About China City

Welcome to China City, a Chinese restaurant located at 3128 Deans Bridge Rd C in Augusta, Georgia. As a local establishment in the Chinese Restaurant category, China City offers Chinese cuisine to the community. However, based on recent customer feedback available online, it is crucial for potential local users to be aware of some very serious issues raised regarding food safety and the efficiency of their service, particularly for takeout orders.

One customer shared an extremely alarming experience, stating unequivocally, "There Was A Maggot In My Food I Will Never Order From Them Ever Again." This review raises a significant food safety concern, suggesting a severe lack of hygiene in the preparation or handling of food at China City. Such an incident can have serious health implications and understandably leads to a complete loss of trust in the restaurant's standards.

Another customer provided feedback on the service aspect, specifically regarding placing takeout orders. While they mentioned that "the food is good," they highlighted a significant drawback: the time it takes to receive a call-in order. According to this reviewer, even when calling ahead, customers should still expect a waiting time of "20-30mins just to receive your food." They indicated that this has been a recurring issue, happening to them "at least three times." Despite this repeated delay, the restaurant reportedly does not offer a discount as compensation but instead might offer a 2-liter soda. This suggests a lack of acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused by the long wait times for takeout orders.

Considering these two recent customer reviews, there are critical concerns that potential patrons of China City should be aware of. The first review points to a severe food safety issue with the discovery of a maggot in the food, which is an unacceptable and potentially dangerous occurrence. The second review, while acknowledging the food's taste as "good," strongly criticizes the inefficiency of the takeout service, citing consistently long wait times even after calling in orders, with a seemingly inadequate form of compensation offered for the inconvenience.

The provided information offers no insights into the environment of China City Restaurant. There are no descriptions of the interior decor, cleanliness, or ambiance of the dining area. The reviews focus solely on food quality (or lack thereof in terms of safety) and the speed of takeout service. Therefore, local users interested in dining in would have no information to gauge the atmosphere of the restaurant.

Similarly, details about the full range of services offered by China City are limited. We know they provide takeout, and the positive mention of food taste by one reviewer suggests they also serve food for consumption (presumably dine-in or takeout). However, there is no information about delivery services, catering options, or any other specific services that might be available.

Regarding features, the only potential positive mentioned is that one reviewer found "the food is good" in terms of taste, although this is heavily overshadowed by the serious food safety concern raised in the other review and the issue of slow takeout service. There are no indications of any unique features, specialties, or aspects that might distinguish China City positively. The long wait times for takeout could be considered a negative feature for those seeking quick meals.

Finally, there is no promotional information available in the provided text. Local users interested in any special offers, discounts, or new menu items at China City would need to contact the restaurant directly to inquire.

In conclusion, the recent customer reviews for China City in Augusta, GA, present significant concerns. The report of a maggot in the food is a serious food safety violation that should not be taken lightly. Additionally, the consistently long wait times for takeout orders, even after calling ahead, indicate a potential inefficiency in their service process. While one reviewer mentioned the food tasted "good," this positive aspect is severely undermined by the aforementioned critical issues. Local users considering China City should be fully aware of these reported problems. It would be advisable to exercise extreme caution and perhaps consider alternative Chinese restaurants in the Augusta area that have more positive and reliable recent feedback, particularly concerning food safety and service efficiency. Given the severity of the issues raised, a recommendation to patronize China City cannot be made based on the currently available information.

The food is good but calling in an oder is really not a call in. You still have 20-30mins just to receive your food. This has happened to me at least three times. They don't offer you a discount but will offer you a 2 liter soda!

Placed an order online and waited over 40 minutes. The overall issue was not the wait, the issue was 2-3 customers coming in 15+ minutes after me and still getting their food prior. My order consisted of 4 smaller items. I’m really not too impatient and so I shrugged off the wait at first. The cashiers were super polite, had a lot of tolerance for rude customers, and did their best. Now for the real review, the food… how do you mess up General Tsos so bad? Out of all of the Chinese I’ve had in the CSRA area, it was the most rubbery and breading filled chicken I’ve had. The sauce was overly sweet and didn’t taste anything like General Tsos and even the large pieces of chicken were less than a quarter of meat. I swear to you all I am not exaggerating my experience. Maybe it was the cooks at the time, maybe it was improper training for breading to meat ratio, I have no idea. I’m just genuinely displeased with having spent what I spent. I’ve had better food on deployment….

Don’t look at me with a straight face and tell me that this is 8 CHICKEN WINGS. This is the equivalent to 4. Overpriced for these little bitty wings you can give to your kids. Also, just because I have my NY accent is an excuse to be rude and act like you can’t hear me. Unacceptable.
