About China Cafe Chinese food & Japanese Hibachi

Welcome to China Cafe Chinese food & Japanese Hibachi, located at 1760 SC-14 in Landrum, South Carolina (29356), USA. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, with the added feature of Japanese Hibachi, this establishment aims to offer a diverse Asian culinary experience to the local community. You can contact them at (864) 457-3836 or their mobile number +1 864-457-3836 for inquiries.

As a Chinese Restaurant and Japanese Hibachi establishment, China Cafe likely offers a menu that includes a range of popular Chinese-American dishes alongside Japanese hibachi options such as grilled meats, seafood, and vegetables prepared on a flat iron griddle. This dual offering can appeal to a broad range of customers with different culinary preferences. However, the limited customer reviews available online present a stark and concerning contrast, with serious allegations raised about food safety alongside positive feedback on certain dishes.

One particularly alarming review expresses extreme dissatisfaction, stating that if the reviewer could leave zero stars, they would. They describe the place as "disgusting" and suggest it should be shut down by the health department. The most serious accusation made in this review is that the reviewer witnessed the restaurant staff taking food from an Aldi dumpster. Based on this observation, the reviewer believes that the numerous complaints about the food tasting gross are due to the use of discarded food in their dishes. They emphatically state that the restaurant needs to be shut down due to these alleged unsafe practices.

In stark contrast, another reviewer shared a positive experience, praising several specific dishes. They found the General Tso's chicken and Hunan chicken to be "super good." Additionally, they mentioned that their wife enjoys the hibachi steak and scallops. Other dishes that received positive feedback from this reviewer include the Singapore Mei Fun and the chicken wings. This review suggests that when fresh and properly sourced ingredients are used, China Cafe is capable of producing enjoyable meals.

The extreme divergence between these two reviews paints a deeply troubling picture of China Cafe. While one customer found several dishes to be very good, another made a serious allegation of using discarded food from a dumpster, citing this as the reason for the food tasting gross. This accusation, if true, would represent a severe violation of health and safety standards and would undoubtedly deter any potential customers. The positive review, while encouraging for the specific dishes mentioned, is overshadowed by the gravity of the food safety concerns raised in the negative review.

Regarding the environment of China Cafe, the negative review's description of the place as "disgusting" suggests potential issues with cleanliness or the overall condition of the restaurant. The positive review does not comment on the environment, focusing solely on the taste and quality of the food. Therefore, based on the limited and conflicting information, there is no clear indication of the restaurant's ambiance or hygiene standards, although the serious allegation in one review raises significant concerns.

The services offered by China Cafe likely include both Chinese takeout and Japanese hibachi dining. The positive review mentions hibachi steak and scallops, suggesting that they have the necessary equipment and staff to prepare these dishes. The takeout service is implied by the positive feedback on dishes like General Tso's chicken, Hunan chicken, Singapore Mei Fun, and chicken wings, which are commonly ordered for takeout. However, the negative review, with its severe food safety allegations, casts a dark shadow over the trustworthiness and quality of these services.

In terms of features, the dual offering of Chinese cuisine and Japanese hibachi is a notable aspect of China Cafe. The positive reviewer highlights the quality of specific dishes from both sides of the menu, suggesting that they may have strengths in both areas when proper ingredients and preparation methods are followed. However, the alleged use of dumpster food, if true, would negate any positive features and represent a fundamental breach of customer trust and safety.

There is no information available in the provided reviews regarding any promotional offers, discounts, or specials that China Cafe might be running. Local users interested in such information would need to contact the restaurant directly at the provided phone numbers or inquire when visiting the establishment. However, given the serious food safety concerns raised, potential customers may be hesitant to do so.

For local users in Landrum seeking a Chinese or Japanese hibachi restaurant, the available reviews for China Cafe present an extremely serious dilemma. The positive feedback on specific dishes is encouraging, but it is completely overshadowed by the horrifying allegation of using food from a dumpster. If this allegation is accurate, it represents an unconscionable disregard for customer health and safety. Potential customers should be extremely cautious and may want to seek further information or reviews from other sources, including local health department records, before considering China Cafe. The severity of the food safety concern raised in one review cannot be understated and should be a primary consideration for anyone thinking of patronizing this establishment.

In conclusion, China Cafe Chinese food & Japanese Hibachi in Landrum, SC, offers a menu of both Chinese and Japanese dishes. However, customer reviews present a drastic contrast, with positive feedback on the taste of certain items being completely undermined by an extremely serious allegation of using food taken from a dumpster. This allegation, if true, raises severe health and safety concerns and should be a critical factor for local users considering this restaurant. Due to the gravity of these claims, potential customers are advised to exercise extreme caution and seek further information before making a decision.

If I could leave them zero stars I would. This place is disgusting and should be shut down by the health department. I also witnessed them taking food from the Aldi dumpster. So much reviews about food tasting gross and that is the reason why!! They are making dishes from the dumpster food!! So gross! They need to be shut down!!

Super good General Tso's and Hunan chicken. My wife likes the hibachi steak and scallops. The Singapore Mei Fun is also very good, as are the chicken wings.

The hot and sour soup was neither hot(spicy) nor sour. Our food was so unremarkable I can't remember anything else.

I order takeout at least once a week. The food is the best that it has ever been at this little restaurant in Landrum . The service has been exceptional and my food is always ready when I arrive. Management is doing a wonderful job with much improved food from the last owners. Thank you very much.
