About Best China Chef

Best China Chef is a Chinese restaurant located at 5506 Perkiomen Ave in Reading, within Shelborne Square in Exeter, Pennsylvania. As a Chinese Restaurant, it aims to provide a satisfying dining experience with options for dine-in, takeout, and potentially delivery. They can be contacted at (610) 404-0008 or +1 610-404-0008.

According to one enthusiastic customer, Best China Chef offers great food and service in a nice atmosphere. They highlight the welcoming host, Rick, and the owner, Phillip, who enjoys discussing Chinese cuisine and his family's history in the food service industry. This reviewer recommends several dishes, including Beef with Snow-peas, General Tso’s Chicken, Beef Lo Mein, and Shrimp Egg Rolls, suggesting that Best China Chef is a top choice for Chinese cuisine in Berks County.

Another reviewer had a more moderate experience, describing the restaurant as "okay" rather than exceptional. They noted the absence of strong food aromas upon entering, attributing it to an effective air filtration system that created a clean atmosphere, which they found on par with or even better than other similar establishments. While they didn't find the food to be bad, specifically mentioning the General Tso's Chicken and Vegetable Lo Mein, they felt it lacked flavor and wasn't worth the $21 price for the portion size received. This reviewer suggests that Best China Chef is a convenient option if nearby but not necessarily a destination worth traveling out of one's way for, acknowledging that the food is decent but not outstanding compared to other Chinese restaurants.

In summary, Best China Chef in Reading (Exeter), PA, appears to offer a pleasant dining environment with friendly service, according to one reviewer, and a clean atmosphere noted by another. The food quality seems to be generally acceptable, with some standout dishes mentioned. However, another perspective suggests that while not bad, the food may lack a distinctive flavor and the price-to-portion ratio might not be ideal. Local users can consider these varied opinions when deciding whether to visit Best China Chef for their Chinese food cravings.

This place is just "okay" - nothing super special, but also not icky either. The first thing I noticed when I walked in the door is that there was literally no smell and/or aroma in the dining/takeout area. Restaurants normally have a "heavy smell" when you walk in - there was absolutely none to notice here. Whatever air filtration system they are using is doing a stellar job because the air felt breathable and super clean when I walked in. Have to give credit where it is due - the dining/takeout area and overall atmosphere was on par for other similar places actually outscoring other similar nearby eateries serving the same or similar cuisine. As for the food it isn't bad, but also not anything special either. I got the T'so's Chicken and Vegetable LoMein and there are dishes I get all the time elsewhere, but the ones I got from here just lacked flavor for some reason. It wasn't bad, but also not worth $21, either. I also got the large size and it just didn't seem like a whole lot of food - basically price and portion size didn't appear to be equal. Case in point if you happen to be directly in front of the building or in the same shopping plaza and have a craving for Chinese food I'd say go for it here. Otherwise, if you are out and about and get your craving don't go out of your way to come here. The food isn't gross at all, but I've eaten at other Chinese places where the food was way better! Sorry, just my honest opinion.

This was my first time ordering from Best China Chef. I ordered chicken w/broccoli with yellow fried rice. The order came pretty fast, I opened my order to eat and it had pork in it. I do not eat pork. The menu needs to say pork is included in the food so I would not be surprised when I see it's added in my food. I am very disappointed. On my part, I should have just added in the notes "No pork" just to avoid things like this. Please Best China Chef add that certain foods have pork when you know that a customer orders food they think might not have pork included. Other than that, the service was good.

Usually this is my go to place. I enjoy the food 80% of the time but as of late when I order from here there are issues. Last time I ordered bourbon chicken and they gave me ribs. Today I decided I wanted to try something new, I google one of their entrees which were suppose to be shrimp with vegetables and noodles & I received shrimp with what looked like some sort of leafy greens soaked in a clear white sauce. They should start taking the time to go through the order with customers before packing it, placing descriptions on their menu, & maybe even add photographs of their dishes on their site. I did not eat my dinner and I did not bother to call because they are out of my way. Waste of money and time.
