China Buffet operates as an all-you-can-eat buffet, providing customers with a diverse range of Chinese culinary options. A notable feature mentioned in the reviews is their fully stocked buffet with a lot of fresh food and the inclusion of a full sushi bar, catering to a variety of tastes. The restaurant aims to offer a convenient and abundant dining experience for the local Lowell community.
Based on customer feedback, the environment at China Buffet is that of a typical buffet-style restaurant. One long-time customer mentioned that they had always enjoyed coming to China Buffet, suggesting a generally pleasant atmosphere that has been consistent over the years. Another review noted that the buffet is "fully stocked," implying a focus on providing a wide array of choices for diners.
In terms of services, the primary offering of China Buffet is its all-you-can-eat buffet. This allows customers to sample a variety of dishes at a fixed price. The restaurant also features a sushi bar, indicating a broader selection beyond traditional Chinese cuisine. One reviewer mentioned that lunch is around $17 total, which includes an automatically added 15% tip. This suggests a specific pricing structure for their lunch service. While not explicitly stated, it can be inferred that the restaurant provides dine-in service as the core of its operation, given the buffet format.
A key feature of China Buffet is the variety and freshness of the food offered on the buffet line, including a dedicated sushi bar. One reviewer who had been a customer for years consistently found the food to be "pretty good." Another customer also noted that the buffet is stocked with "a lot of fresh food." This emphasis on variety and freshness is a significant aspect of the dining experience at China Buffet.
However, one detailed review raised serious concerns regarding hygiene practices. This customer witnessed an employee who was restocking the buffet drop a piece of salmon fillet onto the counter where trays are set. The reviewer reported that the employee struggled to pick it up with the serving spoon and, after it slid across the counter, ultimately placed it back into the tray for customers to consume. This incident was described as "unsettling" and "unsanitary" due to the potential for germ exposure from the counter.
The same reviewer also observed the same employee stocking food at another buffet line while wearing gloves but then picking up her phone and continuing to handle food without changing the gloves. This practice was also highlighted as a hygiene concern. While acknowledging that mistakes can happen, the reviewer expressed significant doubt about returning to the restaurant due to these observed practices, despite finding the food to be generally good.
The review also mentioned that the service could feel "rushed," with servers frequently checking if customers were finished. While the long-time customer was used to this and it did not bother them, it is a point of feedback regarding the service style at China Buffet.
Currently, there is no information available regarding any specific promotional offers or discounts at China Buffet from the provided reviews. Buffets sometimes offer special pricing for certain days or times, or discounts for seniors or children. To learn about any current promotions or special deals, it would be best to check the restaurant's website (if available) or contact them directly via phone. Local residents might also find information about promotions through local advertisements or community platforms.
In conclusion, China Buffet in Lowell offers a buffet-style dining experience with a wide selection of Chinese dishes and a sushi bar. A long-time customer generally praised the consistent quality of the food. However, a recent detailed observation by another customer raised significant concerns about hygiene practices related to food handling and potential cross-contamination. The service was noted to be sometimes rushed. The price for lunch was mentioned as being around $17, including an automatic 15% tip. For local users considering dining at China Buffet, it is advisable to weigh the positive feedback regarding food variety and freshness against the reported hygiene concerns. To inquire about current promotions or to gain more insight into their practices, contacting the restaurant directly may be beneficial.

Customer Reviews
I’ve been coming to China Buffet in Lowell for years and have always enjoyed it. The food is consistently good, and while the service can feel rushed with servers frequently checking if you’re all set, it’s never bothered me since I’m used to it. However, during my most recent visit, I witnessed something that really changed how I feel about eating here. One of the employees who restocks the buffet accidentally dropped a piece of salmon fillet onto the hard counter area where the trays are set. She struggled to pick it up using the same serving spoon she was using to restock the tray. After the fillet slid across the counter, she eventually picked it up and placed it into the tray she was carrying so I assumed she was going to discard it. Unfortunately, she ended up mixing it back into the tray for customers to eat. I know things happen, and I’m sure this isn’t the first or last time mistakes like this occur, but seeing it happen firsthand was unsettling. It’s unsanitary to serve food that’s touched the counter, which sees constant exposure to germs. On top of that, the same employee was earlier stocking food at another buffet line while wearing gloves, but she picked up her phone and continued stocking food without changing them. The food was, as always, pretty good, but after witnessing these practices, I’m not sure I’ll be returning.
This Chinese buffet is fully stocked with a lot of fresh food. It has a full sushi bar. The temperature is kept lukewarm solar foods stay fresh longer. Lunch is only around $17 total with 15% tip automatically added into it
Went out with my niece & sister out today. Drinks came fast, friendly atmosphere. I’ve been a longtime customer here. In the past I have seen roaches in * the bathroom *and they’re common in the area unfortunately. Never in the food though. Today when we walked up to scoop her ice cream, this German Cockroach crawled up from IN the ice cream cooler and slid away (I was able to photograph its leg). While the food (everything except the hard orange chicken) was deliciously prepared, this was enough to have us stop eating immediately and take the check, we were comped 50% off without asking when quietly bringing this up to the front desk, as to not cause a scene. It is not my intention to purposely scare away future business/regulars, however I feel this should be known about. The front desk was friendly, apologized promptly more than once. They did agree that they have had a problem and they do receive pest control services. I’m hoping that maybe they can switch companies/look into how bad the infestation is. The service was great but there is definitely what seems to be an ongoing pest control issue. This was during the day, between 5-6 pm.
Weekdays lunch buffet is good for the price. Be aware that they surcharge 15% tip no matter what. Staff are friendly and prompt so they deserve the tip. Still under $18 including tax for good sushi rolls Some may be disappointed for weekend and dinner buffet though. Some dishes were cooled down and dried although I could not find why. They all looked fresh out of kitchen. I think they should get a new dish warmer. No room for ice cream although there were about 6 to choose from. Overall, this is a great Chinese buffet place for weekdays lunch.
First of all I wasn't expecting too much of a buffet but the food was a little bit worse than expected in the sense of you could taste it was old and just rewarmed up multiple times. My biggest issue was the places was the same 10 year's ago, and you honestly feel rushed out the door you're finishing a plate of food and they're already taking it away and it's almost like they want your money and get you the hell out of there price wise super expensive $57 for two people with the buffet and one Coke
