishes," indicating that customers can likely expect to find familiar favorites catering to the American palate. This same reviewer noted that "the food was good" and the pricing was "more than reasonable," suggesting a positive experience in terms of taste and value. Furthermore, they observed a significant customer presence, stating that "the line went to the door," and the conversations overheard while waiting indicated "a loyal following to this restaurant." This implies that China Garden has established a positive reputation and a regular customer base within the local community.
Another customer echoed the sentiment of good quality and convenience, stating, "Its good, the food tasted freshly made, and the portions were substantial. A good week night or weekend spot for quick carry out." This review reinforces the idea that China Garden is a reliable option for those seeking a quick and satisfying Chinese meal for takeout, with the added benefit of freshly prepared food and generous portions.
However, not all experiences have been entirely positive. One reviewer expressed significant disappointment, stating, "I really don't like giving one star, but in this situation, I have to." This starkly contrasts with the positive feedback and suggests potential inconsistencies in food quality or other aspects of the dining experience.
This negative review went on to detail a specific order of three combos and a vegetable egg roll. While the initial impression was positive ("Everything looked good at first..."), the subsequent experience was far from satisfactory. A major criticism was the proportion of vegetables to meat in the dishes. The reviewer noted that the meals were "vegetable heavy," and while they enjoy vegetables, they also expect an adequate amount of meat. Specifically, the Mongolian beef was described as having "not enough meat...to give three of us two pieces each," consisting primarily of "all onions and green onions, and very bland."
The Kung Pao chicken also received criticism regarding the quality of the chicken, with the reviewer finding "two large pieces of chicken, and they were clumps of fat." Although they acknowledged that the flavor was good, the poor quality of the chicken itself detracted significantly from the dish. Similarly, the Sesame Chicken was initially "good, until the fat and weird fat taste took over," ultimately rendering "maybe half" of it inedible. The vegetable egg roll was also a major disappointment, with the reviewer suspecting it came from a "frozen department from the Shop N Save next door," describing it as "mushy and gross" and stating that "half was thrown away."
Despite these negative experiences with the main dishes and the egg roll, this reviewer did find one redeeming quality: "I must give credit for the crab Rangoon. They were definitely some of, if not the best from a fast Chinese restaurant." This suggests that the crab rangoon might be a standout item on China Garden's menu.
Finally, this detailed negative review also commented on the portion sizes, stating, "The portions weren't terrible, but in comparison to others, they seemed light. That was fine in this instance, since we threw half of it out anyways." This contradicts the earlier positive review that mentioned substantial portions, indicating potential inconsistency or different perceptions based on the dishes ordered.
Based on these reviews, China Garden primarily operates as a takeout facility serving standard Americanized Chinese dishes. While some customers have praised the good food, reasonable pricing, and substantial portions, noting a loyal following, others have experienced significant issues with the quality of certain dishes, particularly the meat content and quality in items like Mongolian beef and Kung Pao chicken, as well as the preparation of the vegetable egg roll. The crab rangoon appears to be a consistently well-received item. There is conflicting feedback regarding portion sizes.
For local users in Florissant considering China Garden, it's important to note its primary focus on takeout. The positive reviews suggest that it can be a good option for a quick and reasonably priced Chinese meal, with at least one customer highlighting the freshness of the food and substantial portions. The presence of a loyal following also indicates that many in the community have had positive experiences. However, the detailed negative review raises concerns about the quality of certain dishes, the proportion of meat to vegetables, and the possibility of encountering poorly prepared items. The praise for the crab rangoon might make it a worthwhile item to try.
Without further information about the restaurant's environment beyond its takeout focus, specific services like delivery, or any current promotional offers, local users will need to weigh the positive feedback regarding taste and value against the negative experiences with specific dishes and portion sizes when making their decision. Trying a few different items, perhaps including the highly-rated crab rangoon, might be the best way to gauge the quality and consistency of China Garden for individual preferences.

I really don't like giving one star, but in this situation, I have to. We wanted to try somewhere new, and a friend recommended us here. Ordered three combos, and a vegetable egg roll. Everything looked good at first. . . The meals are vegetable heavy. Love vegetables, but need meat too! Not enough meat in the Mongolian beef to give three of us two pieces each. All onions and green onions, and very bland. The Kung Pao had two large pieces of chicken, and they were clumps of fat. Flavor was good though. The Sesame Chicken was good, until the fat and weird fat taste took over. Maybe half was edible in the end. The egg roll. . . No way it didn't come from the frozen department from the Shop N Save next door. It was mushy and gross; half was thrown away. I must give credit for the crab Rangoon. They were definitely some of, if not the best from a fast Chinese restaurant. The portions weren't terrible, but in comparison to others, they seemed light. We lived in Stl 10 years & while visiting Florissant from Chicago we tried China Garden a few hours ago, and ordered 2- large shrimp Egg foo young, chicken wings - crab ragoon. We're used to 4 patties vs 3; both dinner boxes cook skimped on gravy- half full. we reheated & "added water for more gravy"-; wings over cooked; crab ragoon good. Please don't skimp on gravy, not the normal for half gravy on Egg foo young dishes. And friendliness doesn't hurt either :) 🙂
Man i tried this place 3 times already. I dont like the foods here. It is just soy sauce. Signature flavor is not there
They over charge and give very little on ingredients $2.55 for a small egg roll is ridiculous Gave me a St Paul with no mayo like a fingertip amount! Won’t return!
