About Cafe Asia

Cafe Asia is a Chinese restaurant located at 860 S Franklin St in Holbrook, Massachusetts, serving the local community with a variety of Asian cuisine. For those in the Holbrook area seeking a Chinese dining experience, Cafe Asia has garnered some recent attention in online reviews, presenting a somewhat contrasting set of opinions that potential customers may find informative.

One long-time patron of Cafe Asia shared a particularly positive recent experience, stating that the restaurant has become "SO much better" to the point where they felt compelled to write a review. This suggests that Cafe Asia may have undergone positive changes in its food quality or service. This reviewer specifically praised the "awesome" portion sizes and noted that the food was consistently "hot and fresh." They also advised readers not to be swayed by "the very few bad reviews," implying that the majority of experiences might be positive and dismissing negative feedback as potentially unreasonable.

In contrast, another customer reported a significant issue involving overcharging and a perceived attempt to take extra money. This reviewer stated that they ordered two dinner plates from a menu directly attached to the counter, each priced at "like 11 dollars and change." However, the total came to "37 something," prompting the customer to inquire about the discrepancy. They were told that the prices had changed. After paying with a $50 bill, the reviewer received only $2 and change back, indicating a missing $10 in change. When questioned, the server allegedly feigned a lack of understanding. However, upon the customer speaking to her in Mandarin, the missing $10 was immediately returned. This experience, while ultimately resolved, left the reviewer with the impression that the establishment was "pretty shady," despite acknowledging that the food itself was "actually pretty good." This incident raises a serious concern about the integrity of transactions at Cafe Asia.

Considering these two recent reviews, we can observe a dichotomy in the feedback. On one hand, a long-term customer has noticed and appreciated significant recent improvements in the restaurant, particularly regarding portion sizes and the freshness of the food. This positive perspective suggests that Cafe Asia may be on an upward trend in terms of culinary quality and value. On the other hand, a concerning incident involving a potential overcharge and difficulty in resolving a change issue casts a shadow over the overall customer experience and raises questions about the transparency of their pricing and payment processes.

Neither of the provided reviews offers much insight into the environment or ambiance of Cafe Asia. There are no descriptions of the restaurant's décor, cleanliness, or overall atmosphere. Similarly, details about the services offered are limited. One reviewer mentioned ordering dinner plates, implying that dine-in or takeout service is available. The other reviewer also picked up their order, further suggesting takeout as an option. However, there is no explicit mention of delivery services or the general efficiency of their service beyond the payment issue.

Likewise, the reviews do not highlight any specific features of Cafe Asia that might set it apart from other Chinese restaurants in the area, beyond the recently improved food quality and generous portions mentioned by one reviewer. There is no information about any unique menu items, cooking styles, or specialties. Additionally, there is no mention of any promotional offers, discounts, or loyalty programs that Cafe Asia might be running.

In conclusion, Cafe Asia in Holbrook, MA, appears to be a Chinese restaurant that has recently shown significant improvements in its food, offering generous portions of hot and fresh dishes, according to one long-time customer. However, a serious incident involving a potential overcharge and questionable handling of change by a staff member raises a significant red flag regarding the trustworthiness of transactions. While the food itself may be good, potential customers should be aware of this reported issue and perhaps exercise caution when paying. The lack of information about the restaurant's environment, full range of services, and any unique features makes it challenging to form a comprehensive picture. Local users considering Cafe Asia should weigh the positive feedback about the food against the concerning report of a dishonest transaction when making their decision.

I've been coming here for years and it's recently been SO much better to the point I had to review. Their portions are awesome, food is hot and fresh. Don't go by the very few bad reviews... can't make all the Karen's happy.

First of all, the food was actually pretty good. My main issue is that they overcharge and actually try to steal money from you. I got 2 dinner plates from the menu directly attached to the counter which each said they were like 11 dollars and change each. Total came to 37 something, and I asked why. The lady said the prices changed, I said fine whatever and handed her a 50. She handed me 2 dollars and change back and tried to pocket the extra 10. When I said something she claimed she couldn't understand. I'm white but I speak mandarin decently well, so I told her in mandarin that I was missing a 10 and she suddenly gave it to me. The food was good but the place is pretty shady.

Ordered pu pu platter for one. As you can see it looks like a great deal but the restaurant instead gives you something else lol received 1/2 egg rolls, 3/6 chicken fingers, 2/4 chicken wings, 0/2 shrimp, 1/2 beef teriyaki LOL THEN when i called to notify the restaurant they want to tell me i ordered wrong that the pupu platter doesn’t come with all of that. Talk about bait and switch. So words of advice don’t order online, and if they get your order wrong just take the loss. They won’t honor their mistake. I’ve been going here for over 6+ years and never would have thought they treat customers like that.

First time ordering from here, and my advice to the owners are, change your oil. My food was cooked in old oil. I had sesame chicken and Peking ravioli

I am not sure if this place is under new management because the food was different the last 2 times we went there. I give them a 4 for the benefit of the doubt
