Bing's Happy Garden Inc, located at 125 N Main St in Mt Angel, OR 97362, is a local Chinese restaurant that has garnered positive attention for its generous portions and quality food. Residents and visitors in the Mt Angel area looking for Chinese cuisine can contact them at their phone number: (503) 845-9128 or their mobile phone: +1 503-845-9128. As a Chinese restaurant, Bing's Happy Garden Inc likely offers a diverse menu of familiar American Chinese dishes, catering to both takeout and potentially dine-in customers. The available reviews highlight a focus on providing substantial meals with good flavor and quality ingredients.
One customer recounts their first experience with Bing's Happy Garden Inc, which involved a takeout order enjoyed at a nearby brewery. A striking initial impression was the significant weight of the bag of containers, humorously likened to containing lead. Upon opening the containers, the reason for the heft became clear: the portions were exceptionally large, described as "packed with food." Specific dishes ordered included the Broccoli Chicken, which was noted to have "lots of chicken and broccoli." Similarly, the Sichuan Chicken contained "lots of vegetables and chicken." Another dish, Noodles with Tofu, received positive feedback for the tofu's texture, being "really nice + chewy not mushy." The broccoli in the dishes was praised for being "fresh and not overcooked." Furthermore, the reviewer noted that the chicken in both dishes had "nice flavor" and that the two chicken preparations offered "a distinct flavor profile," indicating attention to individual recipe characteristics. The Sichuan Chicken was highlighted for having "enough heat to make it enjoyable but not too hot," suggesting a well-balanced spice level. The sheer quantity of food resulted in ample leftovers, providing lunch for two people for not just one, but two subsequent days. This led the reviewer to conclude that the amount of food received was remarkable for the price paid, emphasizing the excellent value offered by Bing's Happy Garden Inc.
Another customer describes Bing's Happy Garden Inc as serving "some of the most wholesome American Chinese food I have had." For this reviewer, "wholesome" is a compliment, signifying a menu that is "large but, reliably diverse" with familiar favorites. This suggests that Bing's Happy Garden Inc offers a comprehensive selection of popular American Chinese dishes, likely prepared with a focus on quality and perhaps a more traditional or less heavily processed approach, aligning with the term "wholesome." This reviewer also emphasizes the restaurant's customer focus, advising patrons to communicate their preferences regarding food preparation. A key point reiterated is the large portion sizes. The positive initial experience led this customer to place multiple orders within the same week when friends were visiting, trying other "great chicken and seafood entrees" on two separate occasions. This repeat business and positive feedback across different types of entrees further attest to the consistent quality and appeal of Bing's Happy Garden Inc's offerings.
Based on these two reviews, Bing's Happy Garden Inc appears to excel in providing generous portions of well-prepared and flavorful American Chinese food. The use of fresh ingredients, such as the broccoli, and the distinct flavor profiles of different dishes are notable strengths. The chewy texture of the tofu also indicates attention to proper cooking techniques for various ingredients. The emphasis on "wholesome" food suggests a commitment to quality that resonates with at least one reviewer. Furthermore, the restaurant is described as customer-focused, implying a willingness to accommodate individual preferences.
While the reviews provide substantial information about the food quality and portion sizes, they do not offer specific details about the environment of the restaurant. However, the fact that customers have ordered takeout and enjoyed it elsewhere suggests that the primary focus might be on the food itself and efficient service. It is reasonable to assume that Bing's Happy Garden Inc provides a clean and functional space for both preparing food and serving dine-in customers, if that option is available. The lack of negative comments about the cleanliness or ambiance might indicate that these aspects are satisfactory, though not specifically highlighted.
Similarly, the reviews do not contain any information about specific services offered beyond takeout. It is common for Chinese restaurants to also provide dine-in services, and Bing's Happy Garden Inc likely does as well, given its categorization and physical address. The customer focus mentioned in one review suggests that the service is likely friendly and responsive. However, details about table service, delivery options (if any), or the speed of service for dine-in customers are not provided.
Regarding features, the standout features of Bing's Happy Garden Inc, based on the reviews, are the exceptionally generous portion sizes and the perceived quality and flavor of their "wholesome American Chinese food." The diverse menu of familiar favorites, as mentioned by one reviewer, could also be considered a feature, catering to a wide range of tastes. The distinct flavor profiles of different dishes indicate a level of culinary skill and attention to detail. The customer-focused approach suggests a willingness to ensure customer satisfaction.
