About Charming Sichuan
Welcome to Charming Sichuan, a new Chinese restaurant located at 136-93 37th Ave in Flushing, New York, dedicated to bringing the vibrant and intense flavors of Sichuan cuisine to the local dining scene. As a recent addition to the diverse culinary landscape of Flushing, Charming Sichuan has quickly garnered attention for its commitment to authentic Sichuan dishes, characterized by their bold spiciness and complex flavor profiles. For local users seeking a genuine taste of Sichuan, this restaurant promises a culinary adventure that will tantalize the taste buds.
Based on initial customer reviews, Charming Sichuan appears to be undergoing its initial phase of operation, with one reviewer noting that the menu was a single sheet written entirely in Chinese. This might present a challenge for those who are not proficient in the language, as they might not be able to independently understand the dishes offered. However, this could also be an indicator of the restaurant's focus on catering to those who appreciate authentic regional Chinese cuisine. It is advisable for potential customers who do not read Chinese to inquire about an English menu or seek assistance from the staff when ordering. The fact that the reviewer's wife could read Chinese allowed them to order familiar dishes for comparison, suggesting a willingness to accommodate diverse clientele.
The environment of Charming Sichuan seems to be a transformation from a previous noodle establishment. Customers have described it as a "fantastic new addition to the neighborhood," implying a positive change and a welcoming atmosphere. The decor and overall ambiance are not explicitly detailed, but the focus appears to be on the food itself. As a new restaurant, Charming Sichuan likely aims to create a comfortable and inviting space for diners to enjoy the rich and spicy flavors of Sichuan cuisine. Further visits or online searches might reveal more about the restaurant's interior design and overall vibe.
In terms of services, Charming Sichuan can be contacted at (347) 368-4132 or their mobile number +1 347-368-4132, suggesting they are available for phone inquiries and likely accept takeout orders. Given the prevalence of delivery services in Flushing, especially for Chinese restaurants, it is reasonable to assume that Charming Sichuan might also offer delivery to the local area. To confirm their delivery range, fees, and estimated times, it is recommended to call them directly. For those who wish to dine in and experience the dishes fresh, the restaurant at their 37th Avenue address welcomes customers. As a new and highly recommended spot, it might be prudent to call ahead for reservations, especially during peak hours, to ensure seating availability.
The standout feature of Charming Sichuan is undoubtedly its dedication to serving authentic Sichuan cuisine. Reviewers consistently praise the bold, spicy, and rich flavors of the dishes. The complimentary cold cabbage starter is noted for its fragrant oil and delicious taste, indicating a promising start to the dining experience. The sauerkraut fish is described as "good" with "silky smooth" fish and flavorful broth, suggesting a well-executed classic Sichuan dish. The duck blood dish is also highlighted for its flavor, although one reviewer mentioned that other ingredients might have needed more time to fully absorb the flavors.
One of the most praised dishes was the fatty pork with black beans and peppers, described as having "the most intense flavors" and being "really good." This highlights the restaurant's ability to deliver dishes with deep and complex flavor profiles, a hallmark of authentic Sichuan cooking. The stir-fry cabbage was noted to be on the softer side but still very flavorful, indicating a generally high standard of taste across different preparations.
The overall sentiment from the reviews is overwhelmingly positive, with multiple recommendations to try Charming Sichuan. The transformation from a noodle place to a Sichuan specialty restaurant is seen as a significant and impressive improvement, quickly establishing it as a "go-to spot" for those craving authentic Sichuan flavors. The repeated emphasis on the spiciness and rich, complex tastes suggests that this restaurant caters to those who appreciate the fiery and nuanced aspects of Sichuan cuisine.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Charming Sichuan based on the provided reviews. As a new establishment, they might be focusing on establishing their reputation through the quality and authenticity of their food. This place is new and we wanted to give it a try. The menu is a white sheet of paper with just Chinese writing. If you can’t read Chinese, you won’t be able to order. I think the real menu isn’t available yet. Didn’t ask. Luckily my wife can read and we ordered a few dishes we usually like to compare to other restaurants. The cold cabbage they give you as a starter for free is tasty. The oil is a so fragrant. We ordered sauerkraut fish. It was good, fish was silky smooth. Full of flavor. Vermicelli on the bottom. Drank the soup with the vermicelli. Duck blood dish was flavorful also. But the other ingredients didn’t have time to soak in flavor yet. The stir fry cabbage dish was a little on the soft side. But very flavorful. The best dish came last, the fatty pork with black beans and peppers. The most intense flavors and really good. Highly recommended. Worth a try. Will definitely go back and try more dishes. Flushing has a lot of Szechuan restaurants to choose from now!
Charming Sichuan is a fantastic new addition to the neighborhood! Previously a noodle place, it has transformed into a spot that specializes in bold, authentic Sichuan flavors. The food is incredibly tasty—packed with spice and rich, complex flavors that hit just the right balance. If you’re a fan of spicy food, this place won’t disappoint. Every dish we tried had the perfect kick and was bursting with flavor. The transformation from the old noodle place to this vibrant Sichuan restaurant is impressive, and it’s quickly becoming a go-to spot for anyone craving authentic Sichuan cuisine. Highly recommend giving it a try!
Absolutely delicious. Everything we got was perfect seasoned and cooked. The burnt pepper eggplant was unlike any I’ve had and was stellar
New place. Super flavorful food. Ambience is quiet and peaceful. Service is friendly. The dishes we got were super spicy but yummy! They didn't have water spinach this time, so they substituted with another veggie. The other dishes we got were beef and 干烧带鱼 (ribbonfish/hairtail).
This is a new restaurant. I got the Sichuan style roasted pork & fish flavored egg plant. They were both delicious. Good flavor in both. Maybe it was a little bit oily for my liking. The service and background music was amazing as well.
