About China 8

Situated at 189 Adam Shepherd Pkwy #16, Shepherdsville, KY 40165, USA, China 8 is a Chinese restaurant that caters primarily to those seeking convenient and classic American-Chinese takeout. With contact numbers (502) 543-3317 for phone calls and +1 502-543-3317 for mobile, China 8 serves as a go-to spot for locals in Shepherdsville looking for a quick and satisfying meal.

Operating within the "Chinese Restaurant" category, China 8 focuses on providing traditional American-Chinese fare, typically adapted for the local palate. Their menu would likely feature a wide array of popular dishes, including various chicken, beef, pork, and seafood options, often served with rice or noodles. Common offerings would include classics like General Tso's Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Lo Mein, Fried Rice, and Egg Rolls. The nature of the reviews suggests that China 8 excels in delivering a solid version of these familiar dishes, making it a reliable choice for everyday Chinese food cravings. The emphasis on takeout indicates a streamlined operation focused on efficiency and quick preparation of orders.

Based on the customer reviews, China 8 appears to function primarily as a takeout-oriented establishment. While specific details about the dining environment are not provided, the consistent praise for "fast and friendly service" suggests an efficient counter service model. It's common for such Chinese takeout restaurants to have a small, functional waiting area for order pickups, rather than an elaborate dining room. The focus is on getting freshly prepared food into the hands of customers quickly. This type of environment is ideal for individuals and families looking for a convenient meal to enjoy at home or on the go, rather than a formal sit-down dining experience. The quick service further implies a well-organized kitchen and front-of-house operation.

The service at China 8 is consistently highlighted as a strong point. Customers commend the "fast and friendly" service. This efficiency is crucial for a takeout-focused establishment, ensuring that orders are taken and prepared promptly. The positive interactions with staff contribute to a pleasant overall experience, making customers feel welcomed and valued. Even when there are mixed opinions on specific dishes, the speed and amiability of the service remain a recurring positive, indicating a dedicated team focused on customer satisfaction and efficient order fulfillment. This type of service is particularly appreciated by individuals with limited time, looking for a swift and polite transaction.

Regarding its culinary features, China 8 offers a range of American-Chinese classics with varying degrees of success, according to customer feedback. One patron had a "great experience" with the General Tso’s Chicken and fried rice. They specifically noted the chicken was "crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a nice balance of sweet and spicy flavors in the sauce. It wasn’t overly sweet like you sometimes get with General Tso's." This indicates a careful preparation of a popular dish, avoiding the common pitfall of excessive sweetness. The "flavorful" fried rice, with its "nice mix of veggies, egg, and just the right amount of seasoning," was also praised for being "not too oily, and with a good texture." These descriptions point to a mastery of foundational dishes, offering well-executed comfort food. The "generous portion" further adds to the value proposition.

However, another review offers a mixed perspective on other dishes. While the "broccoli chicken was good," the General Tso's Chicken "tasted like me bbq on chicken nuggets - terrible." This suggests inconsistency in preparation or perhaps a difference in recipe expectations for this specific dish. Furthermore, the "shrimp egg foo young was good but the gravy was watery mustard color and consistency, not what I was expecting or used to." This highlights that while some dishes are well-received, others might not meet every customer's traditional expectations, especially regarding specific components like sauces or gravies. This varied feedback suggests that while China 8 excels in certain areas, there might be room for improvement or greater consistency across its entire menu, particularly for those with specific culinary preferences for American-Chinese staples.

In terms of promotional information, the reviews highlight that "The prices were reasonable," which serves as a significant draw for customers. This affordability, combined with the convenience of "fast and friendly" service and "generous portion" sizes, implicitly promotes China 8 as a great value option for "a quick and tasty meal in Shepherdsville!" While no explicit discount offers or loyalty programs are mentioned, the overall positive sentiment around its affordability and efficiency acts as a strong promotional tool, attracting customers who prioritize good value and speed. For a takeout-focused restaurant, consistently providing reasonable prices alongside quick service and satisfying portions is often the most effective form of promotion, encouraging repeat business and positive word-of-mouth recommendations within the local community.

In summary, China 8 at 189 Adam Shepherd Pkwy #16, Shepherdsville, KY 40165, USA, reachable at (502) 543-3317 or +1 502-543-3317, is a Chinese restaurant primarily specializing in American-Chinese takeout. It is praised for its fast and friendly service, reasonable prices, and generous portions. Its General Tso's Chicken and fried rice have received positive remarks for their balance of flavors and textures. While some other dishes like the General Tso's or Egg Foo Young may vary in consistency from traditional expectations, China 8 remains a solid choice for a quick, convenient, and generally satisfying Chinese meal in Shepherdsville, catering to those who appreciate speed and value in their dining experience.

I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken with a side of fried rice, and it was a great experience! The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a nice balance of sweet and spicy flavors in the sauce. It wasn’t overly sweet like you sometimes get with General Tso's. The portion was generous, and the sauce was enough to coat all the chicken without being too heavy. The fried rice was flavorful, with a nice mix of veggies, egg, and just the right amount of seasoning. It complemented the chicken well, not too oily, and with a good texture. Overall, China 8 serves up a solid version of classic American-Chinese takeout. The prices were reasonable, and the service was fast and friendly. Great spot for a quick and tasty meal in Shepherdsville!

A slight miscommunication due to a language barrier caused my order to be wrong. When I went back to get what I had actually ordered, it took a few tries of me explaining what I had ordered. The food was hot, delicious, and the crab Rangoon is definitely the best! The staff is so friendly. The restaurant is clean, but it's not a place I'd bring the family for dinner. The atmosphere is more for "take out".

I’ve ordered here many times before and the food was always great BUT, my last purchase was foul. I was eating it and discovered what looked like a roach leg!!! I’ve never been so disgusted! Now all I can think of is how many times all the other times I’ve eaten here could have possibly had bugs in it and if it’s cooked in my food then there much be a problem in the kitchen. This was in my shrimp fried rice.

Update: Ordered takeout last night for dinner. Some of the items that I ordered were way too chewy and the orange chicken was strangly stringy. I've not changed the star rating since this was only one time so far. The next visit will determine the loss of a star. Alrighty, I've eaten at several Chinese restaurants and this is a decent one. Nice menu variety, easy to order and food doesn't take long. I believe they only offer takeout at the moment. It's a small place so there isn't much room to dine in anyways. All the tables and chairs are scattered around so it seems a little messy. Not the best Chinese food I've had but still pretty good. Excellent for a quick lunch or dinner takeout.