No promotional information, such as discounts, special offers, or signature dishes being promoted, is mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in learning about any current promotions or specific menu highlights might need to contact Bing's Happy Garden Inc directly using the provided phone numbers or check if they have an online presence, such as a website or social media page, where such information might be shared.
In conclusion, Bing's Happy Garden Inc in Mt Angel, OR, appears to be a highly regarded Chinese restaurant, particularly noted for its remarkably generous portions, flavorful and "wholesome" American Chinese cuisine, and customer-focused service. The positive feedback regarding the quality of ingredients, distinct flavors of different dishes, and the overall value due to the large portions make it an attractive option for those seeking a satisfying and substantial meal. While details about the restaurant's environment and specific services beyond takeout are limited, the strong endorsements of the food quality and value suggest a worthwhile dining experience. Customer Reviews
Our first time there. We got takeout to eat up at the Benedictine brewery. The bag of containers was extremely heavy. I thought they were serving us lead lol. When I opened the container I realized why it was so heavy. This thing was packed with food. Lots of chicken and broccoli for the broccoli chicken. My Sichuan chicken had lots of vegetables and chicken. We also ordered the noodles with tofu. Tofu was really nice + chewy not mushy. Broccoli was fresh and not overcooked. The chicken had nice flavor and the two different chicken dishes had a distinct flavor profile. The Sichuan chicken head enough heat to make it enjoyable but not too hot. My wife and I now have leftovers for lunch today and again tomorrow. That's how much food we got for how little we paid.
This is some of the most wholesome American Chinese food I have had. For me, that is a compliment, meaning a large but, reliably diverse menu of favorites. They are customer focused and portions are big so let them know how you like your food. Our first order was so good, when friends visited, we ordered other great chicken and seafood entrees 2x the same week.
The meal my wife and I ordered was completely disgusting. We brought it home and it was thrown in the bag spilling sauces all in the bag. We ordered like 4 different entrees and all of them were bland and tasted terrible. Too make things worse it was way overpriced almost 60 dollars. I tried to explain respectfully to the manager the situation to see if they would offer a solution and she wanted no part in doing the right thing and immediately jumped to you already took food and started yelling for no reason. I am not a confrontational person so I just decided to hang up. What a horrible business.
We've been wanting to try Happy Garden for a while and finally pulled the trigger the other night. We got a sampling of a few "safe" dishes to get a feel for the food, though when we went to pick it up, we realized that was ill-advised. The order total (which we didn't get over the phone) gave us a bit of sticker shock, as it was $75 for two adults and a child. But, holy moly, that was a lot of food, leftovers enough for a couple of nights! So, accounting for the leftovers we got out of it, the price wasn't bad and ended up on par with the pretty good pizza place 5 miles down the road (also lots of leftovers from that place). The kicker is that the food was actually pretty good! Granted I probably wouldn't know any "authentic" Chinese if I was served it, I'll say I'm not a fan of the heavily Americanized Chinese foods out there that are over-fried before being soaked in an overly sweet sauce that you're pretty sure is just a bad take on ketchup. That Chinese is easy to find and I'm happy to say that Happy Garden is NOT that type of place. So, while I may not be able to attest to authenticity, I can say that what we had was just genuinely good food. The fried dishes were fried correctly, so that they were crispy but not oily. The sweet and sour chicken even kept a nice bite to it after being coated in the sauce! (and they didn't cheat by overcooking it and passing off crunchy for crispy). The kung pao chicken was not overly sweet and had a nice kick. Though I should mention that if you like the starchy, dark, sweet sauce in your kung pao (i.e., Panda Express style), you may want to pass on Happy Garden's version; theirs doesn't resemble that much, though I'd argue it's much better for it. Pot stickers and lo mein were both good as well. And, generally speaking, all of the vegetables were cooked but crisp, and the dishes all had a balanced flavor, where nothing overwhelmed and nothing was bland. Food and price aside, we have no complaints about service. The food was ready on time, hot, and handed to us by a very friendly person (possibly an owner?). Since it's just takeout, there's not much to the service aspect to rate, but what there is was top notch. Overall, I'd say if you're in the Silverton-Mt. Angel area, Happy Garden is the place to go for Chinese. It's certainly now on our top 5 for go-to takeout places!
I noticed some people gave this restaurant only one star. We have always enjoyed their food. They are very nice people and I think it is a husband and wife team. They have closed off the eating section so all you can do is take out. We call ahead and she gives us the time we need to pick it up. We like #4, #8, and #5 combo plates. They have become our Friday night take out restaurant. Give them a chance! It is yummy food.
