Welcome to Chen's Express, a Chinese Restaurant located at 1080 GA-99, Townsend, GA 31331, USA. Situated in a small town just off I-95 at Exit 58, Chen's Express offers a unique dining experience characterized by its exceptionally large portions of freshly prepared Chinese cuisine. Based on customer feedback, this establishment is a hidden gem, providing a substantial amount of food at a great value. It is important to note that Chen's Express operates primarily as a takeout-only restaurant and does not accept walk-in orders, so calling ahead is essential.

Customer reviews consistently praise the generous portions offered at Chen's Express. One reviewer described their tray of chicken, beef, and shrimp curry rice noodles as "LOADED with food," even exclaiming, "Holy smokes." They also noted the freshness and temperature of their meal, stating it was "super fresh, super hot." This indicates a commitment to serving freshly cooked dishes with high-quality ingredients. The same reviewer mentioned that their coworker's order of orange chicken with lo mein was so substantial that it could have fed "4-5 people," further emphasizing the remarkable portion sizes.

Another reviewer specifically highlighted the Teriyaki dish as "really good" and also pointed out the "very large portion for the price," reinforcing the value aspect of dining at Chen's Express. They also recommended the Mongolian Beef as a "must try," suggesting it is a standout dish on the menu. This positive feedback across different menu items indicates a consistent level of quality and flavor in their cooking.

A crucial piece of information from one of the reviews is that Chen's Express "doesn’t take walk-ins so you have to call in and order." This is an essential detail for potential customers to be aware of to ensure a smooth ordering process. The reviewer shared their personal experience of waiting 15-20 minutes after arriving without calling ahead, but ultimately deemed it "Well worth the wait!" This suggests that despite the initial inconvenience of not knowing the ordering procedure, the quality and quantity of the food made the experience worthwhile.

Regarding the environment of Chen's Express, one reviewer described it as having "Absolute hole in the wall vibes in a small town that if you blinked you’d miss it." This suggests a no-frills, unassuming setting that prioritizes the food itself over elaborate decor. However, another reviewer mentioned that the "Seating area is comfortable and clean," indicating that while the overall ambiance might be simple, the dining space is well-maintained for customers who do choose to eat on-site while waiting for their orders or perhaps if limited seating is available. The contrasting descriptions suggest that the focus is more on functionality and the quality of the food rather than a specific aesthetic.

The primary service offered by Chen's Express is clearly takeout, given the requirement to call ahead and the "hole in the wall vibes" description. However, the mention of a "comfortable and clean" seating area suggests that there might be limited dine-in options available, perhaps primarily for those waiting for their takeout orders. The quick preparation time noted by one reviewer ("waited 15-20 minutes") indicates efficient service once the order is placed. The friendly and helpful demeanor of the staff can be inferred from the positive overall experiences shared by the customers.

Key features of Chen's Express include the extraordinarily large portions, which offer significant value for the price. The food is described as fresh, hot, and flavorful, with specific dishes like the chicken, beef, and shrimp curry rice noodles, orange chicken with lo mein, Teriyaki, and Mongolian Beef receiving high praise. The unique ordering system, requiring customers to call ahead as walk-ins are not accepted, is another distinctive feature. Additionally, its location right off I-95 at Exit 58 makes it a convenient stop for travelers. The fact that they are closed on Sunday is also an important piece of information for potential customers planning their visits.

Stopped on the way down south for a roadtrip. Absolute hole in the wall vibes in a small town that if you blinked you’d miss it. This tray was LOADED with food. Holy smokes. I ordered the chicken, beef, and shrimp curry rice noodles. Super fresh, super hot. Coworker ordered the orange chicken with lo mein. There was enough food for 4-5 people. Keep this on your list if you’re hungry! Please note, she doesn’t take walk-ins so you have to call in and order. We didn’t know this so we waited 15-20 minutes. Well worth the wait!

Food has always been tasty and plentiful. I did knock one star as the crab rangoons have absolutely no filling in them. They are just fried Wonton papers. My only complaint, though.

I have drove past this place so many times. I finally felt an urge for some Chinese so I stopped by. Let me tell you! Big portions. You are not going home starved and you'll definitely have leftovers. I had gotten the beef lo mein, General Tsos chicken. Good flavors, big portions and great prices. I paid 19.50 for all that 🤯 🥳 mind blown baby!!
