About Chan's Garden

Welcome to Chan's Garden, a Chinese restaurant situated at 215 3rd St, Bay City, MI 48708, USA. Chan's Garden presents itself as a compact, "hole-in-the-wall" establishment offering a convenient option for those seeking a quick bite of Chinese cuisine in the Bay City area. With a focus on fast service and likely catering significantly to takeout orders due to its limited seating, Chan's Garden aims to provide a swift dining solution. For orders or inquiries, they can be reached at (989) 892-8861 or +1 989-892-8861.

Based on the limited customer feedback available, experiences at Chan's Garden appear to be somewhat varied. One reviewer highlighted the friendliness of the staff, stating, "The people were very friendly." This suggests a welcoming and positive interaction with the service personnel, which can contribute significantly to the overall dining experience, even if other aspects might not meet expectations.

However, this same reviewer expressed considerable dissatisfaction with the food itself. They ordered the sesame chicken and egg foo young, and unfortunately, their experience was negative. They reported eating very little of their meals and ultimately discarding the rest, describing it as "not good at all" and a "definite waste of $32." This strong criticism indicates potential issues with the quality or preparation of these specific dishes, which are common offerings at many Chinese restaurants. This feedback should be taken into consideration by potential customers, particularly those considering ordering these items.

In contrast, another reviewer had a more moderate experience, characterizing Chan's Garden as a "nice little hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant for a quick bite." This description aligns with the potential for a small establishment focused on efficiency and speed. This reviewer also noted the limited seating inside and a small parking lot, which suggests that Chan's Garden might be better suited for takeout or a very brief dine-in experience if seating is available.

Regarding the service, this second reviewer corroborated the speed mentioned by the first, stating that the staff was "quick attending to me and getting the food out." This reinforces the idea that efficient service is a key characteristic of Chan's Garden. The reviewer also mentioned observing possibly only one or two servers during their visit, indicating a small operational scale.

In terms of specific food items beyond the negative experience with sesame chicken and egg foo young, this second reviewer offered a mixed assessment. They noted that the soda was flat, which is a basic aspect of beverage service that could impact the overall impression. On a positive note, they found the egg roll to be "extra crispy," which was to their liking. This suggests that some dishes might be prepared well and cater to certain preferences.

The reviewer also ordered a "pork noodle dish (pictured)" and reported that it was "good." This provides a more positive data point regarding at least one of the menu items. The fact that they included a picture in their review (though not available to us) suggests that the presentation might have been satisfactory as well. The overall efficiency of their visit was also highlighted, as they were "in and out in less than 30mins," further emphasizing the "quick bite" nature of Chan's Garden.

Based on these limited reviews, the environment of Chan's Garden appears to be that of a small, unassuming "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant, likely prioritizing speed and takeout service due to limited seating and parking. The service is generally described as friendly and quick. However, the quality of the food seems to be inconsistent, with one reviewer expressing strong dissatisfaction with the sesame chicken and egg foo young, while another found a pork noodle dish to be good and appreciated the crispiness of the egg roll.

There is no information available in these reviews regarding any specific features that might set Chan's Garden apart from other similar establishments, beyond its size and focus on quick service. The menu likely includes standard Chinese-American dishes, but the quality of preparation appears to be a point of concern based on one customer's experience.

Similarly, there is no mention of any promotional information, special offers, or discounts at Chan's Garden in the provided feedback. As a small, local establishment, they might not have extensive marketing or promotional activities, but it is impossible to determine this definitively based on the given data.

In conclusion, Chan's Garden in Bay City, MI, offers a quick and friendly service experience in a small, no-frills setting. It might be a convenient option for those needing a fast takeout meal. However, potential customers should be aware of the mixed reviews regarding food quality. While one customer found the pork noodle dish and egg roll satisfactory, another had a very negative experience with the sesame chicken and egg foo young. Given this conflicting feedback, it might be prudent for new customers to try a less common dish or manage their expectations based on the "hole-in-the-wall" description. Without further information, it is difficult to provide a more comprehensive assessment of the overall dining experience at Chan's Garden.

For local users in Bay City looking for a Chinese restaurant that prioritizes speed and friendly service, Chan's Garden could be worth considering, especially for takeout. However, the starkly contrasting opinions on food quality suggest that individual experiences may vary. It might be advisable to start with a small order or inquire about the preparation of specific dishes before committing to a larger meal. As there is no information on promotions, customers should be prepared for standard menu pricing.

The people were very friendly. But I'm sorry to say the food was not good at all. I ordered the sesame chicken and my husband got the egg foo young and we ended up eating very little and threw the rest away. Definitely a waste of $32.

This place is a nice little hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant for a quick bite. Not much seating inside, small parking lot and maybe 1-2 servers based on the time I went (7/11). They were quick attending to me and getting the food out. The soda was flat but the egg roll was extra crispy like I like it. I got the pork noodle dish(pictured) and it was good. I was in and out in less than 30mins.

My first time trying this place and I was very excited. I should have had him print me a receipt, but I declined. I ordered fried wontons, Crab Rangoon and spicy sour soup.. The soup was yummy. I got empty fried wonton wrappers with maybe what might be a suggestion of something inside.. which did not taste like crabmeat or cheese (and it looked brown?).... (See attached video). I am VERY disappointed... This establishment should be embarrassed to disservice their customer in this way.

Whew what a disgusting place! I'm so livid about my food I ordered before work. I ordered orange chicken and chicken FRIED rice. The rice is steamed and not fried at all! I don't understand. I called to complain and they agreed to remake my order and deliver it to my job because I couldn't leave. I appreciated that very much however when they brung back my 2nd meal it looked exactly the same but this time slimy as if they spat in it or did something worst. I did not trust it and threw it out. What a waste of almost $20 and I'm still left hungry as I gave them back my 1st order. I would NEVER recommend this place to not even a dog. The orange chicken is not orange flavored at all. Idk who back there cooking but it certainly isn't Chinese people! And that's what I except coming from a Chinese restaurant. I work for a big corporation and made sure I told the plant about this place with pictures to prove. Another time I ordered sizzling rice and they didn't put the rice in there. I had to go back. This was my last straw. Food cost too much and I work hard for my money. Edit to response: Wow and you're liars?? None of what you're saying is true. I pay very good money for my food with no issues. I expect quality service and quality food. AND YOUR RESTAURANT HAS NEITHER!!! JUST FILTHY! I am financially blessed to be able to pay whatever I want on a meal and I fine dine often as well as donate often to those in need. That's neither here nor there. Asking about clarification about pricing is NOT complaining! Get it right. Of course I was shocked of the $7/8 uncharge of added chicken and green onion to a combo meal. I go to lots of different restaurants and that was a 1st for me. Asking and complaining is 2 different things. And you're lying about the soy sauce. You didn't include any in the 1st order and I asked for extra soy sauce over the phone with the 2nd order so why would you lie. Then yall tried to be funny by putting over 20 soy sauce in the bag. My co workers are my witnesses even heard the whole order/ conversation. And the original order was asked for and I gave to your driver as he requested so what are you talking about liar wow. Terrible on yall behalf. But that's okay because you'll never get my business again! Truth is the truth and a lie will be a lie. God bless and good day!

Food was very good, and reasonably priced. I'll be back for more! I didn't realize, though, that it was take-out only & that I'd have to wait outside for my food 🥶
