About Cheng's China House

Cheng's China House is a Chinese restaurant located at 425 Water St # 12, Chardon, OH 44024, serving the local community. They can be contacted at (440) 285-3814 or via mobile phone at +1 440-285-3814 for inquiries and orders. Based on recent customer reviews, there are significant and concerning issues regarding the food quality, pricing, portion sizes, restaurant atmosphere, and service at this establishment, which potential local users should be aware of.

One customer who ordered takeout reported a highly unsatisfactory meal. They stated that the "chicken was slimy and had no flavor," indicating a significant problem with the main protein of their dish. Consequently, they "ended up eating just a bit of the fried rice and the egg roll and threw the rest away," suggesting that the issues were not isolated to just one component of the meal. The reviewer also described the vegetables as looking like "long strips of kale & long chunks of onion," which might indicate a lack of care in preparation or the use of less desirable ingredients. Based on this experience, the customer concluded, "I will never order food from there again," a strong indictment of their meal.

Another reviewer expressed even stronger negative sentiments, beginning their feedback with a stark warning: "-- DO NOT GO HERE -- Do yourself a favor, go to a different place." This emphatic statement underscores a severely negative experience. The reviewer cited multiple reasons for their extreme dissatisfaction. Firstly, they found the food to be "incredibly overpriced for the small portion you get," indicating a poor value proposition. Secondly, they believed the food was "definitely processed food that was not cooked right," raising concerns about the quality of ingredients and the culinary skills employed.

Most alarmingly, this reviewer reported a serious health issue, stating that "all 3 members of my family got food poisoning from their food." This is an extremely serious accusation that suggests significant problems with food safety and handling practices at Cheng's China House. Such an incident can have severe consequences for the health and well-being of customers.

Beyond the food itself, this reviewer also criticized the restaurant's environment, describing "The whole atmosphere of the restaurant" as "gross." While the specifics of what made the atmosphere unpleasant were not detailed, this adds another layer of negative feedback regarding the overall experience of visiting Cheng's China House.

The service also came under scrutiny in this review. The customer described an interaction with a "little kid working the front" who they felt was unprofessional. According to the reviewer, this person "didn't ask anything, just asked for my name for the food and then just stuck his hand out, not asking if I want sauces, or anything of that nature." This lack of attentiveness to basic customer service needs, such as offering condiments or inquiring about preferences, further contributed to the negative impression.

The reviewer concluded by reiterating their strong disapproval, stating, "Overall one of the worst expireances for getting food. I can't emphasize enough how bad the food is, do not go here!" This forceful language underscores the depth of their negative experience and serves as a strong warning to potential customers.

Considering these two recent reviews, local users should be extremely cautious about Cheng's China House. The feedback points to significant issues across multiple aspects of the restaurant's operation. The food quality has been described as poor, with concerns about slimy and flavorless chicken, potentially processed ingredients, and even allegations of food poisoning. The value for money appears to be low, with reports of overpriced and small portions.

Furthermore, the restaurant's atmosphere has been labeled as "gross," and the service has been described as unprofessional, with a lack of basic customer care. These negative comments extend beyond just the taste of the food to encompass the overall dining or takeout experience.

Given the severity of the accusations, particularly the report of food poisoning affecting multiple family members, potential customers should seriously consider alternative dining options. Food safety is paramount, and such a claim warrants extreme caution. The other issues raised, including poor food quality, high prices for small portions, an unpleasant environment, and subpar service, further reinforce the negative impression of Cheng's China House based on these recent reviews.

In conclusion, recent customer feedback for Cheng's China House at 425 Water St # 12, Chardon, OH, is overwhelmingly negative. Reviews highlight concerns about slimy and flavorless food, overpriced and small portions, the serving of potentially processed and poorly cooked items, a "gross" restaurant atmosphere, unprofessional service, and, most alarmingly, an instance of reported food poisoning affecting an entire family. Local users are strongly advised to consider these serious issues when making dining decisions and may want to explore other Chinese restaurants in the Chardon area that have received more positive and reassuring feedback.

I ordered take-out so can’t comment on the atmosphere. But I was very disappointed in my meal. The chicken was slimy and had no flavor. I ended up eating just a bit of the fried rice and the egg roll and threw the rest away. The vegetables looked like long strips of kale & long chunks of onion. I will never order food from there again.

China house always comes through with fresh, crispy takeout. I haven't had anything I don't like from here. The bourbon chicken is especially good. Egg rolls are great, soup is great, price is affordable and I can't help but love the rude young man who works the counter.

First and LAST time coming here. This is the absolute worst chinese place I have ever eaten. All of the meat was rubber and COMPLETELY GRAY, it tasted microwaved and you could tell it was processed. The bourbon chicken was absolutely discussing, like nothing I have ever had before. All the food was cold when we got it. The rice was very pigmented yellow, disgusting, and cold. The wonton soup was also dark yellow and very grainy. All of it tasted disgusting, hoping we don’t get sick.

We are repeat customers and have noticed the quality of food has plummeted yet the prices have raised. There is no filling in the crab Rangoon, and they even remade them..with no filling. I can get over the 10 year Olds working the register but crab Rangoons? C'mon man.
