About China Chef

Welcome to China Chef, a Chinese Restaurant located at 2200 NW 164th St, Edmond, OK 73013, USA. For local users seeking Chinese cuisine in the Edmond area, China Chef presents a mixed picture based on the available customer reviews. While one long-term customer praises the restaurant for its consistently good food and generous portions, another customer reports a serious food safety issue and expresses extreme dissatisfaction with the handling of their complaint.

One long-time patron of China Chef shares a positive experience, stating that they have been going there for years and consistently find the food to be of the "best" quality. This reviewer specifically recommends the fried dumplings and the Hunan Chicken. They also highlight the generous portion sizes, noting that one order is often enough to feed two people, with sufficient fried rice and chicken left over. This positive feedback suggests that China Chef has the potential to provide satisfying and value-for-money meals to its customers.

However, a contrasting and deeply concerning review details a significant food safety incident. A customer who was trying China Chef for the first time with friends ordered $42 worth of food, including tofu and vegetables. Upon taking a bite of their dish, they encountered a sharp piece of metal in their food. Understandably alarmed, they spat it out and confirmed the presence of metal. This is a serious issue that raises significant concerns about food preparation and safety standards at the restaurant.

The reviewer further reports a negative experience when attempting to address this issue with the owners. They describe the owners as "very rude" and states that they did not receive an apology or any attempt to rectify the situation adequately. The customer alleges that the owners acted as if such incidents were commonplace. The resolution offered was a $7 refund for the cheapest meal ordered, and despite providing their card information again, the refund was reportedly never processed. This account of poor customer service in response to a serious food safety concern is deeply troubling and should be a significant consideration for potential customers.

The concluding statement from the dissatisfied customer is a strong condemnation, advising against patronizing China Chef unless one has a negative self-regard and a desire for potentially harmful food alongside subpar quality. This stark warning underscores the severity of the reported experience and the level of dissatisfaction with both the food safety and the customer service response.

Given these two vastly different accounts, it is challenging to provide a definitive assessment of China Chef. The positive review highlights the potential for good food, particularly the fried dumplings and Hunan Chicken, along with generous portions. This suggests that the restaurant may have established some level of consistency in its popular dishes over the years, leading to loyal customers.

However, the negative review raises critical concerns about food safety and customer service. The presence of metal in a dish is unacceptable and indicates a potential breakdown in kitchen processes. The alleged rudeness and lack of appropriate response from the owners in addressing this serious issue further compound the problem. Such an experience can severely damage a restaurant's reputation and erode customer trust.

For local users in Edmond considering China Chef, it is essential to weigh these contrasting experiences. The positive review suggests that some customers have had satisfactory meals and appreciate the value offered by the portion sizes. However, the reported food safety incident and the subsequent negative interaction with the owners are serious red flags that potential customers should be aware of.

Without further information regarding the restaurant's environment, other services (such as dine-in or delivery, although takeout is implied), or any promotional information, we must rely solely on these two customer reviews to form an objective introduction. The conflicting nature of these reviews makes it difficult to provide a straightforward recommendation. Potential customers might want to exercise caution and consider these experiences when making their decision.

If you are considering ordering from China Chef, you may want to inquire about their food preparation processes and quality control measures. While one customer has had years of positive experiences, the reported incident of finding metal in food cannot be ignored. The way the owners allegedly handled the complaint also raises concerns about their commitment to customer satisfaction and food safety.

In conclusion, China Chef in Edmond, Oklahoma, presents a dichotomy of customer experiences. While some patrons have enjoyed their food and found the portions generous, a significant food safety issue and a negative customer service encounter have also been reported. Local users should consider these contrasting viewpoints when deciding whether to patronize this establishment. To make an informed decision, you may want to seek more recent reviews or perhaps try a small order initially to assess the current quality and safety standards. You can contact China Chef at (405) 285-9899 or +1 405-285-9899 for inquiries or to place an order. Please be aware of the varying customer experiences detailed in the provided reviews.

I had high hopes for this place on a day where I was hanging out with some friends, we ordered $42 worth of food and this was our first experience at this restaurant. I got tofu and vegetables and when I took a bite I felt something sharp in my mouth. I instinctively spit it out and realized that there was metal in my food. I called and tried to resolve this with the owners and they were very rude and did not apologize or do anything to make things right. They acted like this happens all the time they asked for my card information again so they could refund me $7 for the cheapest meal I ordered and they never refunded me anything after I gave them my card information again. I do not recommend this place unless you hate yourself and want to shred your insides while simultaneously nourishing your body with food that is just not very good to begin with.

It's alright... Not very good and small portions for the price. Barely any chicken and mostly breading, 3 pieces of broccoli, and white rice when the menu said fried. Not impressed and probably will not be back. Don't trust the picture, I'm just a good photographer.

Food is always great on the fast food Chinese scale. Here's the problem. I always call in my order, drive over. Tonight, no matter what I tried, a person on the other end kept saying what or sorry or would say back the wrong thing. Frustrated, I drive over to give my order in person to a ten year-old who had to ask someone else about how to key in some of the items. That was not awesome.

This place has MAJOR problems. Firstly, when you phone in an order for pick up, you have to repeat EACH item back to the woman who answers the phone THREE times. Recently, they put Wontons inside of egg drop soup, like they changed their mind in the middle of fixing it. Half of our order was wrong, and for about 6 SMALL appetizers we got charged $19 when they told us over the phone it was $14 and some odd change. We know this is NOT a language problem, because before they changed the way they took phone orders they mostly got the orders right. In the last 3 months this place has taken a SERIOUS downturn in customer service and quality of food and they seemingly think unhappy customers are some kind of personal entertainment for them. THIS PLACE WILL NOT STAY IN BUSINESS IF THEY CONTINUE DOWN THIS SAME ROAD, THEY WILL GO BANKRUPT before next Easter. If I could give this place zero stars, I would, but google forces people to give at least 1 star to even garbage businesses. We are now searching for a DIFFERENT place to get Chinese (we eat Chinese food regular, their loss in $$$), hope the lost money gives them some laughs.
