About China Garden Buffet
Welcome to China Garden Buffet, a Chinese restaurant located at 1108 W Kemper Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45240, USA. Serving the local community, China Garden Buffet offers a buffet-style dining experience featuring a variety of Chinese dishes. You can reach them at (513) 825-6627 or +1 513-825-6627.
Based on customer feedback, China Garden Buffet has been a frequented spot for some over the years, with mentions of a "nice and quiet place." One long-time patron specifically highlighted a particular waitress, describing her as "fast, efficient, and ensuring everyone is openly and properly placed," consistently providing a joyful experience. This suggests that for some, the restaurant offers a comfortable and familiar atmosphere with attentive service from certain staff members.
Another recurring customer shared their family's tradition of visiting China Garden Buffet once or twice a month, indicating a level of familiarity and connection with the establishment. They mentioned a friendly host who had even shared personal photos, fostering a sense of community and rapport. This positive aspect points to a potentially welcoming and personable environment cultivated by some of the staff.
However, recent feedback also presents some areas of concern. One customer recounted a less than satisfactory experience during a recent visit. While acknowledging past positive experiences, their latest visit highlighted issues with the food quality, specifically mentioning that some items "seemed really old like it had been sitting out all day under the warmer." This raises questions about the freshness and turnover of the buffet offerings.
Furthermore, the same customer expressed disappointment with the sushi selection, noting that it appeared "manhandled" and that the sushi station was not going to be refilled despite it being around 6 pm. This suggests potential limitations in the variety and availability of certain dishes, particularly later in the evening.
A significant point of contention in the recent review was the service received from a different waitress during the visit. The customer felt that the service provided—serving drinks and a single refill—did not warrant a tip. The situation escalated when the waitress allegedly insisted on receiving a tip after the customer had crossed out the tip line on the bill. This encounter left the customer feeling that the waitress was "entitled" and displayed poor customer service skills, ultimately leading to their decision not to return to the restaurant.
The customer also mentioned overlooking the cleanliness of the restaurant in the past, describing it as a "quaint little hole in the wall." This suggests that while the ambiance might have been acceptable to some, it might not meet the standards of all patrons. The fact that the restaurant was sparsely occupied during prime dinner time, with only one other party present, could also be a point of consideration for potential customers.
In summary, China Garden Buffet appears to be a local Chinese restaurant offering a buffet experience. While some long-term customers have appreciated the quiet atmosphere and the service provided by certain staff members, recent feedback indicates potential inconsistencies in food quality, limited availability of certain items like sushi, and concerns regarding the customer service provided by some waitstaff. Potential customers may want to consider these recent experiences alongside the positive historical feedback when making their dining decisions.

Customer Reviews
Have been going here for years. Its a nice and quiet place. the main waitress has been a joy to have every single time I go there. She is fast, efficient, and ensures everyone is openly and properly placed.
First off, this is a common visit for my family. We visit about once or twice a month. Enough so that the host has shared photos of his grandkids with me while cashing out. Fast forward to tonight, myself and 3 children. My son doesn't even eat but I'm still charged, and I don't complain about it. He wanted sushi but all of the sushi that they did have looked like it had been manhandled and when I inquired if they were going to refill the sushi area the host which has always been super super nice informed me that the sushi guy had already left for the day and this was around 6pm. It's whatever, at this point. I'll pay for his spot and suck it up and get him sushi elsewhere after we leave. We went up and got our food, it all seemed really old like it had been sitting out all day under the warmer. The food was so so, to the point I only got one plate and so did my girls minus getting some dessert. After receiving our check we went up to cash out and pay. Now keep in mind I've been there dozens of times, I normally tip around $5 but tonight the waitress literally did nothing. She served our drinks, got one single refill and sat us at our table. That's it. Not enough to really warrant a "tip" so as I was checking out she runs up to cash us out. She sees that I've crossed out the tip line....stops and says "no no you need to tip me" and points at the tip line. She thinks she is guaranteed a tip for doing little to absolutely nothing. This really annoyed me to the point I won't go there again as she felt entitled to this tip enough to call me out in a place where she stands around doing nothing, maybe rolling silverware and escorting people to their seats and occasionally refilling drinks. None of which in my opinion deserves a tip, then when I scratched the bill out I asked her to reprint my receipt which seemed like that was too much for her to comprehend, so she went and got the guy who is the host. I explained to him I needed a reprint of the receipt so the bank doesn't decline and I can fill out her most important tip. Then I proceeded to explain I won't be coming back after her rudely calling out the customer for some entitled tip she believes she deserves. I've overlooked the cleanliness of the restaurant over time because it's been a quaint little hole in the wall my family enjoyed that was semi close by and there weren't any other buffets within a 20-25 minute drive near me that I was/am aware of. I will find a new place to visit because after her stunt it's not worth returning to this mid level establishment on its way into bankruptcy. Keep in mind during this prime dinner time we were 1 of 2 patrons in the business. It's not like they were even slammed and she was running around busting her butt. She literally stood around on her phone, while wrapping silverware. To the host, I hope you have a conversation with her because she has zero customer service skills. She never seems like she is in a great mood. If she isn't happy with her job, find a new one...I get it, this is probably family owned but don't take it out on your customers or call out your regulars for you doing jack squat and not deserving the tip you think you're expected to get.
Clean and friendly service. Lots to choose from and all was delicious. I've been coming here for about 10 years so I'm glad that I looked up the location for someone else. Thank You for Your service work, always a pleasure.
My favorite Chinese place, dine in buffet or to go buffet at $6.90 a lb as they wiegh your container on way out and you pay by weight...best low mein around. I've been going here for 15 years and they have been serving up the best chinese food since 1999, almost 25 years. That should tell you something. Large dining area and loads of parking. $15 dollars all you can eat includes a drink, refills and that's the cost with tax for dinner. Lunch is cheaper. Highly recommend.
Disappointing experience! They automatically add a tip for families, and payment is expected after the meal. The food display was unappetizing, and the options were limited. Not worth the money - would advise saving your cash.
