About Bites of Xi'an BK 西府小吃

Welcome to Bites of Xi'an BK 西府小吃, a unique addition to the Chinese Restaurant category located at 318 Livingston St in Brooklyn, New York. This restaurant specializes in the distinctive cuisine of Xi'an, a city in northwestern China known for its robust and flavorful dishes, particularly its hand-pulled noodles and savory street food. For local users in Brooklyn seeking an authentic taste of Xi'an, Bites of Xi'an BK 西府小吃 offers a departure from more common Cantonese or Sichuan styles of Chinese cooking.

One customer who tried the Diao Diao noodles shared a positive experience, noting that they were "happy with the taste." The Diao Diao noodles, also known as Biang Biang noodles, are a specialty of the Shaanxi province, where Xi'an is the capital. These broad, hand-ripped noodles are known for their chewy texture and are often served with a variety of toppings and a spicy, savory sauce. The reviewer also mentioned that the portion size was "generous" and the price was "very reasonably priced," suggesting good value for money. This positive feedback on a signature Xi'an dish indicates that Bites of Xi'an BK 西府小吃 is successfully bringing the authentic flavors of this region to Brooklyn.

However, another customer had a less favorable experience with a different noodle dish: noodles with stir-fried tomato and eggs. This review highlighted a significant discrepancy between the dish served and its depiction on the menu. The customer reported that the noodles used were not the same type as shown in the picture, describing them as "boiled udon-like noodles" that were not even properly strained. Additionally, the dish was said to contain a very small amount of eggs and no bean sprouts, contrary to the picture which allegedly showed "lots of eggs and bean sprouts." The reviewer concluded that the dish was "an overall tasteless dish." This feedback suggests potential inconsistencies in food preparation or menu representation that local users should be aware of.

The cuisine of Xi'an is characterized by the use of hand-pulled noodles, often wide and thick, and bold flavors derived from spices like cumin, chili, and garlic. Lamb is a common meat in this region, and dishes often feature hearty, rustic preparations. Given the restaurant's name, "Bites of Xi'an BK 西府小吃" (with "西府小吃" translating to "Xifu Snacks," Xifu being another name for the area around Xi'an), the menu likely includes a variety of these regional specialties beyond just noodles. Customers might expect to find dishes like Roujiamo (Chinese hamburger), cold skin noodles (Liangpi), and various types of dumplings and savory pancakes.

Based on the limited review information, details about the environment and services of Bites of Xi'an BK 西府小吃 are scarce. The fact that it is a physical restaurant at a specific address implies that it offers dine-in and likely takeout services. The atmosphere could range from a casual, no-frills eatery focused on the food to a more themed environment aiming to evoke the cultural context of Xi'an. Without more feedback, it's difficult to ascertain the specific ambiance or the level of service provided beyond the food itself.

The features of Bites of Xi'an BK 西府小吃 likely center around its specialization in Xi'an cuisine, which is a unique offering in Brooklyn's diverse culinary landscape. The availability of dishes like Diao Diao noodles, a regional specialty, is a key feature that sets it apart from more generic Chinese restaurants. The focus on hand-pulled noodles and the distinct flavor profiles of Xi'an dishes are likely the main draws for customers seeking a more authentic and less common Chinese food experience.

Currently, there is no promotional information available from the provided reviews. Restaurants often use promotions to attract customers, especially when introducing a new or less familiar cuisine. Local users interested in Bites of Xi'an BK 西府小吃 might want to check online platforms, social media, or contact the restaurant directly to inquire about any special offers, lunch deals, or featured dishes that might be available.

For local users in Brooklyn, particularly those in the vicinity of Livingston Street, Bites of Xi'an BK 西府小吃 presents an opportunity to explore the unique and flavorful cuisine of Xi'an. The positive review of the Diao Diao noodles suggests that the restaurant has the potential to deliver authentic and satisfying dishes from this region. However, the negative review regarding another noodle dish indicates that there might be inconsistencies in the preparation or presentation of some items. As with any restaurant, individual experiences can vary.

If you are curious about Xi'an cuisine and looking for a new culinary adventure in Brooklyn, Bites of Xi'an BK 西府小吃 could be worth a visit. Ordering some of their signature Xi'an dishes, like the Diao Diao noodles, might be a good starting point. Given the contrasting reviews, it might be beneficial to manage expectations and perhaps inquire about specific dishes before ordering, especially if menu visuals are a significant factor in your choices.

I got the Diao Diao noodles and was happy with the taste. The portion was generous and very reasonably priced. I'm not sure if it's customizable, but if it is, I'd prefer to exclude tomatoes next time.

The food served wasn't anything like the picture on the menu. The noodles with stir fried tomato and eggs didn't use the same type of noodles as the picture on the menu, instead, it was boiled udon-like noodles and it wasn't even strained. In the picture it had lots of eggs and bean sprouts but it actually had a very little amount of eggs and no bean sprouts. It was an overall tasteless dish. (The picture is to show the type of noodles used)

Broth is pretty yummy and the beef is so soft and tender it practically melts in your mouth. But the noodles are basic udon noodles and the serving of beef is very small, I only got four tiny pieces that did not satiate me.

An absolutely delicious and sizable portion of Diao Diao Noodles for only $11 is enough to have me singing the praises of Xi’an. Dumplings are also very tasty for a good price. This place makes for the perfect quick lunch spot with great service too. Truly a hidden gem!
