Chef Soon Contemporary Sushi & Bar

My wife and I have been coming to Chef Soon’s regularly for the past couple of years, and honestly, it’s the only place we’ll go for sushi. The quality of the fish, the flavors, and the attention to detail in every roll—there’s just nothing like it. Every dish is made with such precision and pride, and it shows in each bite. Chef Soon himself is like a well-oiled machine, and watching him work is part of the experience. The whole team is friendly and genuinely cares about what they’re serving, and you can tell they all take real pride in their roles. Whether you’re a die-hard sushi fan or trying it for the first time, this place will make you a believer. Trust me, you won’t find better sushi or a better vibe anywhere else

Worth the drive, this is a place that doesn't skimp on quality. It was really fun trying the different rolls, I am a picky eater and loved everything we ordered. Our waitress was kind and went over the menu thoroughly with us, despite being busy they did not cut any corners and everything came out perfect. Great attention to detail, comfortable seats and fun to watch the chefs hand crafting great sushi. We will be back, thank you for the great expereince! Best sushi we ever had!

Celebrating a birthday. Even though we had reservations there was no room inside and we were seated out side staring at the trash can. The food was decent, Service was nice. Portions on the smaller size. Asked for no ice in drinks although that was consistently overlooked and drinks were filled with ice. Tasty and reasonably fresh. We were automatically charged a 18% tip. You have to inspect the receipt closely or you will likely double tip!

Note : this is a reservation restaurant. We walked in right when they opened and didn't realize they were a reservation restaurant. Still the staff managed to get us a table, so we were happy! The quality of the sushi here is amazing. Some of the combos kinda scared me (strawberry and mango) but when I tried..it was some serious food alchemy. Definitely trust there special combos. One of our highlights was an eel roll called the turtle. So freaking cute!! And then we got dessert, amazing as well. I dream about more pistachio gelato. Highly recommend this place as a date night or celebratory location (prices are high but worth it).

The chef's creations are mind blowing. The modern design of the restaurant is beautiful, and the service was attentive and informative (when the chef recommends NO soy sauce to be used, you know it'll hit your taste buds in a new way). The combination of flavors, high quality ingredients and artful execution created a sushi experience I'll remember and talk about for a long time. I believe we ordered around a dozen items and every one of them were spectacular. We even tried the mackerel (this is a more oily, fishy fish) and it was awesome! Whenever I make it back to Chicago, this is a must-have treat for me!
