About Bo’s Kitchen KC

Welcome to Bo’s Kitchen KC, a contemporary Chinese restaurant located at 108 E 5th St in Kansas City, Missouri. As a fresh addition to the local Chinese Restaurant scene, Bo’s Kitchen KC offers a modern take on classic Chinese cuisine in a newly updated and clean environment. Based on recent customer reviews, this establishment provides a streamlined dining experience with a focus on efficient service and quality ingredients, making it a potentially attractive option for local users seeking a solid Chinese meal.

Upon entering Bo’s Kitchen KC, customers are immediately greeted by the visible kitchen and register area, indicating a transparent and efficient operational setup. The overall ambiance is described as very clean, contributing to a pleasant and comfortable dining experience. To the right of the entrance, patrons will find a "nice little dining area," offering a space to enjoy their meals on-site. The recent updates to the restaurant's look and feel have been positively received, suggesting a modern and inviting atmosphere for diners.

One of the standout features of Bo’s Kitchen KC, according to customer feedback, is the speed of service. Food is reported to be "prepared very quickly," making it a convenient option for those looking for a fast yet satisfying meal. The restaurant primarily serves its dishes in bowls, which have been described as "perfectly sized" by at least one customer, suggesting a well-thought-out portioning strategy.

The menu at Bo’s Kitchen KC, while described as "limited," appears to focus on delivering high-quality versions of popular Chinese dishes. Among the items praised are the sesame chicken and ginger chicken, both of which were sampled by a satisfied customer. The sesame chicken, in particular, received high accolades for featuring "huge chunks of all white meat" with a minimal amount of breading, a notable departure from the often heavily breaded dark meat found in many other Chinese restaurants. This focus on quality ingredients and preparation is a significant draw for discerning customers.

Another dish that has garnered positive attention is the sweet and sour chicken. Customers have lauded the "quite tasty" sauce and the "super crunchy" texture of the chicken. The breading is described as a panko-style, offering a different and appealing crispness compared to the typical smooth breading. However, one customer pointed out a discrepancy between the menu picture, which included bell peppers, and the actual dish served, which did not. The staff acknowledged this and indicated that the menu picture needed updating, so local users should be aware that certain visual representations may not be entirely accurate.

In addition to the chicken dishes, the crab rangoons at Bo’s Kitchen KC have also been positively reviewed. One customer who tried them alongside the sesame and ginger chicken found them to be a worthwhile addition to their meal. This suggests that the restaurant offers a range of appetizers and main courses that are generally well-received for their taste and quality.

The service at Bo’s Kitchen KC is generally described as "friendly" by customers. However, one reviewer noted an instance where their spouse's meal was brought out significantly earlier than their own, resulting in a five-minute wait. While this customer acknowledged that meals should ideally arrive together, they still considered their overall experience to be good, indicating that this might have been an isolated incident.

The ordering process at Bo’s Kitchen KC involves using a kiosk, which some customers may find convenient and efficient. However, one reviewer expressed discomfort with having to enter their phone number at the kiosk, citing privacy concerns. This is a point for local users to consider based on their personal preferences regarding data sharing.

Another aspect of the customer experience that drew mixed reactions was the tipping prompt at the payment kiosk. The system defaults to a recommended 20% tip, displayed prominently while the counter staff can observe the customer’s choice. The reviewer felt that tipping was not warranted in this type of establishment where customers place their own orders, get their own drinks, and essentially only have their food brought a short distance to their table. This highlights a growing debate about tipping practices in various food service environments and is something local users may have their own opinions on.

Despite these minor concerns, the overall sentiment from the reviewed customers is positive, with both expressing a willingness to return to Bo’s Kitchen KC. The reasonable pricing for the food has also been noted as a significant advantage, especially given the quality and portion sizes (though one older review mentioned good portion sizes, so consistency is something to be aware of). The limited menu, while potentially restrictive for some, was appreciated by one customer for simplifying the ordering process and reducing decision fatigue.

Located at 108 E 5th St, Kansas City, MO 64106, USA, Bo’s Kitchen KC is situated in a potentially accessible area for many local residents and visitors. The fact that it is seen as "nice to have a solid chinese restaurant in the market again" suggests that it fills a need in the Kansas City culinary landscape.

In conclusion, Bo’s Kitchen KC offers a modern and clean environment for enjoying Chinese cuisine in Kansas City, MO. The restaurant is praised for its quick service, quality ingredients (particularly the all-white meat sesame chicken), tasty dishes like the sweet and sour chicken and crab rangoons, and reasonable prices. While the ordering kiosk and tipping prompts may be points of consideration for some customers, the overall positive feedback indicates that Bo’s Kitchen KC is a promising option for local users seeking a reliable and enjoyable Chinese dining experience. The limited menu may appeal to those who prefer a focused selection of well-executed dishes. Local users are encouraged to visit Bo’s Kitchen KC to experience their updated concept and flavorful offerings firsthand.

Visited Bo's this weekend and the updated look and feel of the concept is great. Going in you're greeted with the kitchen and registers. The space is very clean and has a nice little dining area on the right side of the building. Food was prepared very quickly. The bowls are actually pretty perfectly sized (for me) so we tried the sesame and ginger chickens along with the crab rangoons. Price was very reasonable for the food and it's nice to have a solid chinese restaurant in the market again. Looking forward to going back

I have been here twice now to order a few different things. The sesame chicken is phenomenal! I love that it was huge chunks of all white meat and not extra breaded dark meat like you typically get in Chinese establishments. The next time I got the sweet and sour chicken. The sauce was quite tasty and the chicken was super crunchy. It wasn't a typical smooth breaded like you normally see, but rather a panko style super crunchy breading. The only disappointing part is that it does not come with bell peppers despite a picture of it in their menu. The employee said they need to update that picture. The place was clean, the staff is friendly, and the portions were good size. I really love that the menu is limited, this way I don't have to argue with myself over what to eat because of so many options. One thing I don't like is having to type in my phone number at the kiosk when ordering. I don't like giving out my phone number if at all possible because we all know what will happen once our number is out there. Another small issue I had was when the employee brought out food, it was only for my spouse. I had to wait another 5 minutes before my meal came out. Meals should arrive together or within a few seconds so the other person is not having to wait and allow their food to get cold. Finally, I would say the only aspect I really am uncomfortable with is what I see in other restaurants too. The ordering screen has a tip option when you go to pay and it starts with a recommended 20%. It comes up really big and the worker behind the counter is watching so they can see if you tip or not. I am sorry but I don't like being prompted to tip when it is the kind of eating establishment that does not typically require tipping. I ordered the food myself, typed it in, got my own drink, and never waited on a waiter other than to be brought my food like 20 feet away. To me this should not warrant a tip. The restaurant itself needs to be paying employees a living wage and not relying on guests to pay even more in tips. In all it was a good experience and I would return.

Yo, I love this place. I live in the river market and this is one of my main go-to's for close, fast and AFFORDABLE food in my hood. The tofu pad Thai is $10 for crying out loud. Is it the best Asian food I have ever had? Well.... for the price it is.

Extremely good food! Everything was so flavorful and fresh. We got the dumplings, sesame chicken with lo mien, and the Dan Dan noodles. All of it was so good. Perfect size portions. The service is friendly and easy. Great location in the market too.

I ordered Tofu Pad Thai to-go. I was the only person in the restaurant at 530p. The food was flavorless - no spice or flavor. I've never had Pad Thai this bad. The egg rolls were good though. Didn't impress me.
