Caribbean Shack

The customer service was absolutely wonderful but the food was not good at all it was lacking in flavor. We had curry chicken and shrimp. We only come down once a year from South Carolina but we will not be returning next year after the taste of the food today.

I tried here this past weekend on a last-minute search for some dhalpuri and buss up shot to take back to some family on a trip I had coming up. I tried their doubles also while waiting for my other order to be packaged up, and they were absolutely delicious. The mango chutney and tamarind sauce were very good also! I will definitely be back to try their other selections!

I’ve been visiting this place for years since I was a kid and i never had any problems. this is my second time visiting since their new remodel and I ordered what I normally order a curry chicken roti this time I ordered bone in and it was absolutely DISGUSTING. The buss up shot was so thick and had a weird scent to it and the chicken was horrible it had no flavor at all and dry. I’ve never been so disappointed after working all day I thought I was about to enjoy a good meal once I got home. Idk if you guys have someone new in the kitchen but this tasted nothing like what I remember. Being from the Virgin Islands this used to be the closest place I could dine to make me feel like home.

I have a love-hate relationship with Doubles. I love to eat it, but I hate the extreme oiliness and how it makes me feel afterward. When I first moved from the Dallas area, another Roti shop nearby was a novelty to me, and I frequented the restaurant to satisfy my doubles cravings. However, their doubles and curry gave me the worst breakouts and stomach upset. I visited other places, and they were okay, but today, I had the pleasure of dining at Caribbean Shack!! From the moment I walked in, Mel (working the register) gave us the warmest and most welcoming smile! He saw me checking out the menu and immediately said if I had any questions, to please feel free to ask. He also explained the menu and their current options. I was excited to see all their offerings. What really sets them apart are their additional healthier options like fresh smoothies! If your kids are like mine, instead of waiting on you to finish eating, they can now enjoy a healthy and nutritious option like a Green smoothie or several other options besides west indian meals. My husband and I ordered the "Doubles with everything". THEY WERE PHENOMENAL! The bara was light (not doughy) and far from oily! The channa was flavorful, and the accompanying chutneys were perfectly seasoned and not too spicy, watered down, nor too over powering to take away from the doubles itself. West Indian food is not my husband's first choice, but his comment after eating the Doubles from Caribbean Shack were on point — "This is the first time I felt good after eating Doubles." It's the end of the day and still no complaints from our stomachs! I also tried the egg ball with mango sour, and the egg ball by far was the best I've had. The outer texture was not doughy or dripping with oil. It was crispy, tasty, and had a perfect crunch in every bite! I'm looking forward to future visits and updating on their curries and fried rice! Things I loved were the friendly customer service experience, attentiveness, warm and welcoming atmosphere and definitely the doubles!! Also, I believe everything is Halal. What needs some care is updating the menu prices. For instance, the menu says $2.75 per Doubles, but $2.99 was the charge. What you should know when dining in...an 18% gratuity is added for parties of 2 or more. I can see where this would be an issue for some; however, Mel provided excellent customer service, was attentive to us throughout our dining experience, checked on us shortly after receiving our meals, and provided an enjoyable experience. Whereas, dining at these places, you don't usually see anyone after getting your food. Since the food was delicious, atmosphere was great, and customer service was excellent, the gratuity is a small price to pay so our community have more options, while helping a small business thrive.

I was in HEAVEN with my first bite of the doubles! The veggie dish had amazing AMAZING flavor!! The prices are highly affordable for any budget. Excellent find while on vacation!! If I could give it 10 starts a would!!!!!
