About China 88

China 88 is a Chinese restaurant located at 605-19 Newmarket Dr N in Newport News, Virginia, serving the local community with a focus on takeout options. They can be contacted at (757) 826-8888 or via their mobile number +1 757-826-8888 for placing orders and inquiries. Based on recent customer feedback available online, experiences at China 88 appear to be quite varied, with some customers expressing high satisfaction while others have reported significant issues with the food quality.

One customer shared an overwhelmingly positive experience, stating that they had the "most incredible Chinese food of my life" at China 88. This reviewer, who seemingly ordered takeout, expressed surprise at the quality, suggesting that their expectations for takeout might have been lower initially. They commented on the food being filling yet light, hot, and fresh, and praised the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and savory flavors, indicating a high level of culinary satisfaction. This positive review suggests that China 88 is capable of producing exceptional dishes that leave a lasting impression on customers. The reviewer also noted that while the interior décor might need updating, the restaurant's focus is clearly on the quality of the food, implying that the taste and freshness outweigh any aesthetic concerns. This positive feedback could be a significant draw for local users prioritizing food quality over ambiance, especially for takeout orders.

In stark contrast, another customer reported a very negative experience with their order, which included shrimp cashew and Singapore mai fun. This reviewer described the shrimp as "so bad" and the baby corn as sour, indicating that these ingredients were likely old and unsuitable for consumption. They also found the mai fun to be very dry and noted that the rice had an old smell. Based on these significant issues with multiple dishes, this customer stated that they would not recommend China 88 to anyone. This feedback raises serious concerns about the freshness and quality control of the food at the restaurant and serves as a strong cautionary note for potential customers.

Considering these two recent and contrasting reviews, it is evident that the experiences at China 88 can be quite different. One customer raved about the exceptional quality and flavor of their takeout, while another reported multiple dishes being inedible due to staleness and poor quality ingredients. This disparity suggests potential inconsistencies in food preparation or quality control at the restaurant. For local users in Newport News, VA, these conflicting opinions make it challenging to form a definitive impression of China 88.

For those considering ordering from China 88, it might be prudent to weigh these recent experiences. The positive review highlights the potential for truly enjoyable and high-quality Chinese takeout, with a focus on flavor and freshness. However, the negative review points to significant risks regarding food quality and freshness, which could lead to a very unsatisfactory experience. Without further information or a larger consensus from other reviews, it is difficult to ascertain which of these experiences is more representative of the typical food quality at China 88.

As a Chinese restaurant offering takeout in Newport News, China 88's primary service seems to be focused on providing food for customers to enjoy off-premises. The mention of the interior needing redecoration by the positive reviewer suggests that the dine-in experience, if available, might not be the primary focus. The emphasis appears to be on the food prepared for takeout. However, the starkly contrasting reviews regarding the quality of this takeout food are crucial for local users to consider.

In conclusion, China 88 in Newport News, VA, presents a mixed picture based on recent customer feedback. While one reviewer experienced what they considered to be exceptional Chinese takeout, another reported significant issues with the freshness and quality of multiple dishes. Local users considering China 88 should be aware of these divergent opinions and might want to proceed with caution or seek more recent reviews to get a broader understanding of the current food quality and consistency at the restaurant. The phone number (757) 826-8888 and mobile number +1 757-826-8888 are available for placing orders or making inquiries, but potential customers should make an informed decision based on the available feedback.

Had the most incredible chinese food of my life here! I wasn't expecting much for takeout but boy was I surprised. Although the interior could use some redecorating, it's evident that they focus on the quality of their food. It was filling but light on the stomach. Everything was hot and fresh. And it was the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and savory - I couldn’t stop eating and I can't wait to eat here again! Thank you ☆

Ordered shrimp cashew and Singapore mai fun. Shrimp was so bad, baby corn was sour. These was already too old for eating. Mai fun also very dry. Rice was smelling old too. I will not recommend to anyone.

Terrible food. The fried rice was greasy and bland. It's dirty and they make you feel like you can't eat there.

Food is good esp the chicken always fresh. The rice on the other hand is always somewhat overcooked. The chicken wings are big and they are generous with the extra onions and pork for the fried rice. Its a good spot if you love Chinese like me keep in mind it is too expensive 11 plus dollars for 1 order or just an order of wings over $8 with no drink is beyond me. The price took it down a 🌟. Still food is good
