Based on recent online reviews from customers, the dining experience at Chen's Fusion appears to be met with significant dissatisfaction. One reviewer described it as the "Worst Chinese Restaurant I have ever eaten in," particularly criticizing their buffet. According to this review, the buffet offered a limited selection of food, with a sparse salad bar providing very few options and only one type of dressing. The sushi offering was also minimal, with only one kind available. The reviewer recounted expressing their unhappiness to the cashier, whose response, "we have been here 50 yrs I don’t understand why anyone would eat there," was perceived as unhelpful and dismissive. This customer explicitly stated their intention not to return, suggesting a highly negative experience with the buffet.
Another, even more concerning review detailed multiple issues with the food quality and customer service. This customer reported finding "3 small rocks/pebbles" in an order of chicken fried rice, which unfortunately resulted in a chipped tooth for their friend. Furthermore, the chicken in the fried rice was described as an "indescribable mystery meat" that was "slippery, had zero flavor, and was tough." This raises serious questions about the quality and preparation of the ingredients used.
The same reviewer also ordered Szechuan chicken, which, according to the restaurant's website, should include "broccoli, onions and red bell peppers." However, the dish received contained the same "nasty chicken" found in the fried rice, along with zucchini, carrots, baby corn, and another vegetable described as smelling "like a rest stop bathroom." This significant deviation from the advertised ingredients, coupled with the unpleasant description of the chicken and the additional vegetable, indicates a lack of attention to detail and potentially poor food quality control.
Adding to these issues, the reviewer also described the customer service as "awful," further compounding the negative experience. As a result of these multiple problems with food quality, ingredient accuracy, and service, this customer emphatically stated, "WILL NOT BE BACK."
Given these two highly critical reviews, it is challenging to provide a positive introduction to Chen's Fusion for local users based solely on this information. The feedback highlights significant concerns regarding food quality, ingredient accuracy, buffet selection, and customer service. Potential customers should be aware of these reported issues when considering dining at this establishment.
The reviews do not provide any positive feedback regarding the environment or ambiance of Chen's Fusion. Therefore, no objective description of the restaurant's interior, cleanliness, or overall atmosphere can be provided. Similarly, there is no mention of any specific services offered, such as takeout, delivery, or catering. Without this information, local users cannot assess the convenience or accessibility of Chen's Fusion beyond dining in.
Furthermore, the reviews do not highlight any particular features or specialties of Chen's Fusion that might distinguish it from other Chinese restaurants in the area. The negative comments about the buffet and specific menu items like the chicken fried rice and Szechuan chicken do not suggest any unique strengths. The mention of sushi in one review, with the criticism of having only one kind available, does not position it as a featured item.
Finally, there is no information available in these reviews regarding any promotional offers, discounts, or special deals that Chen's Fusion might be currently offering. Therefore, no insights can be provided to local users looking for value or specific promotions.
In conclusion, based on the available customer reviews, Chen's Fusion in Shelby, NC, appears to be a Chinese restaurant that has elicited significant negative feedback regarding its food quality, buffet selection, ingredient accuracy, and customer service. Potential local users should carefully consider these reported experiences. Due to the lack of positive feedback and the serious nature of the issues raised, it is difficult to recommend Chen's Fusion based on this information alone. Further positive reviews or a significant change in reported experiences would be needed to offer a more favorable introduction. Local users may want to seek more recent and diverse opinions before deciding to dine at Chen's Fusion.

Worst Chinese Restaurant I have ever eaten in. Their Buffet is a joke. Not much to eat on bar.salad bar had very little on it and only 1 kind of dressing. They had 1 kind of Sushi I told cashier that I was not happy her reply was we have been here 50 yrs I don’t understand why anyone would eat there. Maybe they sell meals and they are Ok but they certainly are not a good Buffet. I’m sure I will never eat there again !!!
I am absolutely appalled. First of all my friend ordered chicken fried rice and found 3 small rocks/pebbles in there (seen below), and unfortunately chipped her tooth. Second of all her claimed to be chicken, was indescribable mystery meat. It was slippery, had zero flavor, and was tough. Third of all I had ordered their Szechuan chicken and normally and also listed on their website, it comes with "broccoli, onions and red bell peppers," but mine was filled with the same nasty chicken my friend had, zucchini, carrots, baby corn, and a vegetable that smelled like a rest stop bathroom. Lastly, the costumer service was awful. WILL NOT BE BACK.
Everything was amazing! Loved the food and they made it fresh! 10/10. We will be back!
House Special lo mein had very cold chicken as the moo go gai pan also had very cold chicken in it! Egg roll very hard!
Very good food, we especially like the house rice, with shrimp, chicken and pork. My husband loves their egg rolls. I love their fried chicken wings.
