Often lauded as one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Los Angeles area, Bistro Na's distinguishes itself through its commitment to authentic flavors, high-quality ingredients, elegant ambiance, and attentive service. You can contact them at (626) 286-1999 or +1 626-286-1999.
Upon entering Bistro Na's, diners are immediately struck by the decor, which is thoughtfully designed to resemble an old-time tea house from China. The restaurant features period furnishings and decorations, creating a sophisticated and culturally rich atmosphere that enhances the overall dining experience. This attention to detail in the environment sets Bistro Na's apart from more casual Chinese eateries, suggesting a focus on creating a memorable and immersive setting for its patrons.
The service at Bistro Na's is consistently praised for its excellence. Customers have noted that the staff is attentive, ensuring that tea cups are never empty for long. Furthermore, the dishes are explained clearly, indicating a knowledgeable and well-trained service team that is eager to guide diners through their culinary journey. This level of service contributes significantly to the overall positive experience, making guests feel well-cared for and informed about the food they are enjoying.
While some of the dishes at Bistro Na's may be familiar, the emphasis on the quality and freshness of the ingredients elevates them to a different level. Diners have commented on the distinct taste of each ingredient, highlighting the restaurant's commitment to using very fresh produce and other components in their preparations. This focus on ingredient quality allows the natural flavors of the food to shine through, providing a more nuanced and satisfying culinary experience.
One particularly intriguing offering is the final dessert plate, which features eight different items with four pieces each. This elaborate presentation showcases the restaurant's attention to detail and willingness to offer a diverse range of flavors and textures to conclude the meal. However, it is noted that this dessert plate is on the pricier side, aligning with the general perception of Bistro Na's as a more upscale dining establishment.
Among the standout dishes mentioned in customer reviews are the leek buns (韭菜盒子). These are described as excellent, featuring a very thin and crispy crust with simple yet flavorful fillings. This seemingly humble dish is executed with precision, highlighting the skill and attention to detail in the kitchen. Another unique and highly enjoyed item is the deep-fried shiitake mushroom, a dish that was new to some diners and proved to be a delightful discovery. This willingness to offer innovative and well-executed dishes adds to the restaurant's appeal.
The cold appetizers at Bistro Na's have also received positive feedback, indicating a strong start to the meal with carefully prepared and flavorful options. Additionally, the boneless drunken chicken wings are specifically mentioned as being very good, suggesting a mastery of classic Chinese flavors with a refined touch. Overall, the culinary experience at Bistro Na's is described as excellent, leaving a lasting positive impression on diners.
For those seeking a more private dining setting, Bistro Na's offers private rooms. Customers who have utilized these rooms have noted the attentive service provided in these secluded spaces. However, one reviewer mentioned that last call for orders seemed to be on the earlier side, even on a weeknight during the holiday season. This is a minor point to consider for those planning a late dinner in a private room.
The presentation of the food at Bistro Na's is consistently described as very nice, further emphasizing the restaurant's commitment to a fine dining experience. This attention to visual appeal, combined with the quality of ingredients and skillful preparation, justifies the restaurant's position as being on the expensive side for Chinese food. The reviewer explicitly states that if one is looking for a no-frills Chinese meal, there are other, more affordable options available in the area. However, for a special occasion, Bistro Na's is highly recommended, providing a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable experience.
The fact that Bistro Na's is Michelin mentioned, rated, or even starred carries significant weight and helps to explain the higher price point. Michelin recognition is a testament to the quality of the food, the skill of the chefs, the service, and the overall dining experience. For those who are cost-conscious, this Michelin acknowledgment should be taken into consideration, as it often correlates with a premium dining experience and associated pricing.
