About Beyond Sushi Thai
Welcome to Beyond Sushi Thai, an Asian restaurant located at 616 W Lionshead Cir, Vail, CO 81657, USA. While the name suggests a focus on sushi and Thai cuisine, customer reviews reveal a much broader and highly acclaimed menu that includes exceptional Chinese dishes, particularly authentic Szechuan cuisine. You can contact them at (970) 688-5158 or their mobile number +1 970-688-5158 for reservations or inquiries. Based on enthusiastic customer feedback, Beyond Sushi Thai is considered a "hidden gem" offering a diverse range of Asian flavors, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere, with notable strengths in its Chinese, Thai, and sushi offerings, as well as significant vegetarian options and a Bring Your Own Bottle (BYOB) policy.
One large group of ten diners expressed immense satisfaction with their experience, stating, "So glad we came across this hidden gem!" They reported having a "great time," with every dish ordered being "amazing" and the service described as "quick." This positive initial impression led to immediate plans for a return visit later in the week to explore more of the menu, indicating a high level of culinary appeal and a desire to sample a wider variety of dishes. Notably, this reviewer highlighted the availability of "tons of options for vegetarians," making Beyond Sushi Thai an excellent choice for those with plant-based dietary preferences. They also mentioned that their favorite dishes were the ones recommended by their server, underscoring the helpfulness and knowledge of the staff. Furthermore, they pointed out the BYOB policy, a significant feature that allows diners to bring their own alcoholic beverages.
Another reviewer went even further in their praise, declaring Beyond Sushi Thai as "the best Asian restaurant in Vail and possibly Colorado." This strong endorsement speaks volumes about the quality and authenticity of the food and the overall dining experience. While acknowledging the "huge menu from sushi to Thai," this reviewer specifically emphasized that "the stand outs are their Chinese dishes," particularly recommending it for those seeking "authentic Szechuan." Szechuan cuisine is known for its bold and spicy flavors, often featuring the unique numbing sensation from Sichuan peppercorns, suggesting that Beyond Sushi Thai excels in delivering genuine and flavorful Szechuan dishes.
This reviewer provided specific examples of dishes they enjoyed: the "Wonton soup" with homemade dumplings that had a "good ginger and garlic flavor" and was generously sized, "big enough for two as an app." They highly recommended the "Double cooked pork," describing it as "absolutely outstanding" with a "big portion" that included vegetables and flavorful "fermented black beans." For those who enjoy spicy food, they enthusiastically recommended the "Spicy crispy fish," stating it "might have been the best I’ve had," even compared to chicken variations of the same dish they typically enjoy. The reviewer concluded their remarks by expressing being "blown away with how good" the Chinese food was, further solidifying its status as a highlight of the menu.
Beyond the exceptional food, the service at Beyond Sushi Thai also receives high praise. The reviewer specifically mentioned their server, Patrick, as "incredible," describing him as "so friendly and welcoming." They also shared an interesting anecdote about Patrick being a "serious skier" who often backpacks significant weight to cook fresh food slopeside, adding a unique and personal touch to the dining experience. This positive feedback about the service contributes significantly to the overall welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere of the restaurant.
Regarding the environment, one reviewer noted that "the interior is small," advising potential diners to "recommend making a reservation." This suggests that while the space might be intimate, the popularity of the restaurant necessitates booking in advance to secure a table. This also implies that the atmosphere is likely cozy and perhaps lively due to its popularity. However, detailed information about the décor, lighting, or overall ambiance beyond its size is not provided in the reviews.
A significant feature of Beyond Sushi Thai, as mentioned by multiple reviewers, is its Bring Your Own Bottle (BYOB) policy. This allows diners to bring their own wine or beer to enjoy with their meal, potentially saving on beverage costs and allowing them to pair their favorite drinks with the diverse menu offerings. This is a notable perk that can enhance the dining experience for many customers.
In summary, Beyond Sushi Thai in Vail, CO, presents itself as a versatile Asian restaurant that goes beyond its name to offer exceptional Chinese cuisine, particularly authentic Szechuan dishes, alongside its sushi and Thai options. It is highly praised for its "amazing" and "fresh" food, with standout dishes like the double cooked pork and spicy crispy fish. The restaurant also caters well to vegetarians with a wide array of choices. The service is consistently described as "quick," "friendly," and "welcoming," with specific mention of an "incredible" server. The BYOB policy is a significant advantage for those who wish to bring their own alcoholic beverages. While the interior is noted as being small, the overall atmosphere is clearly positive and enjoyable, making reservations advisable. Although specific details about the décor and other potential services like takeout or delivery are not mentioned, the overwhelmingly positive reviews highlight Beyond Sushi Thai as a culinary gem in Vail, highly recommended for its diverse and authentic Asian cuisine.

So glad we came across this hidden gem! Came in with a group of 10 and we all had a great time. Every dish we ordered was amazing and the service was quick as well. We are already discussing coming back to try more dishes later this week. Tons of options for vegetarians. Our favorite dishes were the ones recommended by our server! BYOB
10 out of 5 This is the best Asian restaurant in Vail and possibly Colorado. They have a huge menu from sushi to Thai but the stand outs are their Chinese dishes. If you want authentic Szechuan this is the place! What we got: - Wonton soup - homemade dumplings had a good ginger and garlic flavor. Big enough for two as an app. - Double cooked pork - absolutely outstanding. Big portion with vegetables, fermented black beans, so good! - Spicy crispy fish - highly recommend this if you like spicy food. I love this dish whether the chicken or fish variations and this might have been the best I’ve had! I can’t say enough about the Chinese food. We were blown away with how good they were. Our server Patrick was incredible. He was so friendly and welcoming. He’s a serious skier and you can often find him backpacking 30+ pounds of cooking gear to make fresh food slope side! We have tried many places in Vail and I highly, highly, highly recommend this place. The interior is small so I recommend making a reservation. Pro tip: it’s BYOB so bring a bottle of wine or a few beers!
This Chinese restaurant offers a delightful family-style dining experience. The dishes are not only tasty but also incredibly filling. The boiled beef was particularly noteworthy, as I couldn’t resist taking a closer look at it. However, the broccoli preparation was a bit unusual, deviating from the traditional methods.
Tasty. I opened for the spicy Chinese chicken at the recommendation of our server. The chicken was good, but I’m honestly still thinking about the few bites I had of my friend’s Penang curry. I would get that if I was to return. The menu has a wide selection. A bit pricy at $62 for two dishes plus waters, but in Vail I’m sure this is considered a cheap eat.
Food was fantastic! We will certainly eat here again. The only negative really was that the plates weren't very clean. We had to wipe them off with the napkin. Still, the food was impressively good. The portions were VERY generous. We shared wonton soup and the boiled fish filet that is pictured below. The picture was taken after all the fish was eaten. The bowl was completely topped. Highly recommend this restaurant!
