Customer reviews for China East Chinese Restaurant present mixed experiences, particularly regarding food quality and service. One reviewer detailed two separate visits to the restaurant. Their first experience was described as "below par," without specific details. On their second visit, they ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork and expressed significant disappointment. They reported that the pork was "so overly cooked" that it appeared black and had a texture similar to "eating gizzards." Consequently, they did not eat the Sweet and Sour Pork and instead took the entire platter home for their guest's dog. Despite this, they were able to eat the soup and noodles from their order, but still felt that the $20 spent was not justified, giving the experience a thumbs down and stating they would not try the restaurant again.
Another reviewer had a more positive experience with the food, stating that it "was good." However, they noted a service issue, mentioning that they had to get their own straws even after asking for them. Additionally, they pointed out that the waitress asked if they were ready to order an excessive five times within a single minute, which could be perceived as rushed or inattentive service. This reviewer also commented that the Sweet and Sour Chicken they ordered was "really crunchy." While they found the food to be good overall, the service issues were notable.
Based on these two reviews, the food quality at China East Chinese Restaurant appears to be inconsistent. The Sweet and Sour Pork, in particular, received a very negative assessment from one customer due to being severely overcooked. On the other hand, the Sweet and Sour Chicken was described as "good" and "really crunchy" by another reviewer, suggesting that some dishes might be better prepared than others. The first reviewer was only able to eat the soup and noodles, indicating that these might be more reliable options, although this is based on limited information.
Regarding service, both reviews mentioned issues. One customer experienced what they perceived as inattentive or overly persistent service from the waitress, while the other had to self-serve for a basic item like straws after requesting them. These instances suggest potential shortcomings in the attentiveness and efficiency of the service staff.
The reviews do not provide any information about the environment or ambiance of China East Chinese Restaurant. There are no descriptions of the dining area, cleanliness, or overall atmosphere. Therefore, local users will not be able to form an opinion on the restaurant's environment based on this feedback.
Similarly, the services offered by China East are only implied through the reviews. The fact that one customer ordered Sweet and Sour Pork, soup, and noodles suggests that they offer a menu with individual dishes, likely for dine-in or takeout. The delivery service is not mentioned in these reviews, so it is unclear whether China East provides this option to local customers. The service experienced by the dine-in customers was mentioned as having issues, but the basic service of taking orders and serving food is provided.
There is no mention of any special features or unique aspects of China East Chinese Restaurant in these reviews. Local users looking for specific culinary styles or signature dishes will not find that information here. The focus of the feedback is primarily on the quality of specific dishes and the attentiveness of the service.
Finally, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local customers interested in knowing about any special offers, discounts, or lunch specials at China East Chinese Restaurant would need to contact the restaurant directly or check if they have any online presence where such information might be shared.
For local users in Sweetwater considering China East Chinese Restaurant, it is important to weigh the mixed feedback. The positive comment about the "good" Sweet and Sour Chicken suggests that some dishes might be satisfactory. However, the severe criticism of the Sweet and Sour Pork and the reported service issues should give potential customers pause. Individuals who prioritize attentive service and consistent food quality might be hesitant based on these reviews. It might be prudent for new customers to try a less complex dish on their first visit to gauge the restaurant's current standards.
To gain a more comprehensive understanding of China East Chinese Restaurant, local users could consider the following:
- Inquire about their menu: Calling the restaurant to understand the variety of dishes they offer and if they have any specialties.
- Ask about dine-in and takeout options: Confirming the availability of these services.
- Enquire about delivery: Checking if they offer delivery to the local area and any related policies.
- Ask about current promotions: Seeing if they have any special offers or discounts for local customers.
Ultimately, the decision to try China East Chinese Restaurant will depend on individual preferences and risk tolerance based on the available feedback. The limited and mixed nature of the reviews makes it difficult to form a definitive opinion on the overall quality and service of this establishment.
In conclusion, China East Chinese Restaurant in Sweetwater, TN, has received mixed reviews regarding its food quality and service. While one customer found the Sweet and Sour Chicken to be good, another was extremely disappointed with the Sweet and Sour Pork. Both reviewers noted issues with the service. Local users should consider these points when deciding whether to dine at China East and may want to gather more information directly from the restaurant before making a decision.

