About China Cafe

Welcome to China Cafe, a Chinese restaurant located at 10494 Westport Rd, Louisville, KY 40241, USA. As a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, China Cafe offers a variety of Chinese dishes and appears to provide delivery services. You can contact China Cafe at (502) 425-1818 or via their mobile number at +1 502-425-1818 for inquiries or to place an order.

Recent customer reviews regarding China Cafe present a stark contrast in experiences, particularly concerning the food quality for dine-in or large orders versus the efficiency of their delivery service. One group of customers expressed significant disappointment with a large order placed for 15 people. They had initially been optimistic about trying China Cafe based on previous positive reviews and a local friend's recommendation from months prior. However, their experience was overwhelmingly negative, as they found "not a single good entree" among the various dishes they ordered.

Specifically, this group ordered three different types of chicken dishes: Sesame Chicken, Orange Chicken, and General Tso's Chicken. A major criticism was the indistinguishable nature of these dishes once they were plated. The customers reported that all three chicken varieties tasted exactly the same, indicating the use of what they believed to be the same exact sauce across all three. This lack of differentiation in flavor was a significant letdown.

Furthermore, the same group of reviewers found the chicken content in their dishes to be minimal, with an excessive amount of breading. They described playing a "game" to see who could find any chicken at all inside the breading and who could find the largest piece, ultimately concluding that there was very little chicken, and even the largest pieces were extremely small. This led to a strong overall negative recommendation, with the customers expressing disappointment with all 17 dishes they had ordered.

In contrast, another customer shared a positive experience specifically related to the delivery service offered by China Cafe. This reviewer praised the "unbeatable" delivery times and highlighted the "happiest, nicest delivery drivers around." This suggests that China Cafe may excel in its delivery operations, providing prompt and courteous service to customers who opt for this option.

However, this same customer also pointed out a significant issue related to the restaurant's closing hours and order cutoff times. While China Cafe is stated to close at 10 pm, this reviewer noted that attempting to call in an order after 9:30 pm, even for pickup, is often unsuccessful, with the phone frequently going unanswered. They observed that the restaurant staff appears to begin closing procedures well before the stated closing time, often turning off lights and having everything cleaned up by 9:45 pm. This discrepancy between the advertised closing time and the practical cutoff for placing orders was a source of frustration for this customer, impacting their desire to fully patronize the establishment. They suggested that China Cafe should either adhere to its stated closing time for order placement or clearly indicate an earlier cutoff time in their advertisements.

Considering these reviews, China Cafe appears to have strengths in its delivery service, particularly in terms of speed and the demeanor of its drivers. However, there are significant concerns raised about the quality and differentiation of its main entrees, especially for larger orders, with criticisms focusing on the similarity in sauces and the minimal amount of chicken in heavily breaded dishes. Additionally, there are issues reported regarding the consistency of service related to closing times and the ability to place orders close to the advertised hours.

The reviews do not provide specific details about the environment or ambiance of China Cafe for dine-in customers. The focus is primarily on the food quality for a large takeaway order and the efficiency and reliability of the delivery service, along with the operational practices concerning closing times.

Similarly, there is no mention of any specific promotional offers or discounts in the provided reviews. Customers interested in learning about any specials or promotions at China Cafe would need to contact the restaurant directly.

In conclusion, China Cafe in Louisville, KY, presents a mixed profile based on recent customer feedback. While its delivery service is praised for its speed and friendly drivers, there are significant concerns about the quality and consistency of its food, particularly for large orders of common chicken dishes, which have been described as indistinguishable and containing very little meat. Additionally, the restaurant's practice of seemingly ceasing order-taking well before its stated closing time could be a point of frustration for customers. Local users considering China Cafe should weigh these factors based on their priorities, whether it's efficient delivery, the quality of large-scale orders, or the ability to place orders close to the advertised closing time. Further investigation or more recent reviews might provide a more comprehensive understanding of the current state of China Cafe's offerings and services. As there is no information on the dine-in environment or specific promotions, potential customers should consider contacting the restaurant directly for more details on these aspects.

We were excited to try this place, it had good reviews and a local friend said months ago it was good. Short version, it is not! We ordered for a group of 15 so plenty of options and not a single good entree. Ordered 3 types of chicken (sesame, orange, and general tso). Once on your plate you could NOT tell 1 from the other, they all taste exactly the same and definitely had the same exact sauce. Also it was all bread we started playing a game to see who could find chicken at all inside the bread and who could find the largest piece. End result, very little chicken and the largest piece was extremely small. So overall would not recommend. We were so disappointed with all 17 dishes we ordered.

I love eating here. Their delivery times are unbeatable, with the happiest, nicest delivery drivers around. This may be no big deal to a lot of people and I hope it isn’t to most, but personally…it destroys my desire to patronize this place fully. They close at 10pm, but you’ve gotta have good luck if u want to call in an order after 9:30, even for a pick up order. Most of the time they won’t even answer the phone. I understand not wanting to send out a delivery at 9:50 or not having to cook after you’ve put things away, but don’t say your open till 10pm then, or clearly state in your ads that u don’t take orders after 9:30. They literally turn the lights off and walk out the door at 10pm on the dot. They’ve already put everything away and cleaned up by 9:45. If u say ur open till 10, that means I should b able to place an order up to that time, unless its stated otherwise, IMO.

Stopover on our way home to Chicago. Saw 4.4 stars and it was close to the hotel. Vegetable Lomein Shrimp fried rice Sweet and sour chicken Egg rolls Crab Rangoon Fried Chicken wings Everything that was fried tasted like burnt or old oil. The rest bland and tasteless. If this is 4.5+ stars I feel for you. Would never recommend.

ARE THERE NEW OWNERS?!?! Eaten take out from here multiple times and was always excellent. This last time was horrible! RAW crab rangoon, and flavorless bourbon chicken smothered in green peppers with a bland runny sauce. Egg rolls cooked in old oil dripping with grease. Not a single crispy noodle with the hot and sour soup that was far more spice than sour. Shocked and disappointed! It makes sense now why there were 6-9 bags of ready to go orders sitting on the counter when I arrived. I bet it is easy to provide fast service when you don't take the time to cook the food properly.

I’ve from Chicago and I’m used to excellent Chinese food, this one definitely didn’t make the cut. My bag was drenched in grease and the food wasn’t appealing. Egg rolls were dripping with grease. Sweet and sour was overcooked. Fried rice was greasy and bland. I’ve had better. Do not recommend.
