About Boiling Beijing
Boiling Beijing, located at 649 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA, stands as a prominent Chinese restaurant in the local culinary scene, specializing in authentic Northern Chinese cuisine with a particular emphasis on its acclaimed Peking duck. For local users seeking a genuine taste of Beijing, this establishment offers a dining experience centered around traditional flavors and signature dishes.
The undisputed star of Boiling Beijing's menu, according to numerous patrons, is their Peking Roast Duck. This dish has garnered high praise, with reviewers consistently highlighting its crispy and flavorful skin, tender meat, and generous fatty layers. One enthusiastic customer even declared it the best Peking duck they have encountered in California and possibly the entire Bay Area, underscoring its exceptional quality and authenticity. The preparation of the duck includes thin wrappers, accompanied by traditional condiments such as haw jelly for a touch of sweetness, along with cucumber and green onion to complement the rich flavors. Notably, Boiling Beijing also serves sugar for dipping the crispy duck skin, a practice commonly seen in Beijing, further authenticating the dining experience for those familiar with this culinary tradition.
Beyond their renowned Peking duck, Boiling Beijing offers other dishes that have resonated positively with diners. The beef and sizzling lamb dish has been specifically mentioned as a must-try, suggesting a robust and flavorful preparation that leaves a lasting impression. This indicates a strength in their savory meat offerings, providing customers with more options to explore beyond their signature duck.
However, not all dishes have received universal acclaim. One reviewer noted that the hand-cut noodles were a bit too oily for their preference, suggesting that this particular dish might not appeal to everyone. This honest feedback provides potential diners with a balanced perspective on the menu, highlighting that while certain items are exceptional, others might have nuances that cater to individual tastes.
In terms of the dining environment, one customer commented that the ambiance "could be nicer" but acknowledged that "it’s what it is." This suggests that while the focus might be more on the authenticity and quality of the food, the decor or atmosphere might be more functional than elaborate. Local users prioritizing authentic flavors over a highly stylized setting might find this acceptable.
The service at Boiling Beijing appears to be efficient, focusing on delivering the core culinary experience. A crucial piece of advice from a satisfied customer is the necessity of making a reservation if you intend to order their Peking duck. This "pro-tip" indicates the popularity of this signature dish and suggests that it might have limited availability or require advance preparation. Therefore, local users planning to indulge in their acclaimed Peking duck should definitely heed this advice to avoid disappointment.
One constructive suggestion from a reviewer pertains to the accompaniments served with the large Peking duck. The customer noted that the provided sauces and condiments tend to run out quickly and expressed uncertainty about the availability of refills. For those ordering the whole duck, it might be prudent to inquire about the refill policy for sauces and condiments when placing the order to ensure a satisfying and well-accompanied meal.
For local users in San Bruno and the surrounding areas, Boiling Beijing presents a unique opportunity to savor arguably the best Peking duck in the Bay Area, alongside other authentic Northern Chinese specialties. The emphasis on traditional flavors and dishes like the sizzling lamb and potentially other beef preparations makes it a compelling destination for those seeking a genuine taste of this region's cuisine. While the ambiance might be understated, the focus on culinary authenticity, particularly the celebrated Peking duck, appears to be the primary draw.
In summary, Boiling Beijing is a Chinese restaurant in San Bruno that has garnered significant praise for its Peking Roast Duck, described as crispy, flavorful, and the best in the area. The menu also features other noteworthy dishes like the beef and sizzling lamb. While one reviewer found the hand-cut noodles oily and another suggested improvements to the ambiance, the overall sentiment, especially regarding the Peking duck, is overwhelmingly positive. Local users are strongly advised to make reservations if they wish to try the duck and perhaps inquire about sauce refills when ordering. For an authentic Northern Chinese culinary experience centered around exceptional Peking duck, Boiling Beijing is a noteworthy establishment to consider.

Customer Reviews
Duck is delicious, best Peking duck I’ve had in California. Wrappers are thin (don’t accidentally eat the paper), haw jelly for sweetness, cucumber and green onion. They also have sugar for dipping the duck skin - something I’ve only seen in Beijing. Would get the beef and sizzling lamb dish again for sure. Hand cut noodles were a little oily for my taste, would probably skip next time. Ambience could be nicer but it’s what it is.
Their Peking Roast Duck is an absolute must-try—crispy, flavorful, fatty and easily the best in the Bay Area. If you’re a fan of authentic Peking duck, this spot delivers. Pro-tip: you must make a reservation if you want to try their duck. One suggestion: more sauces and condiments should be served with the large Peking duck, as they tend to run out quickly. It’s unclear whether refills are available, so it might be worth asking when you order.
I’ve dined in and ordered weekend breakfast. All the dishes were tasty with reasonable price. I especially impressed by the fried shrimp, it has a great flavor and beautifully appearance. I kind of regret taking it back home instead of having it right away. I heard this place is famous for the Peking duck l, though I don’t have a chance to try it. Definitely will come again.
The Beijing roast duck was great. It was better than the Beijing roast duck I had in London. I would say it’s best one I’ve had in the Bay. I also like how thin the wrappers were and the duck bone soup it came with was really delicious as well. You have to reserve it in advance. We also ordered a few more things. The spicy cold beef combination was luckily not too spicy for me and had a nice, sweet yet savory flavor. I also enjoyed the Beijing style sweet cake more than I expected. It was the perfect amount of chewiness with a crispy outside. Overall I really like this restaurant’s food. Parking: There is a lot next to the Boiling Beijing restaurant that you can park. 2 hour parking limit.
Got to try this place for the first time today after craving Chinese food! Parking was really easy and there were plenty of seats inside. Tables are clean and service was super fast. The owner was very friendly and suggested a lot of special Beijing-style dishes. We ordered: -spicy cold beef combo appetizer -black pepper angus beef with golden garlic -Beijing style crispy shrimp -griddle cooked cabbage with pork I have to say that every single dish was a 5/5 for me. The angus beef was tender and the garlic pieces paired so well with the meat. The crispy shrimp was seriously one of the best shrimp dishes I have ever had in my life. You eat the entire shell with the shrimp and it’s so crispy and delicious! The cabbage had excellent wok flavor and stayed hot since they put it on a little stove. The beef appetizer came with a super large portion and was perfectly seasoned. I will definitely be back here and it is now one of my favorite Chinese spots in the bay! They have a Peking Duck dish that I did not know took an hour to prepare (they make it to order), so I will definitely be calling ahead next time! :) Awesome spot!
