About Canto House

Canto House is a Chinese restaurant located at 941 Race St, Philadelphia, PA 19107, USA. You can contact them at (267) 881-8880 or mobile +1 267-881-8880.

As a Chinese Restaurant, Canto House offers authentic Cantonese cuisine, distinct from the spicier dishes often found in mainland Chinese restaurants. It is described as a small, family-owned and operated business. Some reviewers suggest that the service might be less focused on extensive personal attention, especially during busy periods, which they attribute to the nature of a family-run establishment.

However, other customers have reported positive service experiences, including helpful dish recommendations and quick service. One reviewer mentioned the staff even pointed out a passing dragon dance parade. The BBQ at Canto House is frequently highlighted as traditional and tasty, and the Ho Fun (wide rice noodles) is also recommended. A unique feature is the option to purchase a whole crispy duck to take home, ideal for making duck pancakes.

While one customer found the wonton noodle soup to be lacking in flavor and the duck skin soggy, they still recommended trying the rest of the menu, praising the freshness of the fried rice and the hot, crunchy spring rolls. Overall, Canto House is suggested as a place to try with an open mind, appreciating the experience of a family-run business and their traditional Cantonese offerings.

I disagree with previous reviewers points about service friendliness. This is a small family owned and ran business they don’t necessarily have the time to wait on you and make you happy when they are very busy! They were very polite to my wife and I, advising dishes, quick service and even pointing out a dragon dance parade going by outside. Honestly the food is very good, this is typical canton dishes, very farm from the spicy mainland dishes you may come across. Their bbq is very traditional and tasty, I’d also recommend the Ho Fun. You can also just purchase a crispy duck, take it home and have duck pancakes. Don’t miss this place, give it a try with an open mind and give them a chance to show you a family run business!

Passed by my usual spot - jade harbor across the street and they weren’t open yet. Popped in here and had an absolutely delicious meal. The fried rice was super fresh, spring rolls so hot and crunchy ! Wonton noodle soup wasn’t a best effort , the broth was very light and flavorless. The duck skin was soggy and a bit chewy. Don’t go here for that, but def try the rest. It was super tasty 🙌🏼

very busy authentic southern chinese restaurant. I got roasted duck on rice, it was not tremendous but just great. I like the crowded atmosphere and authentic foods here. and price is not too high!

One of the most original Cantonese restaurants in Chinatown. I’ve always loved their Wonton/Roasted Duck Noodles. It’s amazing how a warm bowl of noodles can help you start the day. You can also order different kinds of meat over rice as well (roasted duck&pork belly over rice, etc). It’s about $12.50 and the portion is enormous and there’s also a soup come along. Parking is kinda tricky but if you park across the street next to the fire department, you should be able to discover Chinatown without any worries. Will always be my favorite spot to have noodles!

Me and my husband visited this wonderful establishment last night. My husband is not very deep into Asian/Cantonese cuisine as I. So he ordered out of familiarity. He had the seafood fried rice ( minus the squid lol), fried chicken wing flats and water. I ordered a crispy shrimp wonton appetizer, the best anywhere ever! , hot and sour soup, pan fried noodles with gravy and bean sprouts, Cantonese roast duck and soda. The Best plate I've had in ages! Fresh, hot, authentic. I couldn't ask for more. Will be returning very soon!
