About Chin's Restaurant

Chin's Restaurant is a charming Chinese eatery nestled in Livonia, MI, at 28205 Plymouth Rd. Known for its rich mid-century tiki ambiance and exotic theming, Chin's offers a unique dining experience that transports guests to a bygone era of Polynesian-inspired glamour. The restaurant has been a local favorite for years, thanks to its mouthwatering menu, friendly service, and the ability to create an immersive atmosphere that captivates diners.

Chin's Restaurant is open from Tuesday to Sunday, serving dinner from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM. On Sundays, they close earlier at 7:30 PM. The restaurant is closed on Mondays, making it a perfect spot for weekend gatherings or mid-week dinners with friends and family.

One of the standout features of Chin's Restaurant is its menu, which offers an array of classic Chinese dishes with a unique twist. Whether you're craving crispy Almond Chicken or flavorful Crab Ragoon, Chin's has something to satisfy every taste buds. The restaurant also offers delicious appetizers like eggrolls, which have been praised for their crunchiness and flavor. In addition, the combination of brown gravy on the Almond Chicken adds a rich, savory touch that enhances the overall dining experience.

For those who appreciate themed restaurants, Chin's Restaurant is a hidden gem. The mid-century tiki decor, complete with tropical motifs and vibrant colors, creates an unforgettable atmosphere. The restaurant also plays exotica music, which complements the ambiance and makes diners feel like they're on a tropical adventure. This unique combination of food, drinks, and decor makes Chin's Restaurant a must-visit for anyone looking for an authentic tiki dining experience.

Chin's Restaurant used to be known for its tiki drinks, such as mai tais, zombies, and their signature scorpion bowl. While these drinks are no longer available for carryout due to staffing constraints, they remain a highlight of the dine-in experience. The restaurant's cocktail offerings add an extra layer of charm to the evening, making it a perfect spot for adults looking to enjoy a drink with their meal.

Customer feedback highlights both the strengths and areas for improvement at Chin's Restaurant. Many diners praise the affordability and deliciousness of the food, as well as the immersive atmosphere that makes the dining experience memorable. One customer raved about the eggrolls being "excellent" and the Almond Chicken being "juicy and crispy," while another appreciated the "amazing theming inside" and the music that sets the perfect mood.

However, not all reviews have been positive. Some diners have expressed disappointment with certain dishes, such as the shrimp and broccoli dinner combo, which was described as "flavorless." While these experiences are in the minority, they serve as a reminder that every restaurant has room for improvement.

Despite its challenges, Chin's Restaurant remains a beloved spot for those who appreciate unique dining experiences. The combination of authentic Chinese cuisine, mid-century tiki theming, and friendly service makes it a standout destination in Livonia. A mid century tiki relic from the past. I tried to order a classic "exotic meal" from back in the day, so I ordered Almond chicken and crab ragoon, eggroll was excellent and the chicken was juicy and crispy. The chicken came with a brown gravy and it really tied the whole dish together. Crab Ragoon was very crispy, made a little well done but still tasty, the plum sauce that came with it was incredible. They used to sell tiki drinks for dine in like mai tais, zombies, painkillers, and their own signature scorpion bowl. I never went inside before yesterday so I never got to try their cocktails, according to a friend, the zombie was pretty good. They did offer tiki drinks to go when Covid first started. But now they no longer offer to go cocktails sadly, or I would have ordered that dang zombie! Due to staffing, the dining room probably won't be open for a couple years. I would definitely go back here, because the food is affordable and delicious and just to stare at all the amazing theming inside and listen to that awesome exotica that they pump through the restaurant, even if it is just for carryout.

Extremely underwhelming food. I ordered simple shrimp and broccoli dinner combo with egg rolls. The egg rolls were so oily and the shrimp and rice were flavorless. A great way to ruin a craving.

I love mid century restaurants, so I made a pilgrimage here from Florida.. Sadly they were closed for dine-in. I glimpsed the interior which was so cool- I hope to be back at a time when it is open again to experience its full glory for tiki cocktails!

Big portions and reasonable prices. Great ambiance, restaurant is Polynesian tiki themed, they are take out only right now. My favorites are the egg rolls, almond chicken, and general Tso.

After finishing my 1st chemo treatment the day before, my wife surprised me with one of my favorites of 15 years in Chins. She got me the almond chicken w/chicken fried rice and extra egg roll. What i got was dried up chicken, they forgot the gravy and sent almost burnt egg rolls. Needless to say, the whole order was pitched and we had to order elsewhere. Their quality has diminished severely and thats the last time I frequent their business.