I have had 2 experiences here. The first was below par. I decided to try it again. I ordered the Sweet and sour pork. I was so disappointed. I sent my entire platter home with my guest to feed it to her dog. It was so overly cooked, you could see the meat and it was black. I tried to eat a few but it was like eating gizzards. Luckily I was able to eat the soup and the noodles. $20 for that. 👎 Will not give it another try.
Food was good. Had to get straw's myself even asking for some. Waitress asked us if we were ready to order 5 times within a minute. Sweet and sour chicken was really crunchy
I want to first say that the workers and employees were super nice, so I don't like giving this review, but the experience at this restaurant food-wise was not good at all. I visited on a Sunday around 1:30 (it goes to 3) for the buffet while there and they never refilled any of the options even though there were quite a few people in there. So maybe what you order regularly would be good, but this day the buffet wasn't good at all. There wasn't much choice, the sweet and sour pork tasted really off, and the meat had been picked out of most of the rest of the choices. I won't be returning here because the food just wasn't good. I paid $13.00 for the buffet, and $3 for hot tea - wishing I hadn't wasted that money :(
I food was tasteless I ordered spicy suchiwan shrimp it’s not even spicy you don’t even feel any spicy taste even I asked on Side For a spicy sauce, that’s just a oily crashed paper no taste of Spiciness! I’m not trying to put down or smear the name of the place but that’s the truth. If you gonna serve food for people, you gotta make it just like you make it for yourself!! people that go out to enjoy and have a variety of food for the money that they’re paying not something taste horrible you know and ruin the day that they wanna enjoy. If these peoples really they put their effort. They can make it a better place It got the potential but otherwise it gives bad names been Chinese food.I wouldn’t recommend for anybody. I’m sorry people they deserve what they pay for.
Most people leave a review for 2 reasons: 1. The place was amazing with great customer service or 2. The place completely failed at everything! My review for this restaurant falls into category 2. We drove from Maryville to Sweetwater to take care of some business. It was around dinner time and we were starving. We happened to see this restaurant and wanted to dine in. We get to the door only to see a note taped to the glass saying carry out only due to Covid. Every restaurant is open in Tennessee except this one. I was still in a great mood so we decided to buy the food to go. We would just eat it in the car. We weren't greeted by the young woman when we came in. No hi or these are our specials today. No how are you? Nothing! She just asked "are you picking up"? We said no we wanted to place an order. She walked away and called some guy up front to take our order. We quickly placed our order and waited for our food. They had some unique art on the wall so I asked if they lit up. She said yep and continued to ignore me. Not even a smile, or let me show you, nothing/nada! Whatever the reason, the lady was rude and unpleasant and had a sullen look on her face the whole time. She took everyone's order that came in except ours (remember she called someone up to wait on us instead). I have no idea why she had an attitude towards us because it was our first (and LAST) time there. We finally got our food and went to the car to eat. Everything was leaking out of the bag in the short time it took us to get to our car. This restaurant should do what other Chinese restaurants do, use styrofoam containers for saucy food. I opened my container that was supposed to be orange chicken only to find what looked like 2 day old, deep fried chicken fingers, drier than a bone. There was a bowl of something that smelled like sweet and sour sauce. I grabbed both and went back inside the restaurant. The guy told me they serve the orange sauce on the side. Disgusting! Absolutely disgusting! The orange sauce needs to cook into the chicken. Orange chicken is always spicy too. Theirs was neither orange, spicy, or fresh. The fried rice is also a joke. I need to contact "Uncle Roger" on YouTube so he can review this place. Fried rice should be brown in color not yellow. I'm German and Swedish and "I" could whip up a better fried rice than this. The crab rangoon lacked any sweetness at all. When I brought my food back the sullen lady called the guy back up front still refusing to wait on me. He offered a different dish to try instead. I agreed, since we had already paid. I went out to my car to wait. My boyfriend suggested we just leave, because they would probably use the same, disgusting, 2 day old chicken to make the next dish. I agreed that "yes" they probably would. We left and never picked up the replacement. I would have to say this was my worst restaurant experience to date. If you love sullen, rude servers, and disgusting old food this place is for you. NOTE: they had a tract about Jesus in plain view. You will definitely not "feel" or get the love of Jesus at this place! I'm praying for them but I most certainly won't be back!
