About Cai

Cai is a Chinese restaurant situated on the 2nd floor of Chinatown Square, located at 2100 S Archer Ave, Chicago, IL 60616, USA. They can be contacted at (312) 326-6888 or +1 312-326-6888.

As a Chinese restaurant specializing in Cantonese cuisine, Cai is a popular choice for both dim sum and dinner. According to customer reviews, many patrons visit specifically for their dim sum offerings. One recent experience involved a family celebration dinner where several typical Cantonese dishes were ordered, and the reviewer noted that everything they ordered was good.

The estimated price range is around $30-$50 per person, although one group of eight spent $430 due to ordering a significant amount of food. Most of the dishes, including the roasted duck, dumplings, and squid, were reported to be tasty. However, one customer found the Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) to be too salty.

Cai offers a service of packing leftover food into boxes for takeaway, which was appreciated by one group who enjoyed the remaining food for breakfast the next day, effectively getting two meals for their total cost. However, this same group experienced a minor inconvenience as they were not provided with chopsticks and dipping sauce for their takeaway. It is advisable for customers taking away food to specifically request these items.

Located within Chinatown Square, Cai likely offers a vibrant and authentic environment typical of restaurants in the area. The service includes both dine-in and takeaway options. While no specific promotional information was mentioned in the provided reviews, the restaurant is clearly a destination for those seeking Cantonese flavors and dim sum in Chicago's Chinatown.

Located on the 2nd floor in Chinatown square. Mostly we come for dimsum, however we came for dinner to celebrate a special occasion with family. We ordered many typical Cantonese style dishes. Everything was good for the dishes we ordered.

It's maybe $30-$50/per person. But I accidentally ordered too much, so it was $430 for 8 of us. Most of the food/dimsum I ordered were tasty. We like the roasted duck, dumplings, squid,.... But the Xiaolongbao was disappointed. It was too salty. I accidentally ordered too much so the staff packed the remainder into boxes to take home. However, when we got back to the hotel, we discovered that they did not give us chopsticks and dipping sauce. If you are in the same situation as us, you should tell them you want more dipping sauce and chopsticks. I think it wasn't too expensive because we packed the remaining food and brought it back to the hotel for breakfast the next day. So the 8 of us got 2 meals for $430.

I was given a menu for regular prices for family gathering dinner . When I ordered from the menu and was told those are extra dishes. When I saw the big dishes, I know I gotta pay extra double prices from the menu for those portions I shouldn’t order. I didn’t expect I order every dish with double portion. Just a kind reminder if you’re tourists or seldom dine in this restaurant, always ask the price for “extra” big dish and make sure the price is same portion as the menu you see. Actually I’m resident of Chicago, always eating in Chinatown’s restaurants. My first experience ever.

Food was okay and price is on the expensive side. Service is okay but not great, they do offer parking reimbursement up to 3 hours if you dine here.

Pretty good dim sum. Lacked a few choices, congee is too runny, quantity is less compared to other dim sum places in the area. Minghin is better in terms of service, quantity, quality imo
