About Cheung’s Garden Restaurant

Welcome to Cheung’s Garden Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant located at 220 S Washington St in Lake City, Minnesota (55041). As a Chinese restaurant serving the Lake City area, Cheung’s Garden Restaurant can be contacted at (651) 345-3818 or via mobile at +1 651-345-3818. Based on recent online feedback, customer experiences appear to be significantly negative, particularly concerning customer service and food quality.

As a platform category Chinese Restaurant, Cheung’s Garden Restaurant aims to provide Chinese culinary options to the local community. However, recent customer reviews paint a concerning picture regarding the restaurant's service, menu accuracy, and the quality of some of its dishes. Potential customers are strongly advised to consider this feedback when making their dining decisions.

One highly critical review detailed several negative experiences. The customer reported being charged twice for their order and then encountering an argument with the staff who allegedly refused to provide a refund. This indicates a serious issue with billing practices and customer service, with the reviewer describing the service as "horrible" and the staff as "rude." Further issues were noted with the menu and food quality. Despite chicken chow mein being listed on the menu, the customer was told that chow mein noodles were unavailable. The pork fried rice was described as "pathetic," consisting mainly of browned rice with very small pieces of pork and lacking common ingredients such as carrots, peas, onions, or egg. Additionally, the cream cheese and meat wontons reportedly did not come with sweet and sour sauce, a standard accompaniment for this type of appetizer. Based on these multiple negative aspects, the reviewer explicitly stated, "Do not recommend!!"

Another customer echoed the disappointment with the food quality. They reported that the sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and lo mein were all a "miss" for them, indicating a general dissatisfaction with these common Chinese-American dishes. Even the fortune cookie, typically a small and often overlooked part of the meal, was described as "stale," further contributing to a negative overall impression. This review concluded by stating that the experience was "very disappointing."

Based on the overwhelmingly negative feedback in the provided reviews, the environment at Cheung’s Garden Restaurant is not described in a positive light. While cleanliness and ambiance are not specifically mentioned, the reported issues with customer service and food quality likely overshadow any positive aspects of the physical setting. The description of rude and argumentative staff suggests a potentially unpleasant atmosphere for customers.

In terms of services, Cheung’s Garden Restaurant offers takeout and presumably dine-in options, given its nature as a restaurant. However, the severe issues reported with customer service, including incorrect billing and refusal to rectify errors, are significant concerns. The discrepancy between the menu listing and the availability of items (chow mein noodles) also indicates potential problems with menu accuracy and communication. The lack of expected sauces with certain dishes further detracts from the service experience.

Features of Cheung’s Garden Restaurant that can be gleaned from the negative reviews include a menu that lists items that may not be available (chow mein noodles), pork fried rice that lacks standard ingredients, and cream cheese and meat wontons that are served without the expected sweet and sour sauce. The long-standing presence of the restaurant at its location might have previously indicated reliability, but the recent feedback suggests a significant decline in quality and service.

The provided information does not include any details about current promotional offers at Cheung’s Garden Restaurant. Given the serious negative feedback regarding food quality and customer service, potential customers might be hesitant to inquire about or take advantage of any promotions without more positive assurances about the overall dining experience.

In conclusion, recent customer reviews for Cheung’s Garden Restaurant in Lake City, MN, are overwhelmingly negative, highlighting significant concerns about customer service, billing practices, menu accuracy, and food quality. Reports of being overcharged and then argued with, the unavailability of listed menu items, and poorly prepared dishes such as the pork fried rice and the sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and lo mein being a "miss," paint a concerning picture. Even the fortune cookie was stale for one reviewer. Potential local users are strongly advised to consider this feedback carefully before choosing to dine at or order from Cheung’s Garden Restaurant. The lack of positive feedback and the severity of the issues reported suggest that significant improvements may be needed in both food preparation and customer service to regain customer trust and satisfaction.

Charged us twice. Argued with us and wouldn't refund. Horrible customer service and they were rude. Asked for chow mein noodles and was told they don't have them, even though they have chicken chow mein on the menu. The pork fried rice was pathetic. It was basically browned rice with tiny chunks of pork. No carrots, peas, onions or egg. The cream cheese and meat wontons didnt even come with sweet and sour sauce. Do not recommend!!

Sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and lo mein - all a miss for us. Even the fortune cookie was stale. Very disappointing.

My last order here really made me miss Resh Wok, the Chinese restaurant which recently closed down. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken and my wife ordered chicken with black bean sauce. We were both very disappointed in both flavor of our meals (very lacking) and the pathetic amount of chicken, the skimpy amount of rice, and for the Kung Pao, the very few peanuts. The chicken with black bean sauce was about 50% large chunks of green pepper and the sauce was very watery. The kung pao was also watery with very few chicken pieces and not very many peanuts. While the main dish was served in normal size Chinese to-go containers, the rice was packed in very small to-go containers and only provided about half of what we wanted for our meals.

I have gone to Cheung's Garden many times since they opened in Lake City about 25 years ago. Their egg rolls are the better than anyone else's bar none. Their food is freshly made and excellent every time and the service is always courteous. Whoever posted the bad review under the name "A Google User" had to have made that stuff up. What a shame because the Cheung family is extremely nice and very respectful.

Very friendly staff. Food is made to order. Typical Chinese American menu. Tip: General Chicken and Sweet & Sour Chicken is fried very well. Soup: Hot and Sour is great.
