About China Buffet

China Buffet, situated at 205 N Arlington St, Salisbury, NC 28144, USA, is a Chinese restaurant offering an extensive all-you-can-eat buffet experience to the local community. You can reach them at (704) 637-6808 or via their mobile number +1 704-637-6808 for any inquiries. As a Chinese buffet, China Buffet provides a wide selection of dishes, typically featuring steam tables filled with a variety of fried and grilled meats, noodles, rice, soups, and other classic Chinese-American fare. This format allows diners to sample a multitude of options and eat to their fill at a fixed price.

According to customer reviews, China Buffet offers a clean and well-stocked environment, catering to individuals and families looking for large quantities of food at an affordable price. While the ambiance is described as "not fancy," the focus is clearly on providing a satisfying and plentiful dining experience. One reviewer mentioned having a "good meal" and enjoying the variety available. The restaurant's commitment to cleanliness is highlighted by its impressive Sanitation Grade of 93.5, which one reviewer noted was "well deserved," indicating a dedication to maintaining hygiene standards.

The buffet at China Buffet is praised for its great variety of food and being "very well stocked," even during lunch hours on a weekday when there were many other people dining. This suggests that the restaurant is diligent in keeping the buffet selections fresh and replenished, ensuring that customers have access to a wide array of choices throughout their meal. The buffet includes several stations, catering to different preferences:

  • Hot Bar: This area features the traditional steam tables with a range of Chinese dishes, including sesame chicken (described as "juicy and just sublime") and grilled chicken (noted as being "a bit dry and hard to get down").
  • Seafood Section: For seafood enthusiasts, China Buffet offers various seafood dishes. One reviewer noted that the seafood tasted distinctly of fish, which they considered a positive attribute. However, their experience with a seafood deep-fried roll was that it was "a little too fishy" for their liking, indicating that the intensity of the seafood flavor might vary among dishes.
  • Soup Station: A unique feature is the "dream" soup station where diners can create their own combinations using a variety of ingredients and good quality broths. This interactive element allows for customization and caters to individual preferences for soup.
  • Salad Bar: While one reviewer noted that the salad station looked appealing, they did not have the opportunity to try it due to the extensive offerings elsewhere.
  • Fruit and Dessert Stations: These sections provide a sweet conclusion to the meal with a selection of fruits and desserts.
  • Sushi Area: China Buffet also includes a sushi section, although it is described as "small" and not having a "huge array of items." However, the presence of sushi adds another dimension to the buffet offerings, catering to those who enjoy Japanese cuisine. One reviewer found the sushi to be "good enough."
  • Hibachi Grill: A significant highlight of China Buffet is its Hibachi grill section. Here, customers can select their own items, and the staff will grill them fresh. This interactive cooking station offers a personalized dining experience and a wide selection of ingredients to choose from.

In terms of service, customers have generally reported positive experiences. Waitresses are attentive in ensuring that dirty dishes are promptly removed and drinks are refilled. One reviewer specifically commended the staff for being "very polite." The level of service is considered satisfactory, especially given the affordable price point of the buffet, with one customer stating, "Could it have been better? Not at this price."

The atmosphere of China Buffet is described as being "totally done in Chinese decor," which likely contributes to the overall dining experience by creating an appropriate cultural ambiance. The cleanliness extends beyond the buffet area to the restrooms, which are reported as "clean and well maintained."

A practical suggestion from one reviewer was the inclusion of disposable gloves for customers to use when serving themselves from the buffet, which could help limit contact with shared utensils. While the restaurant did have a "big jug of hand sanitizer at the checkout counter," providing gloves could be an additional measure to enhance hygiene.

The price point for the lunch buffet was mentioned as being "about $13 per person," which is considered a "great deal" for an all-you-can-eat experience with such a variety of options, including the Hibachi grill and sushi. This affordability makes China Buffet an attractive option for those looking for a filling meal without breaking the bank.

Overall, China Buffet in Salisbury, NC, offers a comprehensive Chinese buffet experience with a wide range of dishes, including a soup station, salad bar, fruit and dessert selections, a sushi area, and a popular Hibachi grill where food is cooked to order. The restaurant is praised for its cleanliness, well-stocked buffet, attentive service, and affordable pricing. While some dishes, like certain seafood options and the grilled chicken, received mixed reviews, the positive feedback on items like the sesame chicken and the overall variety suggests that there is something for everyone to enjoy. The Chinese decor contributes to the ambiance, and the clean facilities add to a positive dining experience. China Buffet appears to be a popular choice for those seeking a substantial and varied meal at a reasonable cost, with the Hibachi grill and sushi being notable features that encourage repeat visits.

This should be higher than 2.5 stars. I had a good meal this evening and enjoyed it. It's a Chinese buffet and like others, they have steam tables of fried and grilled meats, noodles, rice, soups and such. The sushi was good enough. It's clean, it's well stocked, it's not fancy, it serves food to people who want large quantities. I didn't go nuts but I did eat my fill and had a pleasant time. My waitress ensured dirty dishes were removed and my drink was refilled. Could it have been better? Not at this price. One small tip - set out some disposable gloves. I planned ahead and brought my own but this would help the community a little by limiting the contact with shared utensils. They did have a big jug of hand sanitizer at the checkout counter that worked fine.

China Buffet has a 93.5 Sanitation Grade and it is well deserved. We went for the lunch buffet on a Wednesday and the buffet was clean and very well stocked with a great variety of food. There were many other people eating. The seafood dishes really tasted of fish, which is a good thing if you're into that - my seafood deep fried roll was a little too fishy for me. The sesame chicken was juicy and just sublime. The grilled chicken was a bit dry and hard to get down. The soup station was a dream - you make your own combinations and the broths are really good! The salad station looked good, but we never made it that far. We only went as far as the fruit and dessert stations before realizing they had a Hibachi grill and a Sushi area! We totally missed out because by this point we were already full from eating at the hot bar buffet! Service was great! Our server kept our drinks refilled and kept our used plates removed. Very polite staff. The atmosphere is totally done in Chinese decor. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained. We are SO going back, especially for the "you pick your own items for the Hibachi grill" and they grill them for you section and the Sushi section. Granted, the Sushi section is small and doesn't have a huge array of items, but it's there. The Hibachi grill has a big selection of items to choose from and looks good. Overall, about $13 per person for the meal is a great deal considering its all you can eat for lunch. Like I said, we are going back. Worth the money, food was good, service great!

I have to give a 5-star review because for $21.00 you have at your choice more than a multitude of choices. The hibachi grill is always manned by someone who, for me, did a good job. The choice of food has all of the standard choices you see in Chinese buffet restaurants and then some. If you cannot find something here you like you are not hungry. A nice, but strictly business-faced lady ensured customers drinks were always full which was nice. I felt it to be reminiscent of the Catholic Nuns from my youth. All joking aside this appears to be a well run establishment and I would gladly return here.

The food here was good but it's not the best Chinese food that I've had. I don't feel like the $20 was worth it. They had my favorite frog legs on the all you can eat bar but they was not good. I really enjoyed the shrimp and broccoli, the ham, the cocktail shrimp, and the egg rolls.

First time here... surprised by the many selections of food. There is a buffet with meats, vegetables, rice and noodles, salads, desserts and ice cream. There is also a sushi bar and a hibachi bar. The decor is stunning as well.
