About BOS' SiChuan Taste一碟川菜馆
Located at 204 Harvard Ave in Allston, Boston, BOS' SiChuan Taste一碟川菜馆 offers a casual and modern take on Sichuan cuisine. While perhaps not as bustling as it once was, this Chinese restaurant is still considered by some to surpass many other Sichuan spots in the city, providing a clean dining space and reliable service.
Highly recommended dishes include the Braised pork elbow, described as a warm and heartier version of a garlic pork appetizer. It features a slightly fattier cut balanced perfectly by a sweet-spicy kick from chili flakes served on the side. The Beef brisket noodles are also a favorite, featuring a light yet savory shoyu-style broth, tender brisket, and perfectly al dente noodles, making for a simple, comforting, and well-executed dish.
The restaurant also offers lunch specials, which have been described as decent but with some minor quirks. One special, the potato grilled pork ribs donburi, features flavorful and well-seasoned ribs paired with braised vegetables, though the bone cuts might be a bit awkward. Another, advertised as "halibut rice," was found to contain braised pork belly in a soy-BBQ sauce instead of fish, but was still noted as tasty over rice.
The prices at BOS' SiChuan Taste are not the most budget-friendly, but the quality of certain dishes, like the braised pork elbow, makes it a place some would return to occasionally. The service is reported to be really good, and a notable feature is the complimentary offering of hot sweetened soy milk, which complements the spicy Sichuan dishes well.
Other dishes receiving positive mentions include the sweet duck, noted for its crispy skin, and the fresh and delicious lotus roots and celtuce. It is recommended to make reservations in advance, especially on weekends, as the restaurant tends to get quite busy during those times.
In summary, BOS' SiChuan Taste一碟川菜馆 provides a modern and clean environment to enjoy flavorful Sichuan cuisine. While some dishes might have minor quirks or higher prices, standouts like the braised pork elbow and beef brisket noodles, along with good service and complimentary drinks, make it a noteworthy dining option in Allston.

Casual modern Sichuan fare with underrated hits. Stopped by a couple times for quick lunches, and while they’re not as busy as it once was (especially with Mountain House around the corner), the food here still beats most Sichuan spots I’ve been in the city. Clean space, solid service, and no misses. My favorites so far were the Braised pork elbow and the Beef brisket noodles. The pork elbow was like a warm, heartier version of the garlic pork appetizer—slightly fattier, but the chili flakes on the side added a sweet-spicy kick that balanced it perfectly. As for the noodles, the shoyu-style broth was light yet savory, with tender brisket and perfectly al dente noodles. Simple, comforting, and well-executed. I also tried two lunch specials, both decent but with minor quirks. The potato grilled pork ribs donburi had well-seasoned ribs paired with braised vegetables—flavorful, though the bone cuts were a bit awkward (watch out for sharp edges). The "halibut rice" was misleading—no fish, just braised pork belly in a soy-BBQ sauce. Still tasty over rice. The prices here aren’t exactly budget-friendly, but I would occasionally come back for that braised pork elbow.
The service is really good. They had option of hot sweetened soy milk as complimentary drinks, which goes well with the spicy dishes. The sweet duck was crispy on the skin, the lotus roots and celtuce are fresh and delicious. Would recommend reserve in advance, as it gets quite busy during the weekend.
This is my husband’s favorite Sichuan restaurant in the Allston area, and we tried some new dishes this time. The garlic pork slices were impressive, with a slightly chewy texture and a flavorful, rich chili sauce. However, the boiled fish was a bit disappointing—the fish seemed to be frozen, affecting the texture and taste, despite the thoughtful seasoning. Special mention goes to the excellent service. The waitress patiently helped us move to a warmer table and kept refilling our water and soy milk. Overall, the experience was a mix of good flavors and warm hospitality.
Foood tasted decent but portion sizes are very very misleading. Do not trust their BOGO offering on uber eats. It’s false advertising. Each portion is just 1/2 portion. So it’s not really bogo. We were able to fit BOTH portions into one container and still close the lid
Most authentic Sichuan food in Boston! BBQ fish highly recommended! The spicy level is high, order low spicy if you’re new to Sichuan food.
