About China City

Welcome to China City, your local Chinese restaurant situated at 1975 Davis Park Rd in Gastonia, North Carolina (28052), USA. As a Chinese Restaurant, China City aims to bring the diverse and flavorful tastes of Chinese cuisine to the Gastonia community. You can reach them at (704) 864-1911 or their mobile number +1 704-864-1911 for inquiries or to place an order.

China City operates within the Chinese Restaurant category, suggesting a menu filled with familiar and perhaps some unique Chinese dishes. These establishments typically offer a variety of options, from classic stir-fries and noodle dishes to rice specialties and flavorful soups. Customers often look to Chinese restaurants for convenient takeout, quick dine-in experiences, and sometimes delivery services, perfect for a satisfying meal at home or a casual outing.

Based on available online information, it appears that customer experiences at China City are varied. One recent review expresses significant dissatisfaction with several dishes. This customer described the pork fried rice as undercooked and lacking in flavor, requiring excessive use of sauces. They also found the breading on the butterfly shrimp to be poor and the shrimp itself to be mushy. Additionally, the egg roll was deemed unappetizing and discarded. The General Tso's chicken, ordered with extra spice and sauce, was considered subpar and not spicy enough. Even the fried cheese wontons were reported to taste reheated, with a chewy texture. While this reviewer noted that the service during pickup was friendly, they expressed concerns about the restaurant's physical condition and the overall quality of the food, stating they would not return.

In contrast, another customer shared a positive experience, highlighting the Hunan Chicken as their favorite, noting it was slightly spicy with plenty of vegetables and served in a large portion. This reviewer also appreciated that their special requests were handled correctly, even during a busy period.

These contrasting reviews suggest that while some customers have found dishes at China City to be satisfactory and even enjoyable, particularly the Hunan Chicken, others have experienced significant issues with the quality and preparation of certain items, such as the pork fried rice, butterfly shrimp, General Tso's chicken, and fried cheese wontons.

When considering China City, it's important to weigh these different perspectives. If you are a fan of Hunan Chicken with a preference for a slightly spicy flavor and plenty of vegetables, this might be a dish worth trying based on the positive feedback. The large portion size mentioned could also be a significant draw for those looking for value.

However, the negative review raises concerns about the consistency and quality of other dishes. Issues such as undercooked rice, poorly prepared fried items, and reheated appetizers are significant factors to consider. The feedback regarding the lack of spice in a dish ordered as "extra spicy" also points to potential inconsistencies in how orders are prepared according to customer preferences.

The mention of the restaurant potentially benefiting from some repairs suggests that the ambiance might not be the primary focus for some patrons. For those prioritizing food quality and taste, this might be a secondary concern, but it's worth noting as part of the overall customer experience.

For local users in Gastonia looking for a Chinese restaurant, China City offers a convenient location and the option for takeout. It might be prudent to consider the mixed reviews when making a decision. If you decide to try China City, perhaps starting with their well-regarded Hunan Chicken could be a good approach. When ordering other dishes, it might be beneficial to clearly communicate any specific preferences regarding spice levels or preparation to ensure your expectations are met.

As with any restaurant, experiences can vary, and it's possible that the issues highlighted in the negative review are not representative of every customer's encounter. However, the detailed feedback provides valuable insight into potential strengths and weaknesses of China City's offerings.

To get a more comprehensive understanding of the current environment, services, and features of China City, local users might consider looking for more recent reviews on various online platforms. Additionally, calling the restaurant directly at (704) 864-1911 or +1 704-864-1911 could provide information about their current menu, any ongoing promotions, and their dine-in or takeout procedures.

In summary, China City is a Chinese restaurant in Gastonia, NC, offering a range of standard Chinese dishes. While one customer praised their Hunan Chicken, another reported significant issues with the quality of several other items. Potential customers should consider these varying experiences when deciding whether to patronize China City and might benefit from seeking more up-to-date feedback or directly contacting the restaurant for the latest information.

So I'm wondering where the taste buds of the people who left positive reviews are. Because I can honestly say this is the worst pork fried rice 🍚 I've ever had. I mean, it's palatable if you're hungry, but if I want to enjoy good fried rice🍚, this isn't it. First, it's not cooked completely, so yay for eating semi-hard, raw rice🍚. Secondly, it definitely seemed they just put the pork on top of an already half-made fried rice🍚. I found myself using ALOT of the duck sauce and soy sauce. The rice🍚 was with the butterfly shrimp🍤; the breading is by far one of the worst I'vehad, and to add, how does fried shrimp 🍤 actually get mushy internally? I ended up throwing away the five shrimp🍤 that were left because I couldn't handle the mushy mess. I also wasn't sure the egg roll that came with my husband's order would be good, so that went in the trash as well. My husband had the General Tso's chicken 🐔 and pork fried rice🍚. We asked for it extra spicy, extra sauce, and um, the spice is a joke. He said the General Tso's was subpar, something you would eat if you were starving. We had fried cheese wontons that tasted as if they were reheated in a microwave. You know how breading, like on pizza or bread 🍞 in general, gets chewy when heated in a microwave. I feel bad for having to write this review, but I don't only post negative reviews. I post honest reviews that tell you the good, the bad, and the ugly, and I can honestly say this restaurant is now on my list of places I will "NEVER GO" again. When my husband went to get the food, I'd say at least they were very nice. The restaurant itself could definitely benefit from some repairs. But if the food is of such low quality, I would definitely focus on that. So, yes, this is my honest review and opinion.

My favorite Hunan Chicken (slightly spicy, lots of vegetables). Large portions. Got my special requests right even though they were extremely busy.
