About China Cottage

Welcome to China Cottage, a Chinese restaurant located at 7040 S U.S. Hwy 85 87 in Fountain, Colorado (zip code 80817). As a local establishment in the Chinese restaurant category, China Cottage aims to serve a variety of Asian dishes, including Chinese and potentially Thai cuisine, to the Fountain community and surrounding areas. You can contact China Cottage by calling them at (719) 390-0377 and using extension 1 for inquiries or to place an order.

Based on the available customer reviews, experiences at China Cottage appear to be quite divergent, with one reviewer expressing high praise while another details significant dissatisfaction. One enthusiastic customer, claiming experience with Chinese food from California and now living in Colorado, asserts that China Cottage offers "the best Chinese food that I have ever had." This reviewer specifically mentioned using their delivery service and found the delivery person to be "super nice and not aggressive." They also noted that their "hot season" food was "on point" and offered a strong recommendation to anyone in the vicinity, inviting others to correct them if their assessment was wrong.

In stark contrast, another reviewer had a considerably negative experience with their meal. They described the food as "way ok" but "not very flavorful" and not spicy as indicated on the menu. Specific dishes mentioned included "crab cheese wontons" which were described as "old," and "chicken on a stick" which was only "slightly flavored." This reviewer also tried a Thai dish, stating that their "Thai meal was ok," but noted that the basil on their chicken was "slimy and didn't have a basil flavor at all." Furthermore, they found the "sweet and sour sauce was bitter" and were quite certain that "the rice was not cooked today." This overwhelmingly negative experience led the reviewer to appreciate their usual Chinese restaurant even more and concluded with "Glad I tried it though," seemingly out of a sense of closure rather than satisfaction.

Considering these two opposing viewpoints, it is difficult to form a definitive judgment about the typical experience at China Cottage. One customer found the food exceptional and the delivery service pleasant, while another encountered multiple issues with the quality, flavor, and freshness of several dishes, including both Chinese and Thai options. This discrepancy suggests a potential inconsistency in food preparation or perhaps a difference in individual taste preferences and expectations.

The mention of "hot season" food being "on point" by the positive reviewer indicates that China Cottage may offer varying levels of spiciness in their dishes, catering to those who enjoy more heat. However, the negative reviewer's experience of the food not being spicy as advertised suggests that this might not be consistently executed.

The negative feedback regarding the crab cheese wontons being old and the rice not being freshly cooked raises concerns about food quality and freshness. Similarly, the issues with the basil chicken and sweet and sour sauce point to potential problems with ingredient quality or recipe execution.

Information about the environment of China Cottage is not provided in these reviews. We do not know about the decor, ambiance, or the general setting of the restaurant. The positive reviewer mentioned delivery, indicating that this service is available. The negative reviewer's experience seems to be based on a takeout or dine-in meal, though this is not explicitly stated. Details about the efficiency of dine-in service, the availability of online ordering, or other services are not mentioned.

Similarly, there is no information regarding any promotional offers or special deals that China Cottage might be running. Local users interested in such information would need to contact the restaurant directly.

In conclusion, China Cottage in Fountain, CO, appears to be a Chinese restaurant that elicits strongly contrasting opinions from its customers. While one reviewer found the food to be the best they've had and praised the delivery service, another experienced multiple issues with flavor, freshness, and quality across several dishes, including both Chinese and Thai selections. Potential local users should be aware of this divergence in feedback. If you are looking for potentially excellent and spicy Chinese food with friendly delivery, it might be worth trying based on the positive review. However, the significant issues raised by the negative reviewer regarding food quality and flavor consistency should also be taken into consideration. Personal experience might be the only way to determine if China Cottage meets individual expectations.

I read all the other reviews and not to be biased I just don't understand what the other reviews/ people know what Chinese food is. Being from California and living in Colorado this is the best Chinese food that I have ever had. I had it delivered and the person that delivered my food was super nice and not aggressive. The food I got was hot season and was on point. I recommend this spot to any and everybody that's in the vicinity. If I'm wrong.. which I hope I'm not.. correct me

The food way ok. Not very flavorful. Not spicy like the menu indicated the crab cheese wontons were old. The chicken on a stick was slightly flavored. My Thai meal was ok. The basil on my chicken was slimy and didn't have a basil flavor at all. The sweet and sour sauce was bitter. The rice was not cooked today that's for sure. Glad I tried it though It made me appreciate the Chinese restaurant we usually go to even more!

Think I've found my place for Chinese food, huge bonus that they do their own delivery outside of the usual. Nothing against the lovely Grubhub delivery drivers, just the fees are comically insane now. The food was delicious, portions were hefty and the prices are great. I'm not one to buy into fortunes but one I got from here said, "Ignore last cookie". I think that's the universe telling me it's time for a new chapter in my life and China Cottage must be a part of it.

Great tasting overall and not oily like normal takeout. Veggie lo mein was very delicious, fresh and crispy veggies, fresh mushrooms and bean sprouts. And they deliver for orders over $20!!! Will definitely order again

Very run down. Tape on the benches. No water cups, buy bottles of water. Charged $1.25 for crispy noodles to put in the soup. Soup and noodles came out in take out containers. I didn't appreciate the nickel and diming, take out containers and run down atmosphere. The service was ok. The food was good, which is a shame because we won't be back.
