About China 1

While China 1 is located at 302 N Main St, Highlands, TX 77562, USA, let's provide an objective overview for local users in Singapore interested in Chinese takeout options. Based on recent customer reviews, China 1 presents a mixed experience with some notable strengths and weaknesses.

One initial experience was disappointing, with a customer finding the chicken with broccoli "way less than stellar" due to receiving fried rice instead of the requested steamed rice and the dish not being spicy despite a double request. However, they did find the egg drop soup to be delicious, indicating some dishes are well-received.

Upon a second visit, this same customer re-evaluated their opinion and increased their rating. They ordered General Tso Chicken, Shrimp Lo Mein, Orange Chicken, Crab Rangoon, and Pan Fried Dumplings, all with fried rice. While they noted that the primary ingredients in each dish seemed "a little less than average," suggesting the chicken might have been prepackaged and the shrimp in the Lo Mein were scarce, and the Crab Rangoon crust tasted stale, there was a significant positive aspect: the sauces for each dish were described as "extremely flavorful" and provided in ample amounts, enhancing the overall taste. The portions were also noted to be slightly larger on the second visit, and all the food was hot.

Ultimately, the reviewer concluded that while not a five-star experience, China 1 is a "good alternative" for a "quick, decent Chinese take out night" when convenience is a priority and driving elsewhere isn't feasible. They gave it four stars based on cost versus value, highlighting the flavorful sauces as a key factor that makes even mediocre ingredients taste good. For local users in Singapore seeking a quick and affordable Chinese takeout option, China 1's emphasis on flavorful sauces and decent value, despite potential inconsistencies in ingredient quality, might be something to consider if you prioritize taste and convenience.

I wanted so much to like this place so I could have somewhere close to work that had good food fast. The egg drop soup was delicious, however the chicken with broccoli was way less than stellar mostly because I asked twice for the dish to be made spicy and with steamed rice. He even repeated my order back to me. Why did I get terrible tasting, not fried rice? And it was not spicy in the least. Oh well, it wasn't meant to be.

Upon giving this location another chance due to being short on time. I have reevaluated my review and increased the rating by two stars. We ordered three dinners. A General Tso Chicken, Shrimp Lo Mein, Orange Chicken, Grab Rangoon, and Pan Fried Dumplings. All with fried rice. The primary ingredients to each dish seemed a little less than average. Almost as if the chicken was prepackaged not made fresh. There was very few shrimp in the Lo Mein. While the crust for the Crab Rangoon tasted stale. However, and this is a big however. The sauces for each of the dishes was extremely flavorful. Provided in ample amounts. Making even the most mediocre of vegetable or meat taste amazing. The portions were slightly larger than on our previous visit. With all the food being hot. While I can't give them five stars. I can honestly give them four due to cost vs value. For a quick, decent Chinese take out night. When you don't feel like or have the time to drive elsewhere. China 1 is definitely a good alternative.

Fantastic! They delivered to my truck parked over here at the TA. Ordered orange chicken, pork fried rice, egg rolls and won ton soup. Everything came out delicious! Really fresh and on point! We were very satisfied with our dinner and the quick delivery time, the driver was friendly and came with a big smile! Would most definitely order from them again when we come back this way.

Hear me for some real TRUTH. This is more than likely the best place in Highlands to eat fried wings. The owner seasons them himself (with maybe a little bit of extra salt) but , all the same their probably the best you'll find. His recipe is filled with flavor! Now, B4 you current customers decide that you don't want to adhere to the price increases that China 1 has had to introduce since 7/2022, please consider how much the owner must have to figure into his menu budget these days. Everything has escalated in price this year. It's really understandable that China 1 is also having to readjust some things. I've decided to readjust to accommodate my budget in many unimaginable areas. To continue to indulge in China 1 and those fantastic wings, I have just put my family on a schedule for when we will eat out there, preferably on pay dates. This way, we stay on budget whiles continuing to enjoy the great wings, egg rolls, and house fried rice(that we LOVE)from this neighborhood eatery that has done nothing but delicious things in the mouth!! Consider this, to avoid depriving your taste buds of the meals here and to continue having our Highlands small business with great tastes at our door step. It's easy to see how a company can get pinned against the wall in trying to keep their doors open. So, we are going to modify and keep on catching up! Food was not good at all and a bit pricey for what we got. Paid $18 just for orange chicken and lo mein combination. I personally don’t think it was worth that price and would be better off going to Panda Express. Chicken tasted old and soggy. Lo mein had a weird smell and just had no taste.
