Based on recent online reviews, the customer experience at China Bowl Chow Mein appears to be mixed, with some positive aspects regarding convenience but significant concerns raised about portion sizes and value for money. One reviewer who tried the restaurant due to its proximity noted that the online ordering process for pickup was "seamless" and that the food smelled great upon receiving it. This suggests that China Bowl Chow Mein offers a convenient option for those looking to order online and pick up their food.
However, this initial positive impression was followed by disappointment upon opening the food. The reviewer had ordered Sesame Chicken and Walnut Shrimp. While they found the portion size of the chicken to be "decent for the price paid ($8)," they described the portion of shrimp as "a joke." For $12.99, they reported receiving only 10 pieces of shrimp served on a bed of lettuce. This significant disparity in portion size between dishes ordered by the same customer raises concerns about the value proposition of certain menu items.
In terms of taste, the reviewer found it to be "okay but expected more," ultimately stating that they felt Panda Express, a well-known national chain, offered a better experience than this local establishment. This comparison suggests that while the food at China Bowl Chow Mein might be acceptable, it may not stand out in terms of flavor or overall satisfaction compared to other options available to consumers.
Another reviewer who opted for the lunch special expressed significant disappointment with the quantity of key ingredients in their dish. Despite stating that the "food was good" in terms of taste, they gave a 2-star rating due to the very small amount of protein and vegetables. They reported receiving "three piece of broccoli and like 3-4 tiny pieces of meat" along with a few pieces of cabbage, celery, and zucchini. The reviewer felt that the way the meal was packed was "shady," implying a deliberate attempt to minimize the more expensive ingredients. This feedback strongly suggests that the portion sizes, particularly for lunch specials, may be inadequate for the price paid.
Adding to the negative experience, this same reviewer also reported a bizarre and concerning observation: it appeared as though "someone took a bite off my eggroll beforehand." This raises serious questions about food handling and quality control at the restaurant. Such an issue would understandably lead to significant dissatisfaction and a lack of trust in the establishment's hygiene practices.
A separate, very brief review echoed the concern about portion sizes and value, suggesting that China Bowl Chow Mein might only be worthwhile for "quick fix" lunch specials and noting that "portions are small for the high price paid." This consistent feedback across multiple reviews regarding small portions and high prices indicates a potential issue with the restaurant's pricing strategy relative to the quantity of food provided.
Regarding the environment, none of the available reviews offer any description of the restaurant's ambiance, décor, or cleanliness. As a local Chinese restaurant, it likely provides a casual setting for dining and order pickup. However, without specific customer feedback on the environment, it is not possible to provide a detailed description.
In terms of services, China Bowl Chow Mein offers online ordering for pickup, which at least one customer found to be "seamless," indicating a convenient option for those who prefer to order remotely and collect their food. Based on the address, it can be inferred that they also offer takeout service for walk-in customers and likely have a dine-in area, although no specific comments were made about the dine-in experience in the provided reviews. There is no information available regarding delivery services, either through their own staff or third-party platforms.
Based on the limited information, the key features of China Bowl Chow Mein include online ordering for pickup and the availability of lunch specials. However, significant concerns have been raised by recent customers regarding small portion sizes, high prices relative to the quantity of food, and potential issues with food quality and handling (as suggested by the report of a bitten eggroll). The taste of the food was described as "okay" by one reviewer but not exceptional. The lunch specials might offer a quicker option, but even those have been criticized for lacking adequate portions of key ingredients.
No specific promotional information is mentioned in the provided reviews. It is possible that China Bowl Chow Mein offers certain specials or discounts that are not reflected in this feedback. To inquire about any current promotions, such as discounts on specific dishes, lunch deals, or family meal options, local users would need to check local online listings or contact the restaurant directly by phone.
In conclusion, China Bowl Chow Mein in Brooklyn Park offers convenient online ordering for pickup. However, potential customers should be aware of the recurring concerns raised in recent reviews regarding small portion sizes, high prices, and potential issues with food quality and handling. While one reviewer found the online ordering seamless and the initial smell of the food appealing, the actual quantity and quality of the dishes received led to significant disappointment. The lunch specials may offer a quicker option, but even those have been criticized for insufficient portions of key ingredients. For more information on the restaurant's environment, dine-in experience, delivery options, and any current promotions, direct contact with China Bowl Chow Mein is recommended.

2 star even though food was good, reasoning is because I got the lunch special and the dish literally had three piece of broccoli and like 3-4 tiny pieces of meat along with few cabbage piece and celery and zucchini. Very disappointed at how shady they packed this up. Another thing, looks like someone took a bite off my eggroll beforehand? 🥴
Nearby place so I decided why not try. Online order for pickup was seamless. Got the food and smelled great. Finally opened the food to a bit of a disappointment. Ordered Sesame Chicken and Walnut Shrimp. The portion of the chicken was decent for the price paid ($8) however the shrimp was a joke. Literally paid $12.99 for 10 pieces of shrimp laid on a bed of lettuce. Taste? Was okay but expected more. I’d say Panda Express is still better than this local joint. Need a quick fix? Might be worth lunch specials. Portions are small for the high price paid.
Lunch was ruined. Ordered ahead before going on lunch and was looking forward to some delicous Chinese food. After arriving back at work I began by eating the egg roll. Looked extremely dry and was warm at best. Ate it and couldn't tell what it was, tasted nothing like an egg roll. Chicken friend rice had plenty of chicken, which I like - however chicken was extremely dry. My main order, the orange chicken was simply chicken - dried out chicken at best, with the bottom really soggy. A little bit of sauce was on the bottom of the tray, but the chicken itself wasn't glazed as normal. Overall all others in my party had a terrible experience and similar quality issues. Will never return here again.
Don't know why this place gets a bad rap on some reviews. Food is hot and fresh and I always have had great service. The price seems reasonable. Unfortunately one of my favorite dishes are gone. I loved the pineapple chicken fried rice.
First time trying China Bowl, not sure I'll try it again. Egg drop soup was very bland. It really had no flavor even though there were carrots and peas in it? There was barely any chicken in my chicken chow mein, and while I ordered an extra side of white rice (chow mein says it comes with white rice and crunchy noodles) I did not receive it. Chow mein was flavorful, but I was just expecting more chicken in my chicken chow mein... Might give it a second chance, but if the result is the same, I'm going elsewhere.
