About Chef Chuan

Welcome to Chef Chuan, a Chinese restaurant located at 2636 Dupont Dr #40, Irvine, CA 92612, USA. If you're a local user looking for an authentic Chinese culinary experience, Chef Chuan offers a glimpse into traditional flavors. You can contact them at (949) 553-9988 or their mobile number +1 949-553-9988.

Based on recent customer reviews, here's a balanced perspective on what you might expect from Chef Chuan:

  • Authentic Chinese Cuisine: One reviewer explicitly mentions the authenticity of the food, suggesting that those familiar with Chinese cuisine may particularly appreciate the flavors.
  • Large Portions: Customers have received generous servings, with one noting a "very big plate of food" when ordering the shredded pork and peppers bowl.
  • Fresh Ingredients: The peppers in the shredded pork dish were described as fresh, indicating a focus on ingredient quality.
  • Potential Communication Challenges: A significant point raised is the difficulty in communication for non-Chinese speakers. One customer experienced a language barrier that required assistance from two staff members to place an order and resulted in the inability to order egg rolls. The availability of common condiments like hot mustard and sriracha may also be limited.
  • Inconsistent Order Fulfillment and Customer Service: Another recent review reported receiving only half a bowl for a delivery order placed through Uber One. Attempts to contact the restaurant resulted in a hang-up, and the reviewer expressed dissatisfaction with both the attitude and the taste of the food, considering it overpriced.

In summary, Chef Chuan in Irvine appears to offer authentic Chinese food with generous portions and fresh ingredients. However, potential customers, especially those who do not speak Chinese, should be aware of potential communication challenges when ordering. Additionally, recent feedback indicates possible issues with order accuracy, portion sizes for delivery orders, and customer service. It's advisable to consider these mixed experiences when deciding to dine at or order from Chef Chuan.

I just ordered their shredded pork and peppers bowl and I got a very big plate of food. The food is very good. The peppers were fresh and the shredded pork was substantial. The only issue that may prevent this place from having more success is the trouble with the communication. I am not Chinese. They are clearly Chinese here and it took two people to take my order. There is no hot mustard or sriracha to be had but I was able to get a red pepper medley to spice up the dish. They did not understand me when I asked for egg rolls so I let that go. I was able to gesture and mime my way to getting a good plate just know that this place is authentic Chinese and if you speak Chinese, you will enjoy both the food and the service. For me, it was a bit of a struggle but with great results.

Pickup an order from uber one. Only half bowl of dish, called then but they hang up, very bad attitude. Also the food doesn’t taste good. Can’t believe it costs me 34 dollars

Placed a pick-up order online, and the restaurant accepted the order. The store hour showed they closed at 12:50pm, I arrived at 10:30pm but the store closed. Are you kidding me? You can closed on New Year’s Eve, please make sure your store hour lists out correctly, and don't accept the order!

It's obviously a booth mainly depending on online food order. They don't even have porcelain dishes. Entrée is fine. Not bad, not surprising. A little salty even for me. Not worth visiting there specifically. But if you are there at lunchtime and you want a simple meal, it's a good choice.

A restaurant worthy of the title of chef. Mapo tofu, cumin lamb, sour soup beef. Tough to choose a favorite among them, all amazing in different ways. Hopefully the restaurant is not named in tribute to an abductee perhaps from an internationally famous restaurant being forced to cook against their will. That would be bad, but on the other hand it would explain the incredibly high quality of the cooking at such reasonable prices. I would urge everyone to order from here and be on the lookout for any secreted appeals for help.... subsequently ordered dry pot ribs, cumin lamb and spicy pepper with pork; all delicious variations of spicy flavors
