About China Food

China Food is a Chinese restaurant located at 5201 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA 70806, USA, serving the local community with a variety of Chinese dishes. They can be contacted at (225) 925-8898 or via their mobile number +1 225-925-8898. As a Chinese restaurant in Baton Rouge, China Food aims to provide a range of culinary options, likely for both takeout and dine-in customers.

Based on the contrasting customer reviews, the environment of China Food is described by one reviewer as a "hole in the wall," which often implies a small, unassuming establishment that may prioritize food quality and value over elaborate décor. This suggests a casual and perhaps less formal dining atmosphere. It's a place where the focus is likely on the food itself rather than the ambiance. Customers might expect a no-frills setting that is comfortable enough for a meal but not necessarily designed for a luxurious dining experience. To get a clearer picture of the environment, looking for additional online reviews or perhaps images shared by customers could be helpful.

In terms of services, China Food appears to offer both takeout and dine-in options. One reviewer specifically mentioned ordering takeout ("Not a local, but absolutely recommend this place to everyone!!!"), indicating that this is a service they provide. The positive review also implies a dine-in experience, as they mentioned the overall cost of a meal including drinks. The generous portion sizes noted ("Portions were very generous") suggest that they aim to provide good value in terms of the amount of food served. The positive reviewer also highlighted the affordability of their meals, mentioning that two large portions of chicken fried rice, Kung Pao chicken, and Orange chicken, along with drinks, came out to less than $50. This suggests that China Food is positioned as an affordable option for Chinese cuisine in the Baton Rouge area.

The features of China Food are highlighted by the varying opinions on the food quality. One reviewer expressed significant disappointment, stating that it was the "worst one" among many Chinese restaurants they had tried in Baton Rouge and elsewhere. Specific criticisms included overly salty shrimp, rice that tasted sweet (possibly due to molasses or brown sugar), and soup that tasted like oyster sauce. This reviewer felt that the food did not live up to the restaurant's apparent rating (mentioned as 4.5 stars, though the source of this rating is not provided in the text). This negative review raises concerns about the consistency and quality of some of their dishes. On the other hand, another reviewer found the food to be "absolutely delish!" and specifically praised the generous portions and affordability. This stark contrast suggests that the quality of dishes or individual experiences might vary significantly.

The "hole in the wall" description, while not directly a feature of the food itself, often implies a focus on traditional recipes and home-style cooking, which can be a draw for some customers seeking authentic flavors. The generous portion sizes and affordable pricing, as mentioned by the positive reviewer, are definitely features that could attract budget-conscious diners looking for a substantial meal. However, the negative feedback regarding the taste of specific dishes indicates a potential inconsistency in their food preparation or recipes.

Currently, no specific promotional information for China Food is available in the provided text. It is unknown if they offer any specials, discounts, or promotions to attract customers. Given the mixed reviews on food quality, any potential promotions would need to be considered alongside the possibility of inconsistent culinary experiences. Local users interested in any promotional offers should contact the restaurant directly at (225) 925-8898 or +1 225-925-8898 to inquire. Checking local online directories or social media platforms might also provide information about any current specials or deals.

In conclusion, China Food in Baton Rouge, LA, presents a dichotomy in customer experiences. While one reviewer found the food to be significantly below expectations, another praised it as "absolutely delish!" and highlighted the generous portions and affordability. Described as a "hole in the wall," the environment is likely casual and unpretentious. Services include both takeout and dine-in. The key features seem to be the potentially delicious food and generous portions at an affordable price, though consistency in food quality appears to be a concern based on the negative feedback. Local users should consider these contrasting opinions when deciding whether to try China Food. Perhaps starting with dishes that have received positive mentions, if available from other sources, or trying a takeout order to gauge the quality might be prudent. Contacting the restaurant directly for any current promotions or to ask about specific dishes is also recommended.

I was very disappointed. This was my first time there. The shrimp was super salty. The rice tasted sweet like it had molasses or brown sugar. The soup tasted like oyster sauce. For 4.5 stars I expected way better. I have dined at many Chinese restaurants in Baton Rouge and elsewhere, but this, sadly, is the worst one.

Yeeeeessssss! Definitely a “hole in the wall” but the food is absolutely delish! Portions were very generous. Ordered two large portions of chicken fried rice, Kung Pao chicken, and Orange chicken. Drinks included all came out to less than $50. Not a local, but absolutely recommend this place to everyone!!!

First time visit. My regular Chinese place is closed on Sundays. So we tried this restaurant. Customer Service was Awesome. Food Was Nice & Hot 🔥 Normal wait time, about 10 minutes. It's Sunday, so they were not busy Reasonable prices and good amount of food. The Chicken on the stick and shrimp fry rice was what we ordered. Will definitely come again. Also pictured below; Sweet and sour chicken Black and Pepper chicken

I've never actually dinned in before as we order takeout. The food is delicious and portions are super generous. The dumpling sauce is pretty much my favorite in the area when it's got a kick to it.
