Chef Sun’s Noodle and Dumpling McKinney

Amazing Chinese restaurant in Dallas! I visited this restaurant based on a friend’s recommendation, and it did not disappoint! I heard it’s a relatively new place, but the food quality is top-notch. The menu had so many tempting options, and I ended up ordering xiao long bao, steamed dumplings, chicken potstickers, chili noodles, pork & shrimp siu mai, and the wood ear mushroom salad. Everything was absolutely delicious! The chili noodles were bursting with flavor, perfectly chewy, and had the right amount of spice. The xiao long bao was juicy and full of umami. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic and delicious dim sum in the Dallas area!

All the dumplings, from soup dumplings to potstickers, were perfect. The non-dumpling dishes we tried were just okay. Service was excellent, and the ambiance felt upscale, with patio seating overlooking the amphitheater. Prices reflect the location, about 20% higher than similar spots further south without the same atmosphere.

All of the staff were great! Ella was so helpful navigating the menu and guiding our choices. we loved seeing the chefs preparing dumplings, the food was amazing!

Chef Sun Noodle and Dumpling has potential, but our experience left much to be desired. We arrived on a busy Sunday, only to realize there was no proper waitlist or hostess to organize seating. Despite arriving first, the party behind us was seated before us, which was frustrating. A simple waitlist system or a dedicated host could have made a big difference in keeping things fair and efficient. Once seated, we noticed that the restaurant seemed short-staffed. We only saw three servers handling a packed dining area, which led to slow service and a somewhat chaotic atmosphere. The staff was doing their best, but it was clear they were overwhelmed. As for the food, it was just okay. The flavors weren’t bad, but nothing stood out as particularly memorable. The biggest disappointment was the portion size. The restaurant serves their food on oversized plates, which gives the illusion of a generous serving, but in reality, the portions were quite small. For the price, we expected a bit more. Overall, Chef Sun Noodle and Dumpling has good potential, but they need to improve their organization and portion sizes. A proper waitlist and more staff on busy days would make a huge difference. The food is decent, but with so many other great noodle and dumpling spots around, it’s hard to justify coming back unless they make improvements. With a few changes, this could easily be a five-star experience.

I ordered delivery and wow ! Packaged perfectly Great portion Perfect temperature ! Ohh yes … it was HOT HOT HOT …. Not warm. Hot, just made! FRESH LIKE I JUST MADE IT … but better bc I didn’t have to do a thing lol crunchy and delicious crab Rangoon and spring roll. Not greasy … not soggy ! I can cry now I’m so happy haha I did not expect this from delivery as it is usually a disaster :( imagine eating there … wow ! I’m coming soon bc they impressed me. Beef noodles great! Not salty, very flavorful. I shared with my toddler and she devoured it… still have leftovers. Best money spent. (Not pricey either!!) I was scrolling on IG and saw it recommended by a halal foodie page… and bc I have a bit of a headache I thought “let’s gamble” bc I don’t like delivery most of the time hence I don’t order. Not today :) I’m happy and my headache is gone haha double win! Thanks got the great food :)
