About Cheng Du
Cheng Du, located at Paoli Shopping Center, 82 E Lancaster Ave, Paoli, PA 19301, USA, offers Chinese cuisine. You can contact them at (610) 889-4870 or +1 610-889-4870 for orders and inquiries.
Customer reviews indicate that Cheng Du is a small establishment primarily known for its affordable and flavorful food. The restaurant is considered cost-effective, offering good value for the price.
However, a recurring concern is the quality of customer service, which is described as subpar. This may explain why many customers prefer takeout over dining in. The ambiance is also noted as needing improvement.
For those new to Chinese cuisine, the Dong Dong noodles are not recommended due to their unfamiliar flavors. The cumin lamb, on the other hand, is praised for its taste. The fried rice is consistently described as fantastic, and the vegetable rolls are considered average.
A highly recommended vegetarian option is the vegetable lo mein.
In summary, Cheng Du offers affordable Chinese food with good flavors, making it a suitable option for those prioritizing price and taste. However, potential customers should be aware of the reported service concerns and consider takeout as a viable option. Recommended dishes include the cumin lamb and vegetable lo mein.

Customer Reviews
It is a small place where food is good and may be the only factor why we visit here, , however the customer service is not up to the mark, may be that is the reason why many prefers take away. If you ask me about the cost , it is cost effective. If you can manage the service, this place is good as you get good food with great price.
As someone new to Chinese cuisine, I would recommend avoiding the Dong Dong noodles if you're unfamiliar with the flavors. However, the cumin lamb was quite good. The ambiance could use some improvement, but overall, it was an interesting experience. As useal fried rice is fentastic, veg roles are quite regular. Veg recommend: Lo mein veg
We went to celebrate my mom’s 55th birthday party based on the good reviews. We had over 20 people and it was a huge disappointment. The servers and the owner were rude and cheap. They charge for take out containers $1 a piece. ( The lady said it’s too much and gave a nasty attitude). If you are going to do good business don’t be cheap. We didn’t feel welcome at all. The lady also said out loud you need to leave tip… When we already set a side money. After being seated less than 20 mins we were reminded that we have to eat fast because there was another party coming in soon. Overall would NOT recommend and we would not come back for sure. One and only time. For spending over $500 including tip and being treated like that? No thanks!! Food was nothing special, taste just like any other Asian place.
Highly recommend! Fresh food, excellent service, peaceful and calming atmosphere. Mom loves the food here.
We came for lunch around 1-2PM for a party of 2. It wasn't very busy, maybe 1 or 2 tables were occupied. We were seated immediately and given a takeout menu to look at. We ordered the Dan Dan Noodles and Steamed Pork Dumplings for our appetizers. For my main dish, I ordered the Braised Brisket with Lightly Fried Tofu in Hot Pot. The Dan Dan Noodles came out first. It was quite a large serving and could probably pass as a entree dish. Even sharing between the two of us, we were almost nearly full by the time the entrees came out. The noodles were good, but a little spicy! It did taste like chili oil as well. If you're not a fan of spicy food, you may not enjoy this dish. The Steamed Pork Dumplings came out next. There were 6 pieces total. I honestly can't remember too much about the dumplings--not bad but not good. The Braised Brisket with Lightly Fried Tofu in Hot Pot was quite delicious. It is a soup-based dish and there's plenty of it to share. The broth was delicious, though a little on the saltier side. The brisket was a little tough but still good. It does have skin attached to some of the brisket pieces, which I didn't quite enjoy, but there were sufficient pieces without the skin also. The tofu is firm, and as the name of the dish suggests, lightly fried. It tasted good but I wonder if a softer tofu would complement the dish better. Overall, Cheng Du was a nice little spot to stop in for authentic Chinese dishes. The dishes have big serving sizes, so I would recommend ordering less than you would think. We ended up taking most, if not all, of our entrees home. The food was good and the staff were quick and friendly.
