A standout recommendation is the "Combo A (Beef Hotpot)." This dish is described as a "go-to choice" featuring a "Savory, flavorful soup that’s exceptionally comforting, especially on a cold chilly day." The hotpot format suggests a communal and interactive dining experience, perfect for sharing with friends and family. The reviewer also advises adding "Kway Teow (Rice Noodles)" for "the ultimate satisfaction," providing a valuable tip for maximizing enjoyment of this popular dish, recommending a quick soak to maintain the noodle's texture.
For appetizers, the "Pan Fried Taro Cakes" receive high praise for being "Crispy and savory on the outside, chewy and sweet (and hot!) on the inside." This textural and flavor contrast makes it a delightful start to any meal, and the reviewer playfully acknowledges its "deliciousness loaded with carbs lol," suggesting a satisfying and indulgent treat. Meat lovers will appreciate the "Shacha Sauce Beef Ribs," described as "Sauce-flavored and delicious, satisfying choice for the carnivore cravings." The mention of "Shacha Sauce," a savory and slightly spicy condiment popular in Southeast Asian and some Chinese cuisines, hints at a unique flavor profile that sets this dish apart.
Beyond the beef-centric dishes, Chao Wei Ju also receives accolades for its "chicken soup," which is "very good" and "very recommended." This suggests that their culinary expertise extends beyond beef to other comforting and flavorful soups. Another praised starter is the "deep fried ball" from the "starter special," indicating a knack for creating delicious and texturally interesting small bites.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ MY FAVORITE SPOT for Chaoshan style beef soup in LA! Literally everything I’ve tried here is so good 😭 We keep coming back! 🍲 Combo A (Beef Hotpot) Our go-to choice! Savory, flavorful soup that’s exceptionally comforting, especially on a cold chilly day. Add Kway Teow (Rice Noodles) for the ultimate satisfaction! (Soak it in and take it out quickly, don’t leave it boiling for too long) 🍢 Pan Fried Taro Cakes Crispy and savory on the outside, chewy and sweet (and hot!) on the inside. I love this appetizer (deliciousness loaded with carbs lol)!! 🍢 Special Chaozhou Platters is a solid choice as well! More variety to try out. 🍖 Shacha Sauce Beef Ribs Sauce-flavored and delicious, satisfying choice for the carnivore cravings. Note the potion is big- it comes with 2 ribs. Just writing this makes me want to go back… 🥺 Please give this place a try and you won’t regret it!

Took my parents here on a whim. And we actually enjoyed it! I’m sure others with the bad reviews might’ve just went on an off day or got bothered by the language barrier. But my Thai parents and I would totally go back! Service - we totally couldn’t understand each other so there was just a lot of pointing and nodding. But, they got our order correct and they were still super nice! She even pointed out the sauce bar to me so I knew to go use it. Food came out fast. Food - I would definitely go back to try different noodles and their hot pot next time for sure! The fried rice was really good even more so after adding some of their sauces. I would probably skip the Special Chaozhou Platter next time, even though it was good and love eating those, you can just buy them and fry them on your own. The beef ribs were so rich and flavorful. Added some more sauce to cut the fatty richness but the meat was so tender and really good. Beef skewers were just okay to me. Definitely needed more of the seasoning sprinkled on them. Nothing was bad in any way, again - my family and I would absolutely go back to try more items and get more beef ribs! Parking - small little free lot! We got there early so we easily found a spot and we were to enjoy our dinner before a huge rush.
Update sept 2024, We gave this restaurant another try after the negative review from last time. It seems now the attitude is better now. We got seated right away around lunch time. Upon seating, you will get their complimentary hot tea. It was nice and cute tea pot. But we think it was too small, if you drink lots of tea in between meal. But the good thing is they will refill your tea so you have constant hot tea. Good for cold weather. We had their beef noodle soup and cuttlefish fish noodle soup. Both were goods. In terms of the soup, they are all the same just the ingredients and meat preferences on each one. Soup is sweet and very warming. Also, there is sauce station, where you can get their sauces. Highly recommend their chili garlic and spicy Sacha sauce. Taste goods with their soup noodles. For parking, it was little small, maybe about than 15 to 20 spaces and street parking could be hit or miss since it was on the residential area. We will come back for another try for other dishes next time.
Either hit or miss. We did enjoy their Chao Zhou style noodle (Kuey teow), beef tripes, and beef cube fried rice. Would recommend trying their sauces (they have a mini sauce bar), housemade shacha sauce was really good. I honestly thought everything tasted better with it. However, I would not recommend their oyster pancake and combo A hotpot, both were too plain and the hotpot beef broth tasted like a big pot of MSG water :( Should have probably ordered Combo C, I guess? Good thing service was friendly, though.
