About China Express Washington
Welcome to China Express Washington, a Chinese restaurant located at 857 Jefferson Ave, Washington, PA 15301, USA. As a Chinese restaurant serving the Washington, PA area, China Express Washington offers a diverse menu that includes both traditional Chinese and Americanized Chinese dishes. Based on recent customer reviews, the restaurant is known for its quick service and generally well-received food, although experiences with certain dishes and customer service can vary.
One of the frequently highlighted aspects of China Express Washington is its speed of service. Customers have described the service as "QUICK," making it a convenient option for those looking for a fast meal. This efficiency does not seem to compromise the quality of the food for many patrons, as evidenced by positive remarks about the taste.
The staff at China Express Washington are also often described as "extremely friendly." Positive interactions with staff can significantly enhance the dining experience, and this recurring comment suggests that many customers find the service to be welcoming and pleasant.
China Express Washington boasts a menu that includes a variety of options, as indicated by a reviewer who mentioned having tried "dozens of different food choices" over a 20+ year period of patronage. This longevity suggests a consistent presence and a loyal customer base within the community. According to this long-time customer, they have "NEVER had anything even remotely considered bad or NOT delicious," which is a strong endorsement of the overall food quality.
One of the standout dishes mentioned is the Seafood Lo-Mein. This particular item is described as a favorite, containing "copious amounts" of high-quality shrimp, baby unbreaded scallops, and a "plethora of crab meat." The portion size is also noted to be generous, with one order being enough for "3 GIGANTIC bowls of food," potentially feeding someone for three meals. The reviewer's enjoyment is further enhanced by the addition of "6-8 packets of JUST the Duck Sauce," indicating that condiments are also readily available and contribute to the overall satisfaction of the meal.
The menu also features items like "Breaded Jumbo Scallops & Lo-Mein," which is specifically mentioned as being part of their Chinese/American menu and featured on their website. This suggests a willingness to offer a blend of familiar Americanized Chinese dishes alongside more traditional options.
However, not all customer experiences have been uniformly positive. One recent review expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the dumplings, describing them as "absolutely awful" with "no flavor" and "no meat/vegetables." The reviewer went so far as to say they were the "worst dumplings I have ever consumed," even comparing them unfavorably to grocery store frozen dumplings. This starkly contrasts with the positive feedback on other menu items, indicating a potential inconsistency in the quality of certain dishes.
Adding to the negative experience of the dumpling review was a report of disrespectful behavior from the male staff member who served the customer. The reviewer mentioned addressing him respectfully as "sir" throughout their interaction but felt his behavior was unwarranted. Furthermore, despite giving a $5 tip for a small order of egg rolls and dumplings, the staff member allegedly did not even thank them. This negative customer service experience significantly detracted from the overall impression, even though the reviewer found the egg rolls to be good.
The environment of China Express Washington is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. Based on the quick service model and the mention of a diverse menu, it is likely a casual dining setting focused on efficiency and providing a wide range of choices for takeout and potentially limited dine-in options. The longevity of the restaurant suggests it has established itself as a familiar local eatery.
The services offered by China Express Washington include takeout, as implied by the negative reviewer who received a "go order." The quick service mentioned in a positive review also suggests a focus on efficient order fulfillment for both dine-in and takeout customers. The availability of a wide range of dishes, from seafood lo-mein to breaded scallops, indicates a comprehensive menu catering to different preferences.

Excellent food, QUICK service and extremely friendly 🙂 BTW, below is the Breaded Jumbo Scallops & Lo-Mein, from the Chinese/American menu at the top of their website. I've had dozens of different food choices from here over the 20+ years I've been eating here, and I've NEVER had anything even remotely considered bad or NOT delicious. My absolute FAVORITE dish is the Seafood Lo-Mein. It comes with copies amounts of the best shrimp you'll ever taste, baby unbreaded scallops AND a plethora of crab meat. It's literally enough to make 3 GIGANTIC bowls of food, and therefore feed me for 3 straight days. Add in about 6-8 packets of JUST the Duck Sauce, and I'm beyond a happy customer 😜👽👻😋🤤
Dumplings were absolutely awful. No flavor. No meat/vegetables. Worst dumplings I have ever consumed. Grocery store frozen dumplings are so much better. The male individual who waited on me was extremely disrespectful. I don't understand the reason behind his behavior. I always said "sir" throughout our conversation. I gave him a $5 tip for just ordering egg rolls and dumplings and he didn't even thank me. Egg Rolls were good.
On our road trip to the west coast to see friends before our children starts school. We made a quick dinner stop at this location. I stood in front of the counter to place my order. The older guy tells me that this young boy ( about 8 or 9 years old) will be taking my order. I applauded you on the early teachings to your child.(I too was thought at a very young age.) We placed our order, after doing so… the guy tells me if I pay by CC, he will charge me $1.00 more. I’m not from around here, but I also have never been told such thing. It’s a form of payment, why would you charge $1.00 more?! Because you as a business owner have to pay a fee to the CC company to use their machine and all?!!!! That was your contract with them not mines. When I confronted him of his wrong doing, he stated to me that I’m the first customer to say something. That’s cause you thought you could steal by charging a whole $1.00 more! (Just think for a moment of how many customers he charges that extra $1.00 per day.) Just that alone he makes a profit. If your hard earnings and time is that valuable to you, it is the same for others too. There is NO sign of what so ever of an additional charge for using CC. (If you can zoom in, do so. No sign) When I went to take a photo of his front menu area. This guy came out to take a picture of our car license plate. Soon as I saw him walk outside, I turned my video and confronted that he is on video and this is how he treats his first time new customer. Then he wants to say he doesn’t know any English?! Keep showing your child how you’re a thief and also lier. This is my experience and I would never ever recommend this place to anyone to eat from here, whether eat-in or take-out. Wouldn’t give it any star, but in order to post my experience, I had too.
most of the food is good. deep fried shrimp is always undercooked, so don’t order that unless you’re into raw batter. i’ve ordered it a few times thinking it was a fluke but it’s always grainy and mushy. everything else is super good though. i recommend the dumplings, the general tso’s chicken, the lo mein, and the egg rolls.
After waiting over an hour for this delivery, I decided to call restaurant. Woman said he already left with order. Ok...another 20 minutes passed...finally my dinner? I had requested a fork n spoon as I'm in an extended stay motel with no provisions. Nope...Food was cold and rice lumped and stuck to container! Nothing "Express" about this place except for charging me $25+ for this garbage!!!