In conclusion, Bistro Na's in Temple City offers a sophisticated and authentic Chinese dining experience that goes beyond the ordinary. With its elegant tea house decor, attentive service, focus on fresh and high-quality ingredients, and beautifully presented dishes, it is an ideal choice for special occasions or for those seeking a refined culinary adventure. Standout dishes like the leek buns, deep-fried shiitake mushroom, and boneless drunken chicken wings, along with an intriguing dessert plate, showcase the restaurant's culinary prowess. While it is acknowledged to be on the expensive side, the Michelin mention further validates the exceptional quality and overall solid experience that Bistro Na's provides. For local users looking for a top-tier Chinese restaurant that offers more than just a meal, Bistro Na's is a destination worth considering.

Our friends told us this is the best Chinese restaurant in LA area, so naturally we must give it try. I am generally not too keen on trying highly publicized places as most were overhyped, nonetheless, I came here with a wide open mind. Thankfully, I wasn’t disappointed, it is one of the best Chinese restaurants in LA area by a wide margin. Let’s start with the decor, which resembles an old time tea house from China with period furnishing and decorations. A nice touch. Next, the service was excellent, my tea cup was never empty for long and dishes were explained clearly. Finally, the food. I must say most dishes are common, but I could taste each ingredient distinctly and all ingredients were very fresh. The final dessert plate of 8 different items of 4 pieces each was very intriguing, but on the pricy side. The leek buns (韭菜盒子)was excellent with its very thin crust and simple but tasty fillings. The deep fried shiitake mushroom was something new for us and we totally enjoyed the dish. The cold appetizers were very well made as well. The boneless drunken chicken wings were very good. All in all, an excellent experience dinning here.
We had one of the private rooms. The service was attentive. They did last call on the early side, it was week night but during the Holiday season. Food is good, with very nice presentations. Yes it is on the expensive side for Chinese food, if you want no frills there's other places to go. However for a special occassion we thoroughly enjoyed it. Knowing what it is, a solid experience overall. It's Michelin mentioned/rated/starred, and that accounts for something, if cost conscious then take that into consideration.
The decor is extraordinary, but the food and service don’t match the high expectations set by the ambiance and price. The cold platter wasn’t worth the cost, and the gravy in the seafood crispy rice had an odd taste. The portion of the stir fry bean leaf was very, very small, which felt disappointing. While the crispy shrimp was excellent and the rib was good, we found that about a third, if not half, of the dessert platter was disappointing and also not worth the price. For the hefty price tag, we expected a much more superior overall experience in both food quality and service.
One of my favorite Chinese restaurants for really great food. I believe this place is Michelin rated. I'm not surprised. My favorite is the crispy shrimp/prawns. They must use super hot oil to get the shrimp shells to be so light and crispy. You can eat the whole shrimp, shell, tail and all! Today, the 2 of us had the beef brisket with quail eggs and the zhajianmein, a noodle dish using black bean sauce. Both very good. Very flavorful. Very good service. They have set a high bar. Many new restaurants are trying to outclass and outdo Bistro Na. I was surprised to get seating for 2 on a busy afternoon after church. Maybe the others are out trying the new contenders?
My sister wanted to eat here for her birthday so we came right when they open on a Sunday. We were a party of 10 so they offer us a private room but it's an extra cost which we didn't think it was worth it so we just came a little before the open to put our name down. We got seated in like 5 minutes at their main dining area and was giving 2 tables that fit 10 people each. The inside of this restaurant is very beautiful and seem upscale. Even the tea in their pot and my coke inwas presented amazingly. Be aware that the soda is not free refills but they give you a lot in a big glass. For our table, we got the shrimp fried rice, na drunken chicken, wok fried black cod with ginger and scallions, crispy shrimp and stir fried pea sprouts with mushrooms. Be aware that the portion size isn't that big and it's family style dining so that means you share the dishes. The entree are also kind of on the pricer side as well. I didn't like the crispy shrimp that much because of the skin, the shrimp fried rice seems more on the plain side and the cod due to the so many little bones it had. My sister like the place though and she wanted this place. The customer service here is also top notch, everyone was very friendly with us.
