Information regarding the specific environment or ambiance of Chan's Restaurant is somewhat limited based on the provided customer reviews. One reviewer mentioned it being their "go-to favorite for our family," which could suggest a comfortable and family-friendly atmosphere. However, the reviews do not offer detailed descriptions of the restaurant's decor or overall setting. Therefore, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive overview of the environment without further information. It is reasonable to infer that as a local family favorite, it likely offers a welcoming and casual dining space.

In terms of services, Chan's Restaurant appears to cater to both dine-in and takeout customers. One reviewer specifically mentioned ordering takeout, indicating that this service is available. The positive comment about it being a "go-to favorite for our family" likely implies that dine-in service is also a regular offering. The second reviewer, despite a negative experience with their takeout order, did note that the service was "very polite otherwise," suggesting a positive aspect of their customer interaction, regardless of the food quality issue.

The limited customer feedback provides contrasting views on the food quality at Chan's Restaurant. One reviewer expressed strong satisfaction, identifying it as their family's favorite and specifically mentioning several dishes they enjoy, including beef kung-pow, beef lo mein, Chan's chow mein, and pork fried rice. The fact that these dishes are consistently ordered by a returning family suggests that they are likely well-prepared and flavorful. This reviewer also noted that the pricing is "reasonable," indicating a good value proposition for their favorite meals.

In stark contrast, another customer had a significantly negative experience with a takeout order. They described the fried pork and shrimp as being "dry and hard as a rock," indicating a significant issue with the preparation and quality of these items. Furthermore, they reported that two of the takeout containers were open due to ripped tabs, raising concerns about the packaging and handling of the food for off-premises consumption. This reviewer found these issues "unacceptable," especially considering what they perceived as a "premium price tag," suggesting a mismatch between the price paid and the quality received. Despite the negative feedback on the food and packaging, this reviewer did acknowledge that the service was "very polite otherwise," separating the issue with the food from the politeness of the staff.

The contrasting reviews make it challenging to form a definitive overall assessment of the food quality and consistency at Chan's Restaurant. While one reviewer highlights popular dishes and reasonable pricing based on positive experiences, the other details a concerning experience with poorly prepared takeout items and inadequate packaging. This discrepancy suggests that the quality of food might vary, or that certain dishes or preparation methods may be more reliable than others. Potential customers might find the list of favored dishes from the satisfied reviewer helpful when making their choices.

Currently, no specific promotional information for Chan's Restaurant has been mentioned in the provided reviews. Local family-owned restaurants like Chan's often have their own specials or pricing strategies that might appeal to regular customers. To inquire about any current promotions, daily specials, or the pricing of their menu items, it would be best to contact Chan's Restaurant directly at (503) 873-6741.

In conclusion, Chan's Restaurant in Silverton, OR, is a Chinese restaurant that appears to be a local family favorite for some, with mentions of reasonably priced and well-liked dishes such as beef kung-pow, beef lo mein, Chan's chow mein, and pork fried rice. However, there is also a report of a very negative experience with a takeout order involving dry and hard fried items and damaged packaging, which was deemed unacceptable given the perceived premium price. While the service was noted as polite in both reviews, the significant difference in food quality experiences suggests potential inconsistencies. Potential customers may want to consider the specific dishes praised by the satisfied reviewer and perhaps exercise caution with fried takeout items based on the negative feedback. For the most accurate information about their menu, services, and any current promotions, contacting the restaurant directly is recommended.

This is our go-to favorite for our family. Some of our favorite dishes include beef kung-pow, beef lo mein, chans chow mein, & pork fried rice. Pricing is resonable.

I'll go to Safeway deli before I get food here again. Ordered takeout and the fried pork and shrimp were dry and hard as a rock. Two of the takeout containers were open because the tab was ripped off. Unacceptable considering the premium price tag. Very polite otherwise.

The food is always fresh. It's the longtime favorite in Silverton but with fresh recipes often

Unfortunately, I wouldn’t suggest going back, as the food quality was poor, and it doesn’t accurately represent traditional Chinese flavors, making it a waste of money.

I used to say I would take the worst Chinese food over the best Mexican food. I don't like Mexican food. I mean, really good Mexican food is fine, but it never knocks my socks off because I don't particularly like the flavor palette, period. Meanwhile I really love Asian food, and Chinese is an easy, familiar favorite. Unless you live in Silverton and have Chan's. Oh god, I've TRIED, y'all, but Chan's is not good. I'll have to eat my words, because Ixtapa, the local Mexican place, is so good by comparison. The atmosphere is solid, there're always a lot of people there, the owners are really nice, and the food is good. But we're reviewing Chan's here, so let's do it. Chan's is a dive. I know, I know. As far as American Chinese goes, "dive" is the bar that is set and plenty of places make up for atmosphere by having killer good food, but Chan's... let's just say that customer presence is really important to add to the atmosphere, and there's never exactly a line out the door, let alone anyone else in the building when we've been. Actually, there're been a few times when we've driven by and wondered if they'd finally shuttered the business. Service wise, Chan's is fine. It's family owned, and they generally seem nice and laid back. We've been present for at least one pretty intense squabble between family members though, and it was really awkward because we were the only white people in the building and didn't know how to comfort the woman serving us with tears in her eyes. I know to western ears Mandarin and Cantonese sound very intense on the regular, but that night, we definitely witnessed something unpleasant. I felt really bad. Finally, food. The reason we're here, and the reason I'm writing this review so that when I'm tempted by desperation again to "just go to Chan's" instead of ordering takeaway from Bing's (Mt Angel, so much better than Chan's, only open for carry out, not always convenient for alleviating cabin fever) or one of the Thai/Japanese places in town (all good, but don't always hit the "Chinese" craving), I'll come back to this and remember that, no, we should never just go to Chan's. Chan's is bland. It's really hard to distinguish dishes from each other because they all taste the same. The vegetables are essentially the cheap bag of mixed cubes and spheres trying to pass as carrots and peas you ate as a kid. The sauce is a gelatinous goo that comes in clear for dishes with veggies, and red when it's "sweet and sour," but the flavor is still nonexistent. There are no other sauces, by the way. There is no orange chicken, sesame chicken, or General Tso's. They're on the menu, but when you order, say, sesame chicken, it comes out as deep fried batter with sesame seeds in it... and a side of ketchup and mustard for dipping. WHAT?! The pork is also really questionable and has made me sick every time I go, including now. It was the sweet and sour pork this time, but the ribs are what got me the last time. Don't go to Chan's, especially if you're a tourist. Yes, it's cheaper than a lot of our restaurants, but the quality for those places is worth the price, or we have other cheap places that are far more worth your time and dollars. I know this family relies on this income, and I hope the best for them (especially given how stressed they were at least that one time), but I can't eat here ever again.
