About Cafe New Honolulu

Located in the heart of San Francisco's vibrant Chinatown at 888 Stockton St, Cafe New Honolulu offers a dining experience within the Chinese Restaurant category. Based on the limited but positive customer reviews available, this establishment appears to be a noteworthy stop for those exploring the area and seeking a taste of local Chinese cuisine. This introduction aims to provide a detailed overview of the environment, services, and features of Cafe New Honolulu as described by the feedback received from its patrons.

Regarding the environment of Cafe New Honolulu, the provided reviews offer limited insights into the restaurant's ambiance or decor. One reviewer mentioned trying the restaurant while on a tour of San Francisco, suggesting a convenient location for tourists and locals alike exploring Chinatown. The lack of specific comments about the interior might imply a casual and functional setting, typical of many eateries in busy urban areas focused on providing good food efficiently. However, without more detailed descriptions, it is difficult to paint a comprehensive picture of the restaurant's atmosphere. Potential customers might expect a bustling environment given its location in a popular area like Chinatown.

The service at Cafe New Honolulu is partially highlighted through the mention of "complimentary tea" which was described as "fragrant and good." Offering complimentary tea is a common and welcoming practice in many Chinese restaurants, and the positive feedback on its quality suggests a thoughtful touch in their service. Beyond this, the reviews do not explicitly comment on the speed, attentiveness, or friendliness of the staff. The positive overall experiences suggest that the service was likely adequate and contributed to an enjoyable meal, but specific details are not available.

The features of Cafe New Honolulu, based on the customer reviews, primarily revolve around its food offerings, particularly its fried rice dishes. One reviewer highly praised the "Sweet Fried Rice," noting its "GREAT" texture and stickiness. This positive feedback indicates that Cafe New Honolulu excels in preparing fried rice, and the specific mention of the "sweet" variety suggests a potentially unique or noteworthy dish on their menu. Sweet fried rice is not a standard offering in all Chinese restaurants, so this could be a signature item that attracts customers.

Another fried rice dish that received positive mention is the "Fried Rice with salted fish and chicken," which one reviewer described as their "favorite" part of an enjoyable meal. This classic Cantonese-style fried rice is known for its savory and umami flavors derived from the salted fish, combined with the protein of the chicken. The fact that it was a favorite dish for a patron suggests that Cafe New Honolulu prepares this traditional dish well and that it is a recommended item for those familiar with or curious about this flavor profile.

In contrast to the positive feedback on the fried rice, one reviewer had a less favorable experience with the "Fish Balls." While they acknowledged that the fish balls were "made correctly" and that "others love it," it was not to their personal taste. However, they did mention liking the sauce that accompanied the fish balls. This indicates that Cafe New Honolulu offers a variety of dishes, and while some may be highly praised, individual preferences can vary. The reviewer's willingness to return and try other dishes suggests that their overall impression of the restaurant was still positive, despite not enjoying the fish balls.

The fact that both reviewers had enjoyable meals after exploring San Francisco Chinatown suggests that Cafe New Honolulu is a convenient and satisfying dining option for visitors and locals in the area. Its location on Stockton Street, a main thoroughfare in Chinatown, likely makes it easily accessible. The positive comments on specific dishes, particularly the fried rice variations, highlight the restaurant's strengths in these areas.

There is no specific promotional information mentioned in the reviews. However, the positive word-of-mouth regarding the quality of the fried rice dishes and the enjoyable overall experience can be seen as a form of implicit promotion. The willingness of one reviewer to return and try other dishes, despite not liking one particular item, speaks to a positive overall impression of the restaurant's potential.

For local users in San Francisco looking for a Chinese Restaurant in Chinatown, Cafe New Honolulu at 888 Stockton St appears to be a solid option, particularly if you enjoy fried rice. The "Sweet Fried Rice" and the "Fried Rice with salted fish and chicken" have both received positive feedback. While the experience with the fish balls was subjective, the reviewer's intent to return suggests that the restaurant offers other appealing dishes worth exploring. The complimentary tea is also a nice touch that adds to the dining experience.

If you are in Chinatown and looking for a place to enjoy a satisfying meal, especially if you are a fan of well-prepared and flavorful fried rice, Cafe New Honolulu seems like a place to consider. The positive reviews highlight the quality of these dishes, and the convenient location on Stockton Street makes it easily accessible. While information on other menu items and the overall ambiance is limited, the positive experiences shared by patrons suggest a worthwhile culinary stop in this historic neighborhood.

In conclusion, Cafe New Honolulu is a Chinese Restaurant in San Francisco's Chinatown that has received positive feedback for its fried rice dishes, including the "Sweet Fried Rice" and the "Fried Rice with salted fish and chicken." The complimentary tea is also a noted positive aspect of their service. While individual preferences for other dishes like the fish balls may vary, the overall impression from the available reviews suggests that Cafe New Honolulu offers an enjoyable dining experience and is a place where patrons are willing to return to try more of their menu.

During a tour of San Fran, I walked through Chinatown and gave Cafe New Honolulu a try. Ordered the Sweet Fried Rice and Fish Balls. The rice was GREAT (loved the texture and stickiness). The fish balls did nothing for me - lived the sauce, but didn't enjoy the fish (it was made correctly, and I'm sure others love it, but it wasn't for me). However, I would go back and try another dish or two.

Had lunch here today and the food is very decent and the prices are reasonable comparing to today’s standard on prices. Ordered three dishes and the food is quite authentic. Overall good value for the price and taste.

Café New Honolulu imhv is a rising star in Chinatown relatively new yet should be regarded one of the most affordable, least expensive (considering both quality and quantity not necessary ambiente or service) and decent place with a variety of menu. In a nutshell, it is conveniently located on Stockton Street between Clay and Sacramento streets near Muni buses (8, 30, 30s, 45 and 1) and new LRV T line. My favorite dish is its Cantonese beef brisket 牛腩 wonton soup which imhv is the BEST (replacing ABC Restaurant used to be located on Jackson Street) in The City: deliciously prepared, i.e., real quality beef brisket牛腩, and insanely inexpensive: $8 bucks! (Common let's be honest tell me who can beat the Chinatown price? No one! LOL) Singaporean curry rice noodles are very good also as well as beef chow fun and fish clay pot. However, the service as agreed by other reviewers would be rather slow because there’s only “one man army” who is a nice young lady who tries her best to wait a total of twenty-five tables of guests from hosting, ordering, cashiering and cleaning. Personally, I always help her to clean up after I eat as I would be considered a regular as I visit there at least once a week. Best of luck to New Honolulu!
