About Bonbon Cafe
Welcome to Bonbon Cafe, a Chinese restaurant located at 6499 Carlisle Pike #300 in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania (PA 17050), USA. As a part of the Chinese Restaurant category, Bonbon Cafe offers a delightful dining experience with a focus on delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere. You can contact Bonbon Cafe by phone at (717) 795-4379 or via mobile at +1 717-795-4379 for placing orders or making inquiries about their services.
A standout feature of Bonbon Cafe, according to customer reviews, is its appeal to vegetarians. The restaurant is described as "pretty vegetarian friendly," with the notable option of adding tofu to "just about any meal" as far as one reviewer could tell. This flexibility in accommodating vegetarian diets makes Bonbon Cafe a potentially excellent choice for those who prefer plant-based options or are dining with vegetarian companions. The willingness to adapt dishes to include tofu suggests a commitment to catering to a diverse range of dietary preferences.
Beyond its vegetarian offerings, Bonbon Cafe is also praised for the overall quality of its food. Customers have expressed their love for the place, with one stating that the food is "very good." This indicates that regardless of dietary preferences, patrons can expect tasty and well-prepared meals at Bonbon Cafe. The fact that a customer who initially used the cafe for quick work pickups has become a regular with their boyfriend after actually dining there speaks volumes about the positive impression the food and overall experience have made.
The environment of Bonbon Cafe is another aspect that has received positive feedback. One reviewer described the inside as "super cute," noting the presence of various seating options, including tables, booth-style seating, and high tops. This variety in seating can cater to different preferences and group sizes, making the space versatile and comfortable. Adding to the charm is the presence of games on a shelf near the entrance, suggesting a potentially fun and engaging atmosphere, especially for those who might have to wait or are looking for a bit of entertainment during their visit.
The service at Bonbon Cafe has been lauded as "incredible." One customer specifically mentioned receiving "awesome table service" even though there is a self-serve drink refill area. The staff took the initiative to refill drinks for them, indicating a high level of attentiveness and care. Such exceptional service can significantly enhance the dining experience, making customers feel valued and well-cared for.
In terms of specific dishes, Bonbon Cafe seems to have some standouts. The soup dumplings (pork) were described as "incredible," receiving a perfect 10/10 rating. The reviewer highlighted their flavor and the fact that they were served in a steamer dish, which kept them hot. The accompanying sweet soy dumpling sauce was also praised for its flavor. If you enjoy soup dumplings, Bonbon Cafe appears to be a must-try.
Another highly recommended dish is the sesame chicken. One customer was thoroughly impressed, describing it as "piping hot yet super crispy" and coated in a "delicious sauce." This dish was their favorite, indicating a well-executed balance of temperature, texture, and flavor. For those who enjoy classic sesame chicken, Bonbon Cafe's version seems to be a standout.
The shrimp lo mein also received positive feedback, being described as "pretty good." While not as enthusiastically reviewed as the soup dumplings or sesame chicken, "pretty good" suggests a satisfying and well-prepared noodle dish.
Other dishes sampled include the bbq pork bun, which was rated as "good," and the crab rangoons, which were considered "okay." It's worth noting that sweet and sour sauce for the crab rangoons costs extra, which is something to be aware of if you prefer this accompaniment.
One dish that received a less favorable review was the pho. The customer found the broth to be "not flavorful at all" and noted the availability of sriracha but not hoisin sauce for customization. While the pho contained a "good amount of meat," the reviewer stated they would not order it again. If you are a pho enthusiast, this feedback suggests that it might not be Bonbon Cafe's strongest offering.
The ordering process at Bonbon Cafe seems to be somewhat unique. Upon entering, customers might be unsure whether to sit at a table or order at the tablets located upfront. One reviewer mentioned that they ended up ordering at the tablets and then taking an order number to a table. This suggests a hybrid service model where initial orders are placed at a designated area, but table service is provided afterward, as evidenced by the drink refills. This system might be efficient, especially during busy periods.
The timing of the visit can also affect the dining experience. One reviewer visited after the lunch rush around 2:45 pm and noted that the inside was "pretty dead" except for a constant stream of to-go orders. This indicates that Bonbon Cafe is likely popular for takeout, and visiting during off-peak hours might result in a quieter dine-in experience.
Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. However, given the positive feedback on food quality and reasonable prices, Bonbon Cafe might offer good value. To inquire about any lunch specials, combo deals, or other promotions, it is recommended to contact them directly.
In conclusion, Bonbon Cafe in Mechanicsburg, PA, offers a delightful dining experience with delicious and vegetarian-friendly Chinese cuisine. Their soup dumplings and sesame chicken are highly recommended, and the interior is described as cute with a fun touch of games. The service is exceptional, with attentive staff providing table service. While the pho received less favorable feedback, the overall quality of the food is praised. Bonbon Cafe appears to be a great spot for both dine-in and takeout, offering a welcoming atmosphere and tasty dishes to a diverse clientele. For more information about their menu, services (including takeout and potential delivery options), and any current promotions, please contact Bonbon Cafe directly at (717) 795-4379 or +1 717-795-4379.

I used to just pick up something for work, but I recently actually got food from here & returned today. My boyfriend & I really love this place, the food is very good & pretty vegetarian friendly. Tofu can be added to just about any meal as far as I've seen. We will definitely be returning customers. Photos include said boyfriend for size
This was such a fun find while we were out here at the car dealerships! The inside is super cute with tables, booth style seating, and high tops. There's even games on a shelf when you walk in. We've never been, so we weren't sure whether to sit at a table or to order at the tablets up front first. We ended up ordering at the tablets and taking an order number to a table. We went after the lunch rush around 2:45 pm so it was pretty dead inside except for constant to go orders. We ordered a ton of food just to see what we like here! We got a bbq pork bun, soup dumplings (pork), and crab rangoons for an appetizer. The soup dumplings and the sweet soy dumpling sauce they came with were incredible. 10/10, so flavorful, and they were served in a steamer dish so they stayed hot. The pork bun was good and the rangoons were okay, but you have to pay extra for sweet and sour sauce for them. I could live withou We got the pho, shrimp lo mein, and sesame chicken with white rice for entrees. The sesame chicken blew us away. It was piping hot yet super crispy in a delicious sauce. That was my favorite dish. The lo mein was also pretty good! The pho was my least favorite. The broth wasn't flavorful at all and there was sriracha available to add but not hoisin. I will say it had a good amount of meat in it, but I wouldn't order it again. Service was incredible! We were given awesome table service even though there's a little walk up area to refill drinks - it was done for us! We will be back for the soup dumplings and more chicken dishes for sure.
So I always look at the reviews out of curiosity, and I'm not sure why it's a 4.4. The service is really good, it's a kiosk so ordering is easy food is prepared quickly, always hot. Delicious, as well so far I've only had the orange chicken & today added an egg roll. I would argue it's some of the best Chinese I've had in a very long time. There is only 1 place I like better on NYC. They are a 5 in my book. I am looking forward to exploring the menu some more. I live in lancaster & travel to the area a few days ago week. This is a welcome stop. Zero complaints.
Bonbon is our go-to for dine in and take out! I love how many vegetarian options are offered here. Tofu is an option for almost every entre - pic of the orange tofu below! The food is always very fresh to order and is just delicious.
It's been a few year and it was nice to be back to this cute little Asian fusion place. I was happy to see MANY new items on the menu. Can't try them all on this trip, but here's what I sampled: Cheese Steak Rolls $5.95 . Comes with 2 rolls. Don't let the picture fool you. I was very disappointed with the size. They are like those skinny spring rolls (vs fat egg rolls) except they put meat and a little bit of cheese in them. Super hot and crispy. Taste isn't bad. But really should be bigger, or serve with quantity of 3. Not a fan here. Spicy Dry Noodle $6.95. Another new item but a dish I'm very familiar with. Well, I wasn't disappointed. Sesame paste with garlic and scallion. Not spicy, but I am not sure it is supposed to be spicy except for the name sake. Don't be fooled by its simpleness; both the taste and the texture of the pasta are super addicting. Highly recommend. Karaage Chicken $7.25. This was the dish that introduced me to Bonbon Cafe 7 years ago. I can't believe the price is still so affordable after all these years. Huge plate of boneless Japanese fried chicken thigh meat. Very good except the meat was a bit too tough. Oh, and they took out the signature bonito flakes which would make this dish come alive. Overall, it's still got the X factor, offering many dishes that are not so easy to get in this area, all under one roof. PS. They’ve upped their service - you don’t have to bus your plates any more. So tip accordingly!!
