About China Buffet
Located at 101 Plaza Rd hwy150 suite 121, Stanford, KY 40484, USA, China Buffet is a Chinese restaurant aiming to provide a dining experience for local residents and those passing through the area. As a Chinese restaurant, its primary offering revolves around a buffet-style service, a common format in many Chinese eateries across the United States, allowing diners to select from a variety of dishes.
The restaurant's convenient location on Plaza Road, just off Highway 150, makes it accessible for both residents of Stanford and travelers. The phone number for inquiries or general information is (606) 365-3339, which is also available as a mobile number at +1 606-365-3339.
When considering the environment of a buffet-style restaurant like China Buffet, the typical expectation is a layout designed to accommodate a steady flow of customers and facilitate easy access to the food stations. These establishments often feature spacious dining areas with multiple tables and chairs, arranged to allow for both individual diners and larger groups. The decor in Chinese buffets often incorporates elements of traditional Chinese aesthetics, such as artwork, lanterns, or thematic color schemes, though the specific execution can vary widely from one establishment to another. The general aim is to create a comfortable and functional space where guests can enjoy their meal. The environment of a buffet place is crucial for diners, as it directly impacts their comfort and the overall dining experience. Factors such as lighting, cleanliness, and the organization of the buffet lines contribute significantly to this.
China Buffet, as its name suggests, primarily offers a buffet service. This means that customers pay a fixed price for all-you-can-eat access to a range of Chinese dishes. This type of service is popular for its variety and value, allowing diners to sample different items and control their portion sizes. Common offerings at such buffets usually include a selection of appetizers like egg rolls and crab rangoon, various stir-fried noodle and rice dishes, multiple meat and vegetable entrees, and sometimes a salad bar and dessert station. Beyond the buffet, many Chinese restaurants also offer beverages for purchase. The self-service nature of a buffet means that while there are staff present to replenish food, clear tables, and assist with general inquiries, the interaction with waitstaff might be less frequent compared to a full-service, à la carte restaurant.
The core feature of China Buffet is its expansive selection of Chinese-American cuisine. This genre of food typically blends traditional Chinese cooking techniques and flavors with ingredients and preparations that appeal to American palates. Diners can expect to find popular dishes such as General Tso's chicken, lo mein, fried rice, sweet and sour pork, and various types of seafood and vegetable stir-fries. The benefit of a buffet is the opportunity to try a little bit of everything, making it an ideal choice for groups with diverse preferences or for individuals looking to explore new dishes. The constantly rotating nature of some buffet items can also provide a fresh experience with each visit, as new dishes might be introduced based on seasonal ingredients or chef's specials. The goal of a buffet is to offer a wide enough array of choices that every diner can find something to enjoy, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences within the scope of Chinese-American fare.
While specific promotional information is not available, typical promotions for buffet restaurants often include special pricing for lunch versus dinner, discounts for children, or holiday specials. These can be attractive incentives for potential customers. Given the nature of a buffet, the experience is largely driven by the quality and freshness of the food available, as well as the cleanliness and efficiency of the service.
It is important for prospective diners to be aware of the range of customer experiences reported. Some online reviews for China Buffet indicate significant dissatisfaction, with criticisms specifically mentioning the use of paper or Styrofoam plates and questioning the quality of the food. One review stated, "Absolutely the worst place I’ve eaten. Charging steak house prices for you to eat off paper plates. Food quality i gave one star because its the lowest possible. It’s worse than 1 star." Another echoed similar sentiments, remarking, "Without a doubt the worst Chinese food I've eaten. After reading two glowing reviews I decided to stop on my way through. Well I'm convinced both reviews were from people affiliated with the restaurant. Also they use Styrofoam plates. Sorry, do not normally post bad reviews." These reviews suggest that some customers have found the dining experience, particularly the food quality and presentation (use of disposable plates), to be below their expectations.
When considering dining at China Buffet, it may be beneficial to temper expectations based on these reported experiences, particularly concerning the quality of the food and the use of disposable dinnerware. It is advisable to visit with an open mind or to consider these points if specific aspects like plateware or food quality are significant factors in your dining choices. Buffets, by their nature, can have varying levels of quality, and individual experiences can differ.

The most disgusting overpriced food I have ever eaten. Just horrible. Filthy dishes on carts right next to buffet right beside the large garbage can that is filled with foul smelling food thrown out from other patrons. Staff member scooping remnants of a commercial can of pudding into buffet with no apparent shame that they serve such —- while coughing near buffet, no less. Just horrible. Beyond horrible, even. All this for $27 for two. Total rip off.
Went for dinner, wasn't expecting too much. But my mom and sister got some chicken dish and the pieces were raw. Let the waitress know she went and got someone, for the lady to then look at me and say the chicken was not raw that's just how it looks because it's all cooked together. To then right after that have the cook come out and take the dish to the back, and have the waitress hand us our bill after we just sat down.
Friendly service and food is almost always very good. Almost anyway, has a lot to do with what time of day you visit. Because if past lunch, yet before dinner, or after dinner you have a 50/50 shot of coming in to fresh food or the fries up hopes and dreams of of some lifeless shell left from something that was good food long long ago in a galaxy far far away.. although I try to come as close to lunch as possible it's all good then. It's a quite place to eat with some great choices on the buffet. Now we have all heard the stereo types about this type of resteraunt 🙀... Now don't you worry about that for a single second. All of their meat options are labeled as your normal choices, chicken, beef, pork, fish, etc.... every now and then you may get a few cuts that just have a completely different texture.... yes in the back of my mind I'm thinking to myself I wonder what the chances are that this could be a different tryp of meat, but then I'm like I ro uld care anyway because it taste great.. if you do visit make sure to try the hot and sour soup very taste.
