About China Chef Express

Welcome to China Chef Express, a Chinese restaurant located at 1222 Obispo Ave in Long Beach, California. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, China Chef Express aims to provide a variety of Chinese dishes to the local community. Based on customer reviews, the restaurant has garnered both high praise for its food quality and some concerns regarding consistency and service.

Details regarding the specific environment of China Chef Express are somewhat limited in the provided reviews. However, the mention of "always a line to get in" suggests that the restaurant is popular and likely has a bustling atmosphere during peak hours. This could indicate a lively and perhaps somewhat crowded dining area. The fact that there is "plenty of parking" is a significant convenience for customers choosing to dine in or pick up takeout orders, making the location easily accessible despite its popularity.

In terms of services, China Chef Express primarily functions as a dine-in and takeout establishment. The "always a line to get in" implies a significant volume of both dine-in and potentially takeout orders. One positive review highlights the "great service," indicating that the staff is generally efficient and helpful. However, a contrasting review details an experience where a customer felt their specific request was ignored, and there was a perceived difference in communication skills depending on the nature of the inquiry. This suggests that while some customers experience excellent service, there might be inconsistencies in customer care.

The food at China Chef Express has received varied feedback. One reviewer enthusiastically declared it "one of the best in Long Beach," specifically praising the "amazing" food, the "incredible" teriyaki chicken, and the "superb" fried chicken. This positive review also noted that the "portions are plentiful" and that the sauces are particularly enjoyable. This suggests that when the food is prepared to its best, it is highly regarded by customers and offers good value in terms of quantity.

However, a more critical review describes a recent experience where the food was "bland" and resulted in multiple people having upset stomachs. This raises concerns about the consistency of food quality over time. The same reviewer also reported finding "a piece of hair fried into the shrimp," which is a significant sanitation issue. This customer, a long-time patron, expressed disappointment with the decline in food quality and sanitation, emphasizing that these are paramount in the restaurant industry. The discrepancy between these two reviews indicates a potential variability in the standards of food preparation and hygiene at China Chef Express.

Features of China Chef Express, based on the reviews, include its popular teriyaki and fried chicken dishes, plentiful portion sizes, and flavorful sauces, at least according to one positive account. The consistent lines suggest a strong local following, indicating that many customers find their offerings appealing. The availability of "plenty of parking" is also a notable convenience for customers. However, potential downsides, as indicated by the negative review, include possible inconsistencies in food quality, potential sanitation issues, and reported instances of unsatisfactory customer service.

There is no specific promotional information mentioned in the provided reviews for China Chef Express. It is common for Chinese restaurants to offer daily specials, lunch combinations, or discounts on family-sized meals. To inquire about any current promotions or special offers at China Chef Express, it would be best to contact them directly at (562) 985-9918 or +1 562-985-9918. They may also have information about specials available at the restaurant or on their website or social media channels, if they have them. Calling ahead can provide the most up-to-date information on any deals they might be running.

In conclusion, China Chef Express in Long Beach, CA, is a Chinese restaurant that has garnered both strong positive and negative feedback from its customers. While some reviewers consider it "one of the best in Long Beach" with "amazing" teriyaki and fried chicken, plentiful portions, and great service, others have reported issues with bland food, sanitation concerns such as finding hair in the food, and instances of poor customer service. The restaurant is popular, as evidenced by the frequent lines, and offers ample parking. Potential customers should weigh the positive and negative feedback when considering dining at China Chef Express and might want to inquire about their current food quality and hygiene practices. Given the contrasting experiences, it may be prudent to approach with cautious optimism.

One of the best in Long Beach. The food is amazing. Teriyaki chicken is incredible. Fried chicken is superb. There's always a line to get in. Portions are plentiful. Love their sauces. They're a little pricey and their drinks are kinda small but overall it's an awesome place to eat. Plenty of parking and great service.

I hate to write this review because I have been going here for years but this experience was different. The food was bland and everyone had a upset stomach’s. There was a piece of hair fried into the shrimp and was found all the way down in the box about 3/4th down and i asked the woman particularly for smaller pieces of chicken and she ignored me like she didn’t understand but when I asked them why are they charging me so much for extra shrimp then her English became perfect. So it let me know she feels she didn’t have to satisfy the customer because she acts like she doesn’t understand. I was really shocked at the overall situation because as I said I have been going here since a child hence the 3 stars and not 1. The food quality, health of the customer and sanitation is the most important thing when dealing in restaurants. I can get over the attitude or passive disrespect.

Believe me when I say you’re better off going anywhere else. The service was okay, but the food was terrible. Noodles had no flavor and orange chicken was over saturated with the sauce. Broccoli &beef were mid. You can eat like a king anywhere else, even at McDonald’s and that’s not an exaggeration. I rather go somewhere with bad customer service that serves good food.

Fresh food great price. Cash only. Mainly chicken dishes. Combo comes with a spring roll and a small drink. Parking is plenty at the Belmont Center. Line is out the door.
