About Chez Xue

Chez Xue, situated at 1000 Metro Center Blvd A in Foster City, California, presents itself as a Chinese restaurant catering to both local residents and those passing through the Bay Area. With contact numbers (650) 267-8888 and +1 650-267-8888, Chez Xue offers a point of contact for inquiries and potential reservations. Customer reviews provide insights into the restaurant's environment, service, and the nature of its cuisine.

The environment and setting of Chez Xue have been positively noted by at least one reviewer, who described it as "great." This suggests that the restaurant offers a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere for dining. While specific details about the decor, ambiance, or seating arrangements are not extensively described, the positive mention indicates a potentially inviting space for customers to enjoy their meals.

One of the standout features of Chez Xue, according to customer feedback, is its service. Multiple reviewers have highlighted the efficiency and attentiveness of the staff. One customer specifically mentioned that the 18% gratuity, which is automatically included in the bill, is "so worth it" due to the fast and efficient service from the moment of being seated to the arrival of the food. The server is also described as "very attentive to your needs," indicating a focus on customer satisfaction and a proactive approach to service.

In terms of cuisine, Chez Xue offers a range of Chinese dishes. One reviewer noted that when the food was initially served, it was "quick, warm and tasty!" This suggests that the restaurant is capable of delivering freshly prepared and flavorful meals promptly. Another customer described the food as "comfort food without the hassle of cooking and cleaning after," indicating that Chez Xue serves familiar and satisfying dishes that appeal to those seeking a convenient and enjoyable meal.

However, one reviewer raised a concern about the amount of cooking oil used in some dishes. While they found the food tasty initially, leftovers consumed the next day revealed a significant amount of oil, leading to disappointment. This customer, who is pregnant, had to discard the eggplant dish due to this issue, as excessive oil consumption can be a concern during pregnancy. They also drew a comparison to "Chinese-American food, almost like Panda Express," suggesting that the culinary style might lean towards a more Americanized interpretation of Chinese cuisine, potentially involving more oil than traditional dishes.

The pricing noted by one customer for three dishes plus the 18% tip was approximately $75. This provides some indication of the cost of dining at Chez Xue, suggesting a mid-range price point for a meal consisting of multiple dishes.

The automatic inclusion of an 18% gratuity on the bill is a notable service aspect of Chez Xue. While one customer found this well-justified by the efficient and attentive service, it is something that diners should be aware of when planning their visit and budgeting for their meal. This practice can ensure that the staff is adequately compensated for their service.

The overall sentiment from the reviews suggests that Chez Xue offers a convenient dining option with efficient and attentive service in a pleasant environment. The food is generally well-received, with some dishes being described as tasty and comforting. However, there is a potential concern regarding the oil content in certain dishes, which might be a consideration for health-conscious diners or those preferring a more traditional style of Chinese cooking. The comparison to Chinese-American fast-food chains suggests a certain style of cuisine that may prioritize familiar flavors and convenience.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in any special offers, discounts, or seasonal menus at Chez Xue are encouraged to contact the restaurant directly via phone or visit their location in Foster City. It is also possible that they may have ongoing promotions that are not mentioned in these initial customer experiences.

In conclusion, Chez Xue in Foster City offers a convenient and comfortable Chinese dining experience characterized by efficient and attentive service. The restaurant serves dishes that are generally well-received and described as tasty and comforting, making it a potential option for those seeking a hassle-free meal. However, potential diners should be aware of the automatic 18% gratuity and the possibility of higher oil content in some dishes, which might align the cuisine more with a Chinese-American style. Local users looking for a reliable Chinese restaurant with a focus on service and familiar flavors in Foster City may find Chez Xue a suitable option.

When the food first came out, it was quick, warm and tasty! However, the next day I ate the leftover for dinner I am quite shock from the amounts of cooking oil. I know that good Chinese food doesn’t need a lot of cooking oil for it to taste good, so I am disappointed by that. I had to throw away the rest of eggplant dish because I am pregnant and isn’t good for me. Although the service and setting/environment was great. I might try again but I will request to limit on the oil. To me it’s more of a Chinese-American food, almost like Panda Express. The 3 dishes plus 18% tips, appx $75.

Always stop by here when driving to the bay. It’s like having comfort food without the hassle of cooking and cleaning after. They charge 18% gratuity on your bill, which I say is so worth it. From the time you take your sit, to the time your food comes to your table after ordering, fast and efficient! Server is also very attentive to your needs. Oh, the food! IMHO they definitely one of the best in Foster City!

One of our new favorite Chinese restaurants on the peninsula!! Beef with cilantro was perfectly flavored with the right amount of spice, thick and tasty green onion pancakes with ground pork sauce, and spicy green beans were all great dishes. Generous portions, friendly and efficient service, and a nice clean interior. Highly recommend it!

Chez Xue has decent Chinese food with great service. The interior is also very open and clean. The food is more pricy than the typical Chinese place and there’s a mandatory 18% service charge. However they do emphasize that they don’t take additional tip. We got the cilantro beef, green onion pancakes, eggplant string beans, and tomato beef noodle. Unfortunately the green onion pancake was not super fluffy and a bit difficult to chew. All the other dishes were quite tasty. I recommend their noodles since it’s hand cut and cooked very well, the soup flavor and beef are both well done.

Update: There is an automatic tip of 18% included on in door dining, regardless of service. Fragrant and delicious. Food is came out quickly and was cooked very well. It’s almost as if what you’ll find at fancy Chinese restaurants. You can tell by how the fried rice was done. I’m surprised it’s not too busy! Staff is very attentive and nice. There are also many options for different flavors and dishes that it is worth going back to. One slight drawback for me is that price seemed slightly more than I would have expected. But since they provide decent servings, it’s fine.
